We wish for everyone to have a good running race without any inconveniences or bad experiences; may this event bring smiles to your faces. Let us remind you of the following: A. On the days of the runs (7 and 8 April) STARTING LISTS with race numbers will be displayed there, the RESULTS will be published after the finish of the runs. SCHEDULE LONKA IZOLA: o Friday, 6 April: from to o Saturday, 7 April: from 9.00 to o Sunday, 8 April: from 7.00 to ) RACE NUMBERS PICK-UP Runners pick up their race numbers in the Srednja šola IZOLA, address: Prekomorskih brigad 7, Izola - Friday, 6 April: from to Saturday, 7 April: from 9.00 to Sunday, 8 April: from 7.00 to 9.00 for half-marathon and recreational runners - Sunday, 8 April: from 6.30 to 8.00 for marathon runners It is OBLIGATORY to show an ID at the moment of the race number pick-up. Runners must wear their race numbers on their chests throughout the entire run. Assigned race numbers will be published on the website before the event (from 3 April). It is advisable that runners check their assigned race numbers in advance in order to communicate them at the moment of the pick-up. In order to avoid queues, we kindly ask runners (those who have this possibility) to pick up their race numbers before Sunday during the times reserved for groups (more info below). 2

3 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR RACE NUMBERS PICK-UP ON THE RACE DAY (SUNDAY, 8 April): On SUNDAY, 8 April, runners should queue the line that corresponds to their running category: - Marathon: race numbers Half-marathon: race numbers Recreational run: race numbers GROUPS! SPECIAL INSTRUCTIOS FOR RACE NUMBERS PICK-UP: It will be possible to collect race numbers for groups: - from Wednesday, 4 April to Thursday, 6 April, in the salt warehouse Monfort in Portorož (opposite of the OMV petrol station on the road between Portorož and Bernardin, entrance from the sea side (you may want to make an appointment in advance, tel: ) - on Friday, 6 April from to and on Saturday, 7 April from 9.00 to in the Srednja šola IZOLA (Highschool), address: Prekomorskih brigad 7, Izola. Group representatives collect the race numbers of all group members. 4) REGISTRATION FEE WHAT DOES THE REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDE? As indicated in the call for registration published on the website, the registration fee includes: - a race number, - a disposable chip which is part of the race number (it is not possible to use your own chips), - a coupon for a cooked meal (more information are given below), - a sticker for clothing (more information are given below), - a clothing bag (more information are given below), - a medal for runners reaching the finish line, - refreshment drinks and snacks along the trail and in the finish line area, - a technical T-shirt, - a bandana, - a running bag, - promotional material; - technical security of the paths and medical assistence. 3

4 WATER STATIONS AND REFRESHMENT POINTS Refreshment points will be located along the marathon and half-marathon courses every 4 km. Runners will find there water in glasses, energy drinks, sugar cubes, chocolate, fruit (bananas, oranges). Water stations will be located between refreshment points where water in glasses and refreshment sponges will be available. Some refreshment points will be equipped with portable toilet cabins (see the plan of the running courses at ). Along the recreational run course there will be ONE water station and ONE refreshment point. The FINISH LINE REFRESHMENT STATION will be available and accessible only to runners wearing their race numbers. There will be a supply of bottled water and refreshments available: energy drinks, fruit (bananas and oranges), sugar cubes, biscuits. In the finish line area a regenerating massage booth will be available (marathon runners will have priority access). 5) SCHEDULE, STARTING LINE AND ZONES SCHEDULE AND STARTING LINE KAPKO Children's runs: IZOLA, Sončno nabrežje, Lonka Saturday, 7 April, from LUKA KOPER Marathon: ANKARAN, parking lot near the post office Sunday, 8 April, at Recreational run: IZOLA, Sončno nabrežje Sunday, 8 April, at OMV Half-marathon: IZOLA, Sončno nabrežje Sunday, 8 April, at Time measuring will end at 16.00; runners will be redirected to side walks and will be treated as road users. STARTING LINE AND ZONES The starting line area will be fenced. Access to the starting line zones will be authorised only to runners wearing their race numbers on their chests. Runners need to check-in in the starting area at least 15 minutes before the start: - of the marathon in Ankaran, - of the recreational run in Izola, - of the half-marathon in Izola. 4

5 The half-marathon starting area will be divided in 4 ZONES: - zone 1: runners with estimated running pace 4 min/km half-marathon, sponsor representatives, LK5IM ambassadors; - zone 2: runners with estimated running pace 5 min/km half-marathon, - zone 3: runners with estimated running pace 6 min/km half-marathon, - zone 4: all other runners. The marathon and the recreational run starting line areas will not be divided in time zones. Runners need to cross the starting line/carpet or they will not be detected by the time measuring system and they will not be classified on the results list. For a correct result, runners must cross the starting, middle and finish line measuring carpets. Runners need to make sure the race number is placed correctly and that the chip is not damaged. Runners are kindly asked to follow the instructions for the use of the chip. The chip is part of the race number and is given to all registered runners. 6) RACE TIME LIMITS, CHECKING POINTS TIME LIMITS: Marathon - underpass Camping Strunjan at km 21 3:00 h, - underpass Camping Strunjan at km 33 4:45 h, - at the finish line 6:00 h Half-marathon - at the finish line 4:00 h Recreational run - at the finish line 2:30 h At the above indicated points, time measuring will end after the time limits; late runners will be redirected to side walks and will be treated as road users. Their times at the finish line will not be measured. There will be THREE checking points on the marathon course, where marathon referees will follow and mark the runners classification. There will be NO tempo runners on the running courses. 7) WARMUP Warmup on the running course will be allowed only after the complete road closure. The organiser will provide group warmup 30 minutes before the start of the race. Warmup at the starting line will be allowed up to 15 minutes before the start. 8) RUNNERS SUPPORTERS, RUNNING WITH PETS It is forbidden to accompany runners by bike or other means of transport or to run with pets. Failing to complete this rule will result in the runner s disqualification. 5

6 It is NOT ALLOWED to hang on the race course; access is allowed only to SPECIFICALLY MARKED persons by the organiser: policemen, security staff, medical staff, organisers. 9) RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT AND AWARD CEREMONY The results will be displayed on a board in front of the Srednja šola (Highschool) Izola, where race numbers pick-up will be organised. Complaints will be accepted up to 20 minutes after the announcement. The award ceremony will take place at the central stage in parking lot LONKA according to the following schedule: Award ceremony: Recreation run: first three places absolute and barefoot running, and the youngest runners Award ceremony: OMV Half-marathon: first three places absolute (men, women) Award ceremony: OMV Half-marathon: first three places in the barefoot running category and in all age categories, the oldest runners (men, women) Award ceremony: LUKA KOPER Marathon: first three places absolute (men, women) Award ceremony: LUKA KOPER Marathon: first three places in the barefoot running category and in all age categories (men, women) Runners who will not collect their awards during the public award ceremony, will be able to do so in person in accordance with Daša Fabjan, tel , no later than 20 April After the stated date, runners will no longer be entitled to collect their prizes and awards. 10) AWARDS AND RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT Marathon, half-marathon and recreational runners will be able to print out their memorial prizes with their recorded results. The application will be available after the official results publication on the website Unofficial results will be published on the website and displayed on the board in front of Srednja šola Izola. They will be published also on the webpage of Primorske novice. Official results will be published on the website on Wednesday, 11 April ) MEDICAL ASSISTENCE Medical assistance will be available in the first aid booth in the starting-finish line area. Medical staff will be present also along the running courses. Several emergency vehicles will follow the participating runners along the paths. Petra s Angels will be present also this year at the KL5IM event. They will be 6

7 dressed in red vests and hats. This is a special Slovenian volunteer group, whose members provide additional assistance to runners along the course, support them and help them reach the finish line. 12) BUSES AND SHUTTLE TO THE MARATHON STARTING LINE On Sunday, 8 April, a free shuttle service will be available for marathon runners and their supporters between Izola and Ankaran, with departures at: The return ride for supporters is expected to take place at Runners and their supporters will be able to use also buses from Piran and Koper to Izola in the morning, and buses to Koper and Piran in the afternoon. For the afternoon ride, users will have to collect a special coupon for the ride, which will be available on the day of the event at the INFO point in front of the Srednja šola Izola (Highschool). Bus schedules will be published on the website and they will be available at the INFO point in front of the Srednja šola Izola (Highschool). The bus stop in Izola will be located on Prešernova cesta near the OŠ Vojka Šmuc (elementary school) (red sign on map). The number of seats and standing places on the buses is LIMITED. We would like to remind all runners and their supporters to leave home early enough and not wait until the last minute since we will not be able to guarantee free seats on the buses. 13) COUPON FOR A COOKED MEAL AND CATERING SERVICES Cooked meals will be available for runners on Sunday, 8 April, in parking lot LONKA in Izola. After handing the coupon at specifically marked places, runners will get a cooked meal consisting of the typical Istrian corn soup BOBIČI WITH or WITHOUT SAUSAGE (for those who ordered a vegetarian meal at the moment of registration). Runners will receive their meal coupons together with the race numbers. The soup without sausage will be suitable for people having coeliac disease (the soup will be gluten-free). 7

8 On Saturday, 7 April, there will be a PASTA PARTY, from to Runners and their supporters, who will come to Izola a day before the race, are kindly invited to join. There will be a dedicated coupon available for the Pasta Party. There will be a varied culinary offer available on Saturday, 7 April, and Sunday, 8 April, provided by SloRest for all participants and other guests. The offer will include fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. 14) CLOTHING STORAGE CLOTHING STORAGE IN IZOLA Clothing storage will be organised for all runners (also marathon runners) in the Srednja šola Izola; address: Prekomorskih brigad 7. Runners will store their clothes in numbered clothing bags, received by the organiser together with the race number. Runners will be able to retrieve their clothing bags upon the presentation of their race numbers (the race number attached to the runner s T-shirt will suffice). The organiser does not hold responsibility for clothing storage. A MINI CLOTHING STORAGE IN ANKARAN for marathon runners just before the race start. Runners will be able to store ONLY small pieces of clothing (windstoppers, sweaters, trousers) in a dedicated small bag, which will be added to the race number. Runners will be able to store all other things in the clothing storage in Izola. After the start of the marathon, all clothing bags will be transported to the central clothing storage in Srednja šola in Izola, where runners will later retrieve them. 15) CHANGING ROOMS, SHOWERS Changing rooms and showers will be available in Srednja šola Izola (Highschool), address: Prekomorskih brigad 7, Izola. Soap (shampoo) and towels will not be provided. 16) TOILET FACILITIES FOR RUNNERS Running courses portable toilet cabins: Portable toilet cabins will be available in most refreshment areas. See the plan of the running courses at. Izola: - Public toilets of LONKA parking lot, - portable toilet cabins in the starting-finish line area and in the central event area in LONKA parking lot, - portable toilet cabins in the marathon starting line area in Ankaran. 8

9 17) ORGANISED ACTIVITIES FOR RUNNERS CHILDREN Children s animation program Children s animation will be organised for the youngest visitors and runners children throughout the day. They will engage in children s running games and competitions in the playground, create in a quiet zone and have fun at various social games. On Saturday, 7 April, children s activities will be organised from to 17.00, on Sunday, 8 April, from 9.30 to You are kindly invited to visit the children s animation corner in LONKA parking lot. Kindergarten We inform all LK5IM runners who are bringing children to the event that on Sunday, 8 April, there will be a childcare service provided in the OŠ Dante Alighieri (elementary school), approximately 250 metres from the LONKA parking lot. Opening hours: Animators will take care of your children, play various games with them, children will create an Istrian flag, colour, paint their faces, watch cartoons. Snacks and drinks will be provided. In order to ease the organisation process, please inform us in advance of your need for childcare for your children via petragrmovsek@gmail.com or o at the info point on the day of the event. At the moment of registration, you will be asked to provide us with some information (contacts, eating habits of your children). Only parents or legal guardians should accompany their children to the childcare and sign a special form upon arrival and departure. 18) GETTING TO THE EVENT AREA It is possible to reach the event site in several ways. We recommend group transfers (carpooling), either by bus or by car. You can arrange a group transfer by car through the website A) GETTING TO IZOLA - from Ljubljana: highways A1 (Ljubljana Dekani) and H5 (Dekani Izola) - from Trieste (Italy): highway H5 (Škofije/Rabuiese Izola) - from Dragonja (Croatia): main road E751 (Dragonja/Plovanija Izola) - from Portorož: main road 111 Portorož - Izola Take the Izola - centre exit and follow the signs to the parking areas. Please note that the centre of Izola, as the central event site, will be closed for traffic. Do not drive to the centre and help us regulate the traffic and visitors. 9

10 B) GETTING TO ANKARAN from Ljubljana: highways A1 (Ljubljana Dekani) and H5 (Dekani Škofije) from Trieste (Italy): highway H5 (Škofije/Rabuiese Koper) from Dragonja (Croatia): main road E751 (Dragonja/Plovanija Izola) and highway H5 (Izola Škofije) from Portorož - Izola - Izola: main road 111 Portorož - Izola, highway H6 (Izola - Izola), highway H5 (Izola- Škofije) Leave H5 at the exit Škofije/Ankaran and take Jadranska cesta 406 to Ankaran. Supporters drop the runners in Ankaran and go park in Koper or Izola. Parking in Ankaran will not be possible due to the positioning of the starting line of the race in the central parking lot. Therefore, the organiser provides free shuttles from Izola to Ankaran from 7.45 and Mind the complete road closure from the crossroads in with Železniška cesta to Ankaran at Runners should be dropped in Ankaran at 9.30 the latest so that the supporters have enough time to leave in time. Special warning: Begin your journey towards the event site early enough. Travelling times will be longer than usual due to a great number of expected visitors. Consider that the parking areas will be crowded and you will have to park further than planned. The race number pick-up also takes some time. 19) PARKING Parking for runners IS NOT provided. We recommend that runners and other visitors use public and other parking lots: A) IZOLA We will be very grateful if you decide to use the P+R service and help us reduce the number of cars in the central event area. - RUDA, by Eurospin and Merkur stores, and under the overpass on the old regional road - in Jagodje, by the SPAR store 10

11 Available parking areas in Izola B) ANKARAN The running area will located on the Ankaran central parking lot. Therefore, PARKING IN ANKARAN WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE. Cars will be directed towards Debeli rtič or Koper. Use the parking areas in Izola and the free shuttle to Ankaran to the marathon starting line. The bus will depart from the the bus stop in Izola (Prešernova cesta near the OŠ Vojka Šmuc elementary school) only at 7.45, 8.00 and Please, mind also the complete road closure from the crossroads with Železniška cesta to Ankaran from 9.50 to

12 20) ROAD CLOSURES We would like to draw your attention to a number of road closures on the route Ankaran-Koper- Izola-Piran. Pay attention to the road closures hours, which are published on the website 21) LOST AND FOUND A Lost & Found point will be organised in Srednja šola Izola (Highschool). In case you find or lose anything, please, report it to the staff. 22) IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER In case of bad weather, the event areas will be slightly changed. All changes will be announced ON TIME (on 6 April the latest) on the website of the event in the section USEFUL INFORMATION. B.
