4 Anti-Doping: Drug testing will be conducted by and follow all U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) policies and procedures. All WORLD PARA ATHLETICS licensed athletes who enter track and field events will be subject to drug testing. For a list of banned substances, please visit: Awards: Awards will be given to all top three finishers in each event. Awards are given in the Adaptive Sports USA Age Divisions and the International Paralympic Committee Open Division. The awards will be distributed once results are confirmed and verified at the competition venue. Athletes are required to visit the Awards area at each venue to pick up awards. The awards table will be inside Lake Forest High School and at the Concession Stand at Loyola Academy. Awards will be taken to the hospitality room in the Embassy Suites after the close of competition Friday and Saturday. Classification: (If you have registered for National Classification, you will be ed your classification time after June 6 th ) National Classification for Athletics (Track and Field) is on Friday, June 9 th between 9:00am-5:00pm. Individuals that have requested classification will be assigned an appointment time and will be required to arrive to the scheduled appointment time approximately 15 minutes early to check-in. Please refer to the classification guidelines and a list of classification appointments can be found at (follow tab for classification at the top right corner of screen). A National Classification Training class is being conducted on Thursday June 8 th from 9am to 5 pm in the Lake Forest Room at the host hotel, Embassy Suites-Deerfield. McKinley Rd., Lake Forest, IL Age Divisions: Events will be heated based on classification and age division. The ANO-GLRG will recognize the age divisions for athletes under the age of 14 in the competition year (6-13) and the age divisions of World Para Athletics for 14 years of age through adulthood for the track and field competition. Swimming and archery will follow the Adaptive Sports USA age divisions and rulebook. Individuals ages 14+ with a World Para Athletics license will be heated together for track and field events. Non-World Para Athletics athletes will be heated together separately unless there are less than eight total athletes in one classification in which licensed and non-licensed athletes will be combined in the same heat or flight. 4

5 The following age groups are recognized by World Para Athletics: (a) Junior Males and Females: Any athlete of 18 or 19 years (b) Youth Boys and Girls: Any athlete of 16 or 17 years (c) Under 16 Boys and Girls: Any athlete of 14 or 15 years. An athlete must be 14 to compete in an open event. Please Note: Competitive age for World Para Athletics is determined by the athlete s age by December 31st in the competition year (athlete age in 2017). Adaptive Sports USA Age Divisions are as follows: Futures Through age 6 U11 (7,8,9,10) U14 (11,12,13) U16 (14,15) U18 (16, 17) U20 (18, 19) U23 (20, 21, 22) Please Note: Competitive age for Adaptive Sports USA is determined by the athlete s age in the competition year (athlete age in 2017). Track and Field Technical Meeting The event schedule includes a coaches meeting for Field on Friday June 9 th at 8:30pm following the officials meeting and a coaches meeting for Track on Saturday June 10 th at 8:00pm. Both meetings will take place in the GLASA Hospitality Room (Lake Forest Room) at Embassy Suites-Deerfield, the host hotel, located at 1445 Lake Cook Rd. The Track and Field meetings will be led by Cindy Housner, the LOC/Event Director, Phil Galli, Games Meet Ref, and International Delegate, Jerry Clayton. The purpose of these meetings is to answer questions and clarify rules or regulations of the competition. It is not mandatory to attend. Coaches will be required to show a credential in order to receive a copy of the heats sheets or pit assignments for the competitions. Credentials will also be required to enter the track and field venue. Questions from coaches & athletes for track and field: If you have any questions in regard to the competition that are not outlined in this manual, you will need to submit them prior to the coaches meeting. Event Director, WORLD PARA ATHLETICS Technical Delegate and Track and Field Director will answer all the questions and send them out prior to the meeting. We ask that you questions to Jerry Clayton, Technical Delegate, at info@glasa.org by 5:00pm CST Thursday, June 8 th. If you wish to submit your questions in writing, you may drop it off at the Embassy Suites-Deerfield by 5:00pm CST on Thursday, June 8 th. All questions will be answered by the meet director and TD and provided in writing via by the technical meeting. A paper copy can be made available upon request if is not available to you. Failure to show: Any instances where an IPC athlete or a guide does not show up for his/her event without a medical excuse or other unusual extenuating circumstance will be disqualified and be removed for all other future events during the competition. Note: All medical excuses must be confirmed or initiated by the medical director of the Competition and/or Meet Director or TD. 5

All results and records will be submitted to the national organization, however, only members will receive a certificate recognizing the record set during the competition. Athletes are required to have a membership in order to attend the Adaptive Sports USA Junior Nationals. 6

7 By registering as an athlete, you will be placed on the Adaptive Sports USA mailing list. Most communication is sent via including a monthly e-newsletter. Athletes will be allowed to update the subscription status with Adaptive Sports USA at any time. Adaptive Sports USA World Para Athletics/IPC Athletics Licensing WORLD PARA ATHLETICS Licensing Only the results of athletes who hold a current WORLD PARA ATHLETICS License will count for the WORLD PARA ATHLETICS World Ranking List(s), WORLD PARA ATHLETICS World and Regional record applications, U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Team status and WORLD PARA ATHLETICS Athletics international competition qualification (i.e., Parapan Am Games, World Championships, Paralympic Games, etc.). Athletes must hold the WORLD PARA ATHLETICS License prior to the start of the competition as the WORLD PARA ATHLETICS will not count results retroactively. PARA ATHLETICS-Licensing.aspx Equipment: The LOC will provide all sanctioned field implements, archery targets and starting blocks. Athletes must provide their own helmet for all wheelchair track racing events. All wheelchair track athletes will be required to wear a helmet for all races as per the WORLD PARA ATHLETICS Rule. Athletes bringing their own field implements and field throwing frame can check-in as indicated on the schedule. Guide runners must provide their own vests. Track spike rules are below. Bib Numbers: Two bib numbers per athlete will be provided for the competition. Ambulatory (track and field event) athletes must wear bibs on their front chest and upper back. Athletes competing in a wheelchair track racer or field throwing chair must place one number on their piece of equipment (track racer frame facing the inside of the track or throwing chair facing sector area) and one number on the upper back of personal 7

8 uniform. Swimmers are recommended to place one bib number on their warm up jacket but are not required to wear the bib numbers. Athletes competing in archery will wear one bib number on their upper back between the shoulder blades. Food: Concession stands offering a variety of drinks and health snacks will be open the following days and times: Friday June 9 : 8:30am-8:00pm Lake Forest High School Saturday June 10: 7:30am-5:00pm** Lake Forest High School Sunday, June 11: 7:30am-2:00pm Loyola Academy **Lunches from Jersey Mikes will be available for purchase at 11:30am Saturday only. There will be a free social with a menu of burgers, brats, veggie burgers, pasta salad cookies and drinks on Saturday from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Lake Forest High School. Please Note: GLASA will provide bottled water for the athletes, coaches, classifiers, officials and volunteers at the event site throughout the competition. Hospitality Room: GLASA will be providing a hospitality room for all registered athletes, coaches and their guests at the Embassy Suites, host hotel, in the Lake Forest Room. This is a great place to rest, hang out and meet other athletes. The room will be stocked with healthy snacks and water, board games and adaptive sports resources. Hours of Operation: Thursday, June 8: Friday, June 9: Saturday, June 10: 3pm-11pm 8am-11pm (closed from 8pm-10pm for meetings) 8am-11pm (closed from 8pm-9pm for meetings) Lodging: Host Hotel Embassy Suites 1445 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield, IL A hot breakfast buffet is served from 7:30-10:30 am on Saturday and Sunday (6-9am weekdays). There will be cold breakfast items available starting at 6:30am on Saturday and Sunday for those that need to leave early. The hotel is approximately a minute drive (without traffic) from each of the competition sites and is a short driving distance from numerous restaurant chains. Media: Please use #ANOGLRG on all of your social media posts so we can track the action at the event. GLASA will have a social media team as well as several professional photographers at the event. Athletes that are comfortable may be asked for interviews following events. Media representatives will be asked to wear credentials indicating that they are approved for the event. You are encouraged to only speak to reporters or media personnel that have the event credentials. 8

Cash, check or credit card will be accepted. Registrant Check-in: Registered coaches and athletes are required to check-in during the posted registration times. One team representative or coach will be allowed to pick up the information for the entire group. Registered athletes will be provided with a commemorative shirt, bib numbers and goody bag at check-in. Registration Check-In: Friday, June 9 8am-8pm Lake Forest High School Saturday, June 10 7:30am-7pm Lake Forest High School Sunday, June 11 7:30am-10am Loyola Academy Results: Once all results are reviewed and verified, they will be posted at the competition venue. Athlete results for all events are posted at the competition venue and final results will be posted on the games website after the completion of the event. All registrants will have results and records submitted to Adaptive Sports USA; however, athletes must be members of Adaptive Sports USA in order to receive a 9

10 certificate of their record. If athletes are planning to qualify and attend Junior Nationals in July, it is recommended that the athlete submit the Adaptive Sports USA membership information prior to completing the registration for ANO-GLRG. Athletes must have a 2017 World Para Athletics License in order for results to count for the World Para Athletics Rankings, World Para Athletics and Region Records. Athletes are required to enter their 4-5 digit Participant ID (SDMS Number) in the on-line registration system. Information on how to obtain an IPC License can be found at: A list of License numbers are included with the World Para Athletics Classification Masterlist: Sanctioning: World Para Athletics Committee and Adaptive Sports USA will sanction the track and field events and the World Para Athletics and IAAF rules will govern the track and field competition. A copy of the rules is located at Adaptive Sports USA will sanction the archery and swimming events and the Adaptive Sports USA rules will govern the competitions. A copy of the rules is located at: A protest procedure will be in effect for the competition. The protest table will be at the Information Booth at the competition venues. A filing fee of 200 Euro (approximately $225.50) will be required when submitting the protest. This filing fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld or the fee will be forfeited if the protest is declined. The protest committee including the Event Director, Track & Field Director, head official and sanctioning delegate will make the decision and it will be announced at the conclusion of the competition. Protests must be filed 30 minutes after the posting of results. Schedule of Events: The tentative time schedule for track and field events will be available on the main website under schedule. The times posted are tentative until all classification and entries are confirmed. The final schedule will be posted under schedule on the Event website and ed to all registered coaches and athletes following the final classification appointment on Friday, June 9. Athletes ages 14 and over who have a WORLD PARA ATHLETICS license will compete in Men s (M) and Women s (W) World Para open division. Adults ages 23 and over who do not have a World Para Athletics license will compete in the Adaptive Sports USA open division. Athletes under the age of 23 that do not have a WORLD PARA ATHLETICS License will compete in the Adaptive Sports USA Boys and Girls Age Groupings. Heat sheets will also be posted after classification on the event web site at and also outside the elevators at the host hotel Embassy Suites. Registered coaches and athletes will receive heat sheets via as soon as possible. 10

11 Relay forms must be submitted by the end of the coaches meeting on Saturday evening. All field track and field events will go straight to finals. Track athletes must check in at least 20 minutes prior to the listed event start time and field athletes must check in at least 15 minutes prior to start listed event time. Chair check in time and implement weigh-in will be on Friday, 3:00 5:00pm, at Lake Forest High School, Saturday, 7:30 to 8:30 am, at Lake Forest High School or Sunday 7:15 7:45am at Loyola Academy. Swim competition will follow a running schedule. The order of events and heat sheets will be posted on the event site under schedule. There will be a boccia meeting at 8:50 at the boccia venue to review rules. Powerlifting weigh-in will be on Friday from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at Lake Forest High School in Room 082C. Archery will have the following 3 divisions: 1. Competitive Recurve: 70m with the 120 cm face for 72 arrows Competitive Compound: 50m with the 80 cm face (individual spots) for 72 arrows (These divisions are for athletes who are ready to compete at national and/or international level tournaments hosted by USA Archery or World Archery.) 2. Junior divisions (although adults can shoot this too.) 3. Novice: 15m with the 80 cm face for 72 arrows (This division is for beginner archers who are using light poundage bows, i.e. genesis bows.) **No broadheads/field points will be allowed. Please use target points for your arrows. **Ambulatory archers are encouraged to bring folding chairs. Venue Information: All archery, boccia, powerlifting, swim and field events will take place at Lake Forest High School. All track events will take place at Loyola Academy.
