1 PIONEER DAYS KICK OFF October 6, Check-In starts at 4:00PM OUTHOUSE RACE ENTRIES: $50.00 Active Duty Military, Service Members & First Responders Teams will get an entry free of charge. All Outhouses and racers need to be checked-in by 4:30PM. 2. The 2018 Outhouse Races will begin at 5:00pm. On October 6, Trophies for 1 st place, 2 nd place, 3 rd place, and the Best Outhouse will be presented at the Pioneer Days Opening Ceremony on October 18, *All Race teams receive free entry in the Pioneer Days Parade. Bring your team and your outhouse on Saturday, October 20 th, check in starting at 8AM. Parade starts at 10AM. 2 Official Outhouse Race Rules and Regulations The safety of racers, spectators, and event organizers is the most important rule. Please use good common safety sense in the construction, in dress, and while racing. Team Requirements: 1. A team shall consist of 5 people. Four people must push the outhouse while one sits inside. 2. Helmets are highly recommended for all team members. 3. No team members may be under the age of 18 years of age. 4. All team members must sign this form and provide a date of birth. 5. It is recommended to have an alternative team member attend the Outhouse Race in case of injury or sickness. Outhouse Building Specifications: 1. All Outhouses must have four walls, a roof, a doorway, and a seat with the appropriate toilet hole. It may have a door, but the door must open and be secured during the race. There are no specific requirements for dimensions or weight. Peoples Choice for most unique outhouse will be voted on and announced on October 18 so get creative! 2. Any number and size of wheels may be used. 3. Any device for grasping (to move) the outhouse may be used EXCEPT ropes (or any similar material/devices). All grasping devices must be secured to the outhouse for safety. A grasping device for the rider to hold onto is strongly encouraged. 4. Outhouse may be built of any solid material that is structurally sound to endure the race Saturday, October 6 th, and the parade on Saturday, October 20 th, NO glass may be used. 6. Each outhouse must have a name to be displayed on each side of the outhouse (front and back display also allowed). Sponsors names may be applied anywhere on the outhouse. 7. Each outhouse must contain a toilet seat and a roll of toilet paper. 8. A steering device and brakes are HIGHLY recommended. Race Regulations: 1. Races will be run in multiple heats. Race times will be recorded by Outhouse Race officials.

3 2. The course will be divided into two lanes. No outhouse may go into their opponent s lane. If a team breaches another lane, a 10 second penalty will be added to that race time. If a collision occurs, both teams will return to the start line and restart the race. 3. During the race, a rider must be seated inside the outhouse. 4. All outhouses are to be people-powered only. No use of motors, any mechanical/bicycle devices, jet propulsion or animals allowed. 5. Outhouse teams must maintain control/contact with their outhouse at all times during the race. Each team member must have at least one hand in contact with the Outhouse throughout the race. For example, a push and release over the finish line is not allowed. 6. In the event of a tie, the team with the fastest average time will be the winner. All team members must sign below: 1. Participants, by execution of this entry form, release and discharge all above sponsors, their members, agents, employees, volunteers and/or employees, representatives and anyone else connected with the management or presentation, including property owners of adjacent empty lots, buildings and businesses, of the Pioneer Days Outhouse Races, from and against all liability loss that the participants or entrants, guests including family and relatives, may sustain or incur as a result of any known or unknown damages, injuries, claims, demands or judgements arising from participants or entrants involvements in the October 6 th, 2018 Pioneer Days Kick Off Outhouse Races in Twentynine Palms, CA. 2. I understand that at this event or related activities, I may be photographed. I agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the event holders, producers, sponsors, organizers, and assigns, without any expectation or right to compensation. 3. For the safety of myself and others at the event, I agree to not remove my parade entry from said event until the conclusion of the Pioneer Days Parade.
