2 Who We Are Proud Past.. The lineage of the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo began during the late 1940's when several Pasadena area businessmen created the rodeo to bring the citizens of Pasadena together. Their goal was to provide opportunities for the community s youth, and to preserve the lifestyle and moral convictions of an agricultural era and western heritage that was quickly passing. In 1949, the first Pasadena Livestock Show was held in an empty lot off of Red Bluff Road. Bright Future. Today, the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo is composed of more than 2,000 volunteer members from across Texas. Celebrating our 68 th anniversary, the livestock show includes student projects from five area school districts, and our rodeo attracts some of the world s greatest cowboys and cowgirls in the business. In addition, our entertainment stage has played host to some of the greatest music artists in the country. To date, PLS&R has given millions in scholarship dollars to deserving, hard-working youth within our community. With your support, we can continue this tradition for decades to come. 3 Livestock Auction The PLS&R Livestock Auction is held the first Thursday of the nineday show. This annual event is an integral part of the PLS&R tradition and our main focus as an organization. This day showcases the students projects that are then sold to the highest bidder in a live auction.
