2 Thank you for your interest in ABYC membership. ABYC has been a family oriented sailing club since it was founded in The Club is noted for its tradition of small one-design boat racing. However, over the years many of the members have acquired a variety of keelboats. ABYC sponsors approximately ten invitational regattas each year, staffed by member volunteers. There are many other sailing and social events held throughout the year, including a junior instructional sailing program. You must have a current Regular Member sponsor you for membership along with four additional membership recommendations. There are three membership classifications available for initial membership application: Regular, Yachting, and Junior. If you would like to learn more about ABYC, please complete the attached membership inquiry form, check the box to request attendance at a general meeting, and return it to the ABYC office. We will arrange for you to attend a General Membership Meeting to learn more about ABYC and to get a chance to meet some of our members. 5 The following information outlines dues, boat storage and miscellaneous fees of ABYC: MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATIONS AND FEES Regular Membership Any person twenty-one (21) years of age or over. Regular Members may: serve as an officer, director and/or committee chairman or member enter into all activities for which the member may qualify under general Club rules vote on matters on which members have voting rights use the Club facilities subject to the Club rules and/or regulations and have priority over other classes of membership with respect to unassigned moorings A Regular Membership may be held by only one person except that a married couple may jointly hold a Regular Membership, in which case only one of them may vote or hold elective office at any one time. Dependent children of regular members will be Family Junior Members until they reach age 23. Yachting Membership The yachting membership is geared for ages 18 through 27 and the dues are proportionally structured. The yachting member has all the privileges of a regular member except no equity in the Club, no voting privileges and is ineligible to hold an office. A person who holds a yachting membership must actively participate in sailing events of the Club. When sailing as a skipper in any regatta, a yachting member must enter under the Club burgee, even if the yachting member is a member of another yacht club. A person who is a yachting member at the age of 27 may extend their yachting membership until age 30. Junior Membership The independent junior membership is for the young sailor from ages 9 through 17. A junior member may use the club facilities and participate in racing and social events. The Junior Member s guests are limited to only their parents, and Junior Members parents are not allowed club parking. Club charging privileges are extended to the Junior Member but are not available to the Junior Member s parents. Non-Resident Membership Existing Regular Members who will be temporarily residing outside the SCYA area may apply for Non- Resident statues. Non-residents will not have the right to vote or hold office and their ability to use the club facilities is at the discretion of the BOD. They do pay reduced dues, 50% of regular dues, but are still responsible for all mandated fees. Associate Non-Resident Membership Existing Regular or Non-Resident members who will be residing outside the SCYA area permanently may apply for Associate Non-Resident statues. Associate Non-residents will not have the right to vote, hold office, and are not permitted yard boat storage. Their ability to use the club facilities is at the discretion of the BOD. They do pay reduced dues, 25% of regular dues, but if they still hold Equity are responsible for all mandated fees. Anchor Membership A regular member, who has been a member for at least 25 years and is age 70 or over, may apply for anchor membership. An anchor member has all the privileges of a regular member except no equity in the Club or voting privileges and is ineligible to hold an office.

7 Boat Storage Fees Boat storage fees are based on the length of the boat and are billed monthly with the dues billing. All boats stored in the ABYC boat storage area must be a sailing craft. A small fee is charged to apply for boat storage.
