2 About U.S. Paralympics U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee, was formed in 2001 to increase support for Paralympics sport in the USA. U.S. Paralympics coordinates the preparation and selection of athletes to U.S. Paralympic Teams, both summer and winter, in conjunction with pertinent National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and other partner organizations. U.S. Paralympics also works with national and locally focused sport organizations that offer Paralympic programs to children and other developing athletes. Through these efforts, U.S. Paralympics promotes Olympic ideals throughout the American population, especially among those Americans who have physical and visual disabilities. 4 Event Transportation Passenger Transportation Schedule Complimentary wheelchair accessible transportation will be provided from the host hotels (Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis Downtown and Hampton Inn & Suites-Minneapolis Downtown) to/from Hamline University on the days of international classification/training and competition (June 17-21) as outlined below. Transportation is open but the priority is for athletes. Competition equipment (racing and throwing chairs) will be transferred in a storage vehicle (box truck) separately from the passenger buses. 5 Equipment Transportation Schedule Competition equipment (i.e., racing chairs, throwing frames, etc.) will be moved from the designated storage areas at the Host Hotels (Hampton Inn 1 st floor meeting room/hilton Garden Inn 2 nd floor meeting room to the designated storage area at the Hamline Track and Field Stadium according to the following schedule. Athletes can use the tags in each storage area to mark equipment (blue=hampton Inn, green=hilton Garden Inn). Equipment is not allowed to be transferred on the passenger buses. IPC Licensing All athletes who register for the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships MUST hold a current IPC License (required for registration). IPC Approved Event The 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships will be hosted as an IPC Approved event. All results will be sent to the IPC for Rankings and Records verification. ParaPan Am Games and World Championships Team Selection The 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships will serve as the selection event for the Parapan Am Games and World Championships Team Selection. Be sure to review the Selection Procedures. 5 of 11

6 Eligibility The 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships are open to U.S. and international athletes with physical, visual and intellectual disabilities who have met the entry standards. Per IPC Rules, athletes must be 14 years of age by December 31, 2015 to be eligible to compete. International Athletes: U.S. Paralympics reserves the right to limit the number of international athletes proceeding to a final of each track and field event. Junior Athletes: USA athletes between the ages of are considered Junior athletes for the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships. The Junior events will be combined with the Elite events. Juniors will throw the adult/open weight implements. Registration and Credentials The entry deadline is Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Athletes can update their registration until the entry system closes on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PT. No event changes (add or scratch) or updates will be accepted after the close of registration! The $55 registration fee (per athlete) includes one Athlete Support credential for the coach designated in the athlete s registration and (if applicable) one additional Athlete credential for the guide designated in the athlete s registration. Additional Athlete Support credentials are $55.00 and can be purchased at Packet Pickup (cash or Visa only). Credentials must be worn in order to access coach/athlete designated areas and in order to enter the competition venue without a spectator ticket. Event Changes NO EVENT CHANGES (scratch or add) can be made after the close of registration-- Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Failure to compete in an event for which an athlete is registered may result in the athlete being disqualified from the remainder of the meet (IPC Athletics Rule 5.3). Scratches will only be accepted for a legitimate medical reason and must be reported to the Clerking/Call Tent as soon as possible but no later than 90 minutes prior to the start of the event. Event Schedule The program will include events projected to be contested at the 2015 Parapan American Games, 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships. The competition schedule is TENTATIVE. The final schedule will be posted/published on Thursday, June 18 th (after international classification). National-Championships/Schedule Packet Pick-up (Hamline University) Athletes should pick up their name bib and credential the day prior to their first event. June 18: 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Klas Café-1 st floor) June 19-20: Approx. one hour prior to the start of each competition session - the end of each competition session Training Information & Equipment Storage (Hamline University-track and field stadium) June 17-18: 9:00am - 5:00pm 6 of 11

7 June 19-21: Approx. one hour prior to the start of each competition session - the end of each competition session International Classification (Hamline University) Classification will take place at Hamline University (lower level locker rooms of the Klas Center). Athletes should arrive fifteen minutes prior to their appointment in order to complete the necessary paperwork. Athletes will check-in and check-out on the 1 st floor of the Klas Center. If you are delayed for any reason on the day of your appointment please call Sherrice Fox at: Classification results will be posted at the Classification check-in area (Klas Café-1 st floor of the Klas Center) on June 17 and 18. Classification results will be posted with the competition results at the competition venue during the times of competition on June Athletes with a New (N) or Review (R) international classification status will be required to attend the assigned international classification appointment at the national championships and therefore MUST submit the international classification MD form (and supplemental documents), request a classification appointment (through the event registration) and plan to be available for international classification beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17th. Failure to submit the proper documents in advance or failure to participate in the assigned classification appointment will result in removal from the competition. Classification Appointment General Information: Bring all of your competition equipment with you to your classification appointment (i.e., throwing chair, racing chair, helmet, gloves, tie downs, implements, running leg(s), running shoes, etc.). The classifiers may ask you to demonstrate your function using your competition equipment, so be sure that you bring everything with you. You should wear comfortable/training type clothing to the classification appointment. You are strongly encouraged to bring a representative with you to your classification appointment. This one coach, parent, friend, etc. and will go through the classification process with you. You are required to show your photo ID or passport at check-in. Classification Rules and Regulations can be found by visiting the IPC Athletics website: Be sure to read through the IPC Athletics Classification Rules and Regulations prior to your appointment so that you know what to expect during the classification process and so that you know the protest fee and process. Bring a copy of your Medical Diagnostics Form and appropriate supplemental documentation to the classification appointment (i.e., this is the classification form and supplemental documents that were submitted to Sherrice). Personal Competition Equipment Racing chairs, throwing frames and equipment can be stored at the competition venue (at your own risk) from June. Athletes in the wheelchair track events must provide their own equipment including a helmet (and wear it) for ALL races. Starting blocks and guide vests will be provided for ambulatory athletes. Competition chairs for all events will be checked at the call tent prior the start of the event (or throwing chairs can be approved through the pre-check process) Double leg amputee height will be checked at the call tent prior to the start of each event. 7 of 11

8 Implement Weigh-in*/Throwing Chair pre-check (Hamline University) Athletes must bring their own equipment and throwing implements. Personal implements must be approved through weights and measures prior to the event. Weights and Measures will be available at the competition venue based on the following schedule. Once the implements are weighed/measured or chairs have been approved through pre-check, they will be impounded and athletes may pick them up after the event at Weights and Measures area. Please be sure to pick-up your implements after your event. June 18: 4:00pm - 6:00pm June 19-21: See competition schedule *Competition specific equipment (i.e., throwing implements, throwing chairs, etc.) is NOT provided--athletes MUST bring their own equipment for the competition. Field Events Heights for the high jump will be assigned at the event. Only one assistant of the F11/12, F31-33, F51-54 classes during their event will be allowed access to the field of play (assistants will be given a vest and should check-in with the athlete and plan to stay in the competition area through the end of the event). Throwing frames will be checked during the times of implement weigh-in or at the call tent. Athletes with an anatomical limitation exemption from rule 36 (secured throwing technique, lifting and failure) must have it processed by IPC 60 days prior to the meet and must present it at the call tent at the time of check-in where it will be verified. Track Events Athletes may only use 1/4 spikes at the competition venue (except for the high jump). Spikes will be checked in call/clerking tent. Double leg amputee height and wheelchair track chairs will be checked at the clerking/call tent approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of each event. Call/Check-in Times All Track Events: Check-in with the call/clerking tent 30 minutes prior to the start time of the event (double leg amputee height and wheelchair track chairs will be checked at the call/clerking tent). Seated Throws: Check-in with the call/clerking tent 30 minutes prior to the start time of the event (throwing frames will be checked at the call/clerking tent or during implement weigh-in times). Ambulatory Field Events: Check-in with the call/clerking tent 45 minutes prior to the start time of the event. Electronic devices are NOT allowed in the clerking area or on the field of play and will be confiscated if usedincluding camera, cell phones, MP3/4 players, etc. Competition Clothing All clothing worn by competitors in the competition area must conform to IPC Athletics Regulations. Bib Numbers Each athlete will receive and is required to wear one bib number. Bibs should be worn as follows: Ambulatory Track: front of uniform Wheelchair Track: back of racing chair Ambulatory Jumps and Throws: front or back of uniform (athlete s choice) Seated Throws: front or back of uniform (athlete s choice) 8 of 11

9 Warm-up The infield of the track and field stadium will be used for ambulatory warm-up during the times of competition in addition to the road (Taylor Ave.) in front of the stadium for wheelchair warm-up. The schedule is built with specific times for wheelchair track athletes to set their compensators on the track prior to their event. Doping Control (USADA) All athletes who compete in the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships are subject to drug testing. Drug Testing will be conducted by and will follow all US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) policies and procedures. More information about banned substances and doping control can by found by visiting: Drug Testing will take place in the locker room located on the lower level of the Klas Center. If athletes are notified for drug testing they must bring an ID with them and are allowed and strongly encouraged to have one representative to accompany them through the drug testing process. If you are in need of a Therapeutic Use Exemption Form (TUE), be sure to submit that application prior to the National Championships. The TUE form can be found on the USADA website: Photography Event photos may be taken during the competition only by accredited media. Personal photography will be allowed ONLY outside of the competition areas. Personal photography is NOT allowed in competition areas. Headshot photos for National Team athletes and designated athletes from the Parapan Am Games Long List will be taken during the hours of Packet Pick-up. If possible, athletes are requested to be at packet pick-up during the June 18 th hours so that the headshot photo can be done during that time. Results Results will be posted at the competition venue, at the host hotels and on the event website. The Official Competition results will be posted on the outside wall of the stands. Live results will be posted on the event website and Awards Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each event and the top three finishers of the combined events (based on points). The Awards tent will be located on the south end of the stadium on the outside of the finish line. Awards will be distributed approximately 35 minutes after each event unless a protest is filed for the event. Athletes are responsible for collecting their own medals after their competition. Protests All protests will be handled according to IPC/IAAF rules. Protests can be filed in the Call/Clerking Tent with the Head Clerk no later than 30 minutes after the official competition results are posted (near the Packet Pickup area). There will be a $50 protest fee that will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld by the Track/Field Referee. If the protest is then sent to appeal, another $50 fee is required and will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld by the Jury of Appeals. Medical Medical staff, emergency services and first aid will be available at the competition facility during all the hours of training and competition. 9 of 11

10 Emergency Plan If weather interrupts the competition, everyone in/around the stadium will evacuate to the field house across Taylor Ave. from the Klas Center/stadium. Merchandise Event merchandise will be sold during the times of Packet Pick-up at Hamline University (competition venue). Only Cash and VISA credit card will be accepted for payment. Tickets Tickets for the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships will be sold at the spectator entrance gate during the times of competition on June Tickets are $15 per person for an all-session pass (military in uniform or with ID, ages 9 and below, and/or persons with a physical disability will be offered free admission). Cash and VISA credit card are the only method of payment accepted for tickets. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Hamline track and field team. Parking Designated event parking (the Lot B -Drew Lot and the Physical Plant Parking Lot) and parking throughout campus is free during the dates of international classification / training and days of competition. Please be cautious as Taylor Ave. (the street in front of the stadium) will be closed during the days of competition for wheelchair track racer warm-up. Golf carts will be on a consistent shuttle schedule to/from Lot B which is the main drop-off/parking location. Concessions Concessions will be available during the dates/times of competition. Concessions are also available in the on Hamline Campus in the Anderson Center on the days of classification/training and days of competition. Weather Be sure to check the weather for the competition prior to traveling to the event. You may benefit from bringing the following items: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, wind/rain jacket and a water bottle. We will provide as much shade as possible, but please note that tent areas are primarily meant for athlete use only during the time(s) of their competition. "Dynamic Speaking" (Hamline University- Robbins Science Bldg. Room 11) This is a Complimentary Athlete Presentation-June 18 th 2-3:30pm Have you wanted to learn how to wow the crowd?!
