1 C.R.R. Trail Blazer The Newsletter of the California Range Riders California Range Riders The colors of the beads used by the Native Americans are very meaningful to those who believe in the old customs. Black is the color of night. A time of peace, solitude and rest, a time to gather strength. Red is the color of awareness, strength and courage. Blue is the color of the sky where the Great Spirit and all the council of animals live. Silver, this color states that one is self assured and worthy of spiritual protection and guidance. Turquoise represents the goodness of one s soul. When I make necklaces, I like to observe the ways of the old traditions and use the same color in multiples of four. This reminds us that we must not forget the four winds, the four seasons, and the four directions which govern our lives. When we think of this, we are reminded of the Great Spirit, Father Sun and the Earth Mother who have given us life. Johnny Longknife Thought of the day ~ Travel the High Red Road for a long and happy life.

It's important that all club members renew their CMSA membership for 2011, through our club, the California Range Riders. Go to the CMSA website and print the renewal form, fill it out and sign it. Please make your check out to CRR and send it to our Secretary: Judy Stewart C/O CRR 2480 Day Road Gilroy, Ca If you have questions, feel free to call me at or oldbuckaroo7@aol.com Your Opinions Count! 9 P a g e 9 20 CRR Open Range VIII (Novato Horsemen s Arena ) WSSA 21 CRR Exhibition Demo (Santa Clara Horsemen's Arena, Alamaden) CRR Faultline War VII (Diamond Bar Arena, Ceres) WSSA CA State SEPTEMBER 3-5 Gold Rush Days (Sacramento) jb@jbranch 5 Labor Day CRR Gold Dust Fever X (Ione Covered Arena) CMSA 2x SEPT 30-OCT 2 WSSA World Championship (Idaho) CRR is now affiliated with: CSA Cowboy Sports Association and WSSA Western States Shooting Association Looking forward to seeing all of our new members and prospective members at these upcoming events. If you re inexperienced, come ride time-only and learn the in s and outs of cowboy mounted shooting. The reason for Rsvp s RSVP s are important. It helps us plan the amount of supplies (ammo, balloons, etc ) we need at each event. Many times the balloon setter groups want to know how much they will be paid (ahead of time). They are paid by the number of contestants and the number of stages run. The Diamond Bar would like to be able to purchase the appropriate amount of food, instead of over buying or having to make a last minute trip to the store. It s a courtesy and I ask all of you to make an effort in the coming year. As always, a big thank you to Scarlet Angel (Debbie McAlpin) for the excellent work on the CRR Trailblazer, and to all the contributing writers great job!...keep it comin. Happy trails to all Old Buckaroo
10 P a g e 10 July was a full month for CRR. There were practices, parades, matches and good times to be had by all! Check out the president s message for a recap. July 23 & 24 found us in Ione, CA, at Howard Park for the Ghost Riders in the Sky match. This is our memorial match for CRR s fallen members Nolie Johnson and Tim Foster. Tim s wife, Debbie, made it out to visit with her CRR family for this match too. It is always so great to see her when she can make it to our shoots. When I think of the close competition, I have to thank the people who work in the announcer s booth keeping scores and announcing for us.really Colleen, I was only half a second off of you! Half a second, yes our score keepers watch that stuff too. Thank you California Girl and Sierra Rose for keeping such a close eye on us. Debbie Foster Once the guns were put away and the horses fed, the fiesta started. There must have been enough grub to feed the town of Ione! Thank you Rob & Katie Scott for letting us beat the stuffing out of your boot too! Those of us who had the privilege to ride the trail with Nolie and Tim remember them often and fondly. I know they would have enjoyed the close competition and camaraderie that was felt at this event. Ride on Pards! Scarlet Angel Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. "Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth." Mark Twain
