8 Thursday Evening Training Run for everybody Starting time will be 17:45. The run will start at the Parkrand Butchery, heading towards (Fairbridge St) and around the circumference of Parkrand and Parkrand Ext. Coming out at Dudley Smith and heading towards Falcon Crest. Shortly after Falcon Crest, left into Waterson, down through the Bokkie Park and working towards Smuts. Into Libradene and stopping at De Bods (Rondebult service road). Back out of Libradene, right in to Smuts, right into Trichardts and back to the start, 12 kms. There are various points along the route for runners to cut short and head back to the start. We had some good PB s recorded there this year and also had a lot of novices that completed their very first 21km race. All of you should feel very proud of yourselves. Once again I ask you to inform the office should you run a PB at any race. We are working on a PB data base and we do not want to exclude any members from getting rewarded for good achievements. This also includes walkers. ~Thought for the week~ A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success. Hope to see you at our training run on Sunday. The run will start at 6:00 am sharp, late comers you'll have to catch up. Rest assured that it will be a well organised training run with water points as well as catch cars. All paces welcome, if you don t feel like a 25km there will be turn around point to either do a 8km, 15 km or 21km. 10 Pick 'n Pay 42km/21km Information The entries close on the 7th of February and apparently it will also be a Champion Chip result race. If you want to see your results on the Champion Chip website and in the Snippets please remember to wear your Championchip on race day. As from Wednesday, January 25, 2012 we will have a clip board under the Gazebo/Umbrella for all our members to record the time they finished a race on. Please help us by taking a few minutes just to fill in your Name, Surname and Time that you completed the race. Due to the fact that not everybody wore their champion chip at the Dischem race, the office does not have a complete set of results. 15 STORIES / ARTICLES PHOTO s OF 2000 & 2001 COMRADES TRAIN ORGANISED BYJ.B. TOURS In the year 2000, Boksburg AC hosted a train tour from Boksburg station to the Comrades marathon in KZN. The tour started with Scottish pipe band music in the background and 240 passengers (runners from other clubs travelled along, as well as friends and family members). This very successful tour was followed up by another one in The organizers of the tours, JB Train Tours, are looking for pictures taken during both of these tours.
