The rest of the first half the Bucks never let their lead fall below 16 while leading by 20+ points for the majority of the period. In the second half, Milwaukee expanded on its halftime lead, going up by as many as 43 points toward the latter part of the third quarter which ended with the Bucks on top From there, the game was well out of reach for the Pistons who shot just 38% as a team from the field and 29.6% from three for the game. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 24 points and 17 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. He was once of seven Bucks to score in double figures. Luke Kennard scored 21 points to lead the Pistons. The 35-point win was the third-largest playoff win in franchise history for the Bucks and the largest since 1971 ( over San Francisco). The Bucks, who are looking for their first playoff series win since 2001, can take their first 2-0 lead in a playoff series since they went up 2-0 over Charlotte in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2001 with a win in Game 2 tonight. Milwaukee s 121 points in Game 1 marked just the second time in the last 30 seasons that Milwaukee has tallied 120+ points in a playoff game (124 points vs. DET on 4/29/06). The Bucks were the top scoring team in the NBA this season as they averaged points per game. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way for the Bucks in Game 1, scoring 24 points with a playoffcareer-high 17 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. This was Antetokounmpo s second 20- point, 15-rebound game of his playoff career, while his 17 boards were the most by a Buck in a playoff game since Ervin Johnson hauled in 17 boards on 5/28/01. The Bucks finished the regular season with the best record in the NBA at 60-22, marking the third in time franchise history, and the first time since , that Milwaukee had the top record in the league. This was Milwaukee s fifth 60-win season in franchise history and its best record since The Bucks are making their third consecutive appearance in the NBA Playoffs and their fourth trip in the last five seasons. Milwaukee owns a record all-time in the postseason, including a mark in the First Round. This is the fifth time that Milwaukee and Detroit are facing off in the playoffs and the first time since The Pistons won each of the previous four meetings with the Bucks in the playoffs. April 10, 2019 vs. Oklahoma City L, The Bucks fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the regular season finale on Wednesday at Fiserv Forum, After a close first quarter, the Thunder began to open up a lead in the second quarter, using a 14-0 run to break open a tie before leading by 10, 68-58, at halftime. In the third quarter, the Bucks were able to get within three at with 4:42 left in the quarter, but the Thunder held onto their lead, eventually going up by 20, , with 4:09 remaining in the game. From that point forward, Milwaukee could only get as close as 11 points, but by that time it was too late as the Thunder picked up the win. Despite the loss, it was a career night for Tim Frazier, who scored a career-high 29 points, D.J. Wilson, who tallied career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (17) and Bonzie Colson who scored a career-high 21 points, who all lead the Bucks. Dennis Schroeder led the Thunder with 32 points, knocking down eight threes. Milwaukee established its dominance early in the game taking a double figure lead in the first quarter before leading entering the second quarter. The Pistons, however, tied the game at 35 with 8:15 remaining in the second quarter following a 13-5 run. After a Milwaukee timeout, the Bucks came roaring back with a run of their own, entering halftime with a lead. The Bucks led by double figures for most of the third quarter, until a 14-5 run by Detroit brought the Pistons within four. But from there, the Bucks finished the quarter on a 10-2 run to take an lead entering the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the Bucks continued to extend their lead, going ahead by as many as 21 points before going on to win by 10. From there, Milwaukee extended its lead to as many as 21 points in the second quarter before taking a lead heading into halftime. In the second half, the Bucks kept the Pistons out of it, leading by 20 or more points for the majority of the second half before going on to win by 23. The Bucks shot a season-high 59.5 percent on the night, while holding the Pistons to just 38.0 percent shooting as a team. Brook Lopez led the Bucks with 25 points, knocking down seven three-pointers, while Khris Middleton added 22 points. The Pistons were led by Blake Griffin who scored a game-high 29 points and hauled in nine rebounds. Leuer Assists 7 Giannis Antetokounmpo 4 Blake Griffin Regular Season Game 2 vs. Detroit December 17, 2018 Little Caesars Arena W, The Bucks knocked off the Pistons on Dec. 17, Detroit got off to a strong start leading by as many as eight points in just over three minutes played, but an 11-4 run by the Bucks fueled by three 3-pointers gave the Bucks the lead with 6:54 remaining in the first quarter. After exchanging baskets for the lead four times, the Bucks entered the second down by two. A layup by Tony Snell early in the second would spark a run by the Bucks to head into halftime with a 12-point lead, The Bucks held the Pistons to a secondquarter season-low of just 16 points. Milwaukee extended its lead to the largest of the night at 15, 79-64, but a 13-2 run by Detroit late in the third, cut the Bucks lead to four entering the fourth quarter. The Pistons took the lead with 6:24 left in the fourth, but the Bucks quickly regained the lead off a Sterling Brown three with 6:13 remaining. Detroit had the final possession of the game but fell short as Milwaukee prevailed The Bucks were led by Giannis Antetokounmpo who scored a game-high 32 points and 12 rebounds. For all but the first 41 seconds of play, the Bucks were in the lead and they remained in control throughout the game, leading by 11 at halftime and 20 at the end of the third quarter. The Pistons were able to cut the lead to 15, 77-62, towards the end of the third quarter, but back-to-back threes by Sterling Brown put Milwaukee up by 21 before going up entering the fourth quarter. In the final quarter of play Milwaukee never led by less than 21 points, going up by 28 points at one time before coasting to 23-point win. Eric Bledsoe led the way scoring a season-high-tying 27 points for the Bucks while Giannis Antetokounmpo added 15 points and Malcolm Brogdon chipped in 14 points. The Pistons were led by Blake Griffin who tallied a game-high 31 points. 3 NEWS & NOTES POSTSEASON BOUND The Milwaukee Bucks are in the postseason for the 31st time, having made the playoffs each of the last three seasons and in four of the last five years. The Bucks enter the 2019 Playoffs as the NBA s top seed after going a league-best during the regular season. The Bucks own a record all-time in the postseason, including a mark in the First Round. ONE OF THE BEST The season was one of the best in franchise history for the Bucks. Not only did Milwaukee hit the 60-win mark for the first time since the season, but it finished atop the NBA for just the third time in franchise history and had two of the best home and road records in team history. 4 NEWS & NOTES A GREEK ODYSSEY Bucks All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had the best season of his career in Antetokounmpo set new career-highs in points (27.7, 3rd in NBA), rebounds (12.5, 6th in NBA) and assists (5.9) per game while shooting a career-best, and franchise record, 57.8% from the field (11th in NBA). 5 MILWAUKEE BUCKS COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY BUCKS AND COUSINS SUBS BLOCK OUT HUNGER The Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin-based Cousins Subs teamed up to Block Out Hunger statewide for the fourth consecutive season. Once again, Cousins donated $50 to the Hunger Task Force for every blocked shot the Bucks had throughout the season. The Bucks tallied 486 blocks this season, second-most in the NBA, resulting in a $24,300 donation to Hunger Task Force. BUCKS AND ATC TREES FOR THREES PROGRAM For the third season, the Milwaukee Bucks and American Transmission Co. (ATC) partnered to make schools across Wisconsin greener through the Trees for Threes program. As part of the program, ATC donated one tree to be planted at a Wisconsin school for every 3-pointer the Bucks made at Fiserv Forum during the season. The Bucks made a franchise record 573 threes at home this season the fourth-most in NBA history which will result in 573 trees planted at schools across Wisconsin. COACH BUD S ASSISTS FOR HUNGER PROGRAM Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer teamed up with Feeding Wisconsin to raise awareness and tackle hunger across the state this season. Budenholzer donated $15 to Feeding Wisconsin for every assist the Bucks tallied during the season. With 2,136 assists this season, Budenholzer donated $32,040 to Feeding Wisconsin to help tackle hunger across the state. BUCKS TAKEOVER IN THE QUEEN CITY GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO NAMED CAPTAIN AND STARTER, DROPS 38 POINTS Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was selected as a starter and captain for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, marking his third consecutive All-Star Game start. Antetokounmpo received the most player votes (269), the secondmost fan votes (4,375,747) and tied for the second-most media votes (99) among all players in the NBA. Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 38 points on 17- for-23 shooting during the 68th NBA All-Star Game, hauled in 11 boards and dished out 5 dimes. KHRIS MIDDLETON EARNS FIRST ALL-STAR SELECTION Bucks forward Khris Middleton was named a reserve for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game. This was the first All-Star selection for Middleton who became the first NBA G League alum to be named an NBA All-Star. Middleton finished the All-Star Game with 20 points (7-13 FG, FG), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. MIKE BUDENHOLZER COACHES TEAM GIANNIS By virtue of having the best record in the Eastern Conference on Feb. 4, Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer and his staff coached Team Giannis in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game. This was the second time in Budenholzer s career that he was a head coach in the All-Star Game (2015), while becoming just the second coach in Bucks history (Larry Costello, 1971 and 1974), to represent Milwaukee as a head coach of an All-Star Game. MIDDLETON COMPETES IN 3-POINT CONTEST Khris Middleton also participated in the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend. Middleton, who also competed in the event in 2016, became the third player in franchise history (Craig Hodges, Ray Allen) to participate in the 3-Point contest multiple times. This was the ninth time Milwaukee was represented in the 3-Point Contest.
