9 Page 9 The Lima Lads and Lassies 4-H Club held their monthly meeting a little sooner than usual this month on Sunday May 6th and participated in a community service project. Everyone brought wheel barrels and shovels and we helped Vicky Weissinger spread new mulch around the memorials and decorative rocks that are a part of the Veteran's Memorial Park located along the river. All of the kids did a terrific job loading the wheel barrels with mulch, wheeling to where it needed to go, dump it, and spread it around. When all of the hard work was done we had lunch which Vicky provided for us and had a short meeting. Treasurer's report was given. There were no birthdays to celebrate this month. Fair project sign up started today on Sunday May 6 and runs through Sunday May 13. Later that afternoon families were able to go to the Pepin school where members from the Extension Office were set up on computers and were able to assist members with signing up for projects to take to the fair. Club members were asked to volunteer to be judge's helpers at the fair. We discussed ideas for a design for our club booth for the fair. Our club will be providing games for kids at the Pepin County Dairy Breakfast so we talked about coming up with some new games and asked for volunteers to help with overseeing the games the day of the breakfast. Our next meeting will be June 24 at the Durand City Hall at 1:00. Bauer's will be "Family In Charge".
