1 What s Inside? County Fair Wheat Expo Details KS State Fair Tickets Raise Your Hand Meade County 4-H Connections July H Families At the Extension Office, we would really appreciate families taking the time to CAREFULLY read each newsletter. Many times we hear you say I didn t read the newsletter or there just isn t time. Is this an acceptable way to teach our children how to do their homework? This is our primary way of getting information to you. It is your duty as a 4-H member and parent to stay informed. Section headings and titles will give you an idea if the information in that section is pertinent to you. Please take the time to read the newsletter each month you would be surprised how much information, important dates and deadlines are published! The county fair is approaching quickly. Please see the section on all things county fair. We hope this will answer any questions you might have. Please feel free to ask your community leaders or the Extension Office with any questions that are not addressed or arise. For those of you calling into the office, Amilia McAtee is filling in for the Office Professional position until we can hire a new OP. Colleens last day was June 13 th. Elected members work to promote, develop and implement Kansas 4-H events across the state. If you are interested in serving on this level, please talk to the Extension Office about the requirements to apply. Have You Raised Your Hand? National 4-H is asking 4-H alumni and others to raise their hand and encourage support for initiatives across the county. 4-H gives kids the opportunity to learn by doing, grow from failure and develop the skills they need to handle what life throws their way. No one knows this better than 4-H alumni, or you, who have experience 4-H programs firsthand. Kansas 4-H needs your help to win 3 rd Place and $5,000 on a national level! It is very simple and only takes about one minute to fill out the form on the National 4-H Council s webpage at What s even better is Stanion Whole Electric Co., a partner in Kansas 4-H, will donate $2 for each 4-H Alumni who registers (up to $10,000). We are just over a little $5,000 with Stanion right now go raise your hand! 48 Hours of 4-H Please mark your calendars for the state wide event of 48 Hours of 4-H that will be held October 7-8. This weekend, Kansas 4-H encourages all 4-Her s across the state to step up and participate in a service project in your local community. Projects do not need to large, any little things can count. Even helping with elderly s yards as a fall cleanup can make a huge impact!
