5 For your safety 2 For your safety 2.1 Authorised personne A operations described in this operating instructions manua must be carried out ony by trained speciaist personne authorised by the operator. During work on and with the device the required persona protection equipment must aways be worn. 2.2 Appropriate use VEGAWELL 51 is a suspension pressure transmitter for eve and gauge measurement. 2.3 Warning about misuse Inappropriate or incorrect use of the instrument can give rise to appication-specific hazards, e.g. vesse overfi or damage to system components through incorrect mounting or adjustment. 2.4 Genera safety instructions This is a are high-tech instrument requiring the strict observance of standard reguations and guideines. The user must take note of the safety instructions in this operating instructions manua, the country-specific instaation standards as we as a prevaiing safety reguations and accident prevention rues. 7 Product description 3 Product description 3.1 Configuration Scope of deivery Components The scope of deivery encompasses: VEGAWELL 51 pressure transmitter with suspension cabe Straining camp or threaded fitting (optionay avaiabe) Documentation - this operating instructions manua - test certificate - Ex specific safety instructions (with Ex versions), if necessary further certificates VEGAWELL 51 consists of the foowing components: Transmitter Suspension cabe The components are avaiabe in different versions. 8 Product description Fig. 1: Exampe of a VEGAWELL 51 with screwed connection 1 Transmitter 2 Suspension cabe 3 Threaded fitting 3.2 Principe of operation Area of appication VEGAWELL 51 is used for eve measurement in vesses and for gauge measurement in deep wes, e.g. in water/waste water appications. 1) Functiona principe The actua sensor eement is the CERTEC measuring ce with rugged ceramic diaphragm. The hydrostatic pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring ce via the ceramic diaphragm. This change is converted into an appropriate output signa. 1) For use in cosed vesses under vacuum, VEGAWELL 51 is avaiabe with absoute pressure measuring ranges. 8 VEGAWELL ma
9 Product description Suppy Two-wire eectronics 4 20 ma for power suppy and measured vaue transmission on the same cabe. The suppy votage range can differ depending on the instrument version. You can find data on votage suppy in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". 3.3 Operation VEGAWELL 51 with 4 20 ma eectronics has no adjustment option. 3.4 Packaging, transport and storage Packaging Transport Transport inspection Your instrument was protected by packaging during transport. Its capacity to hande norma oads during transport is assured by a test according to DIN EN The packaging of standard instruments consists of environment-friendy, recycabe cardboard. For specia versions, PE foam or PE foi is aso used. Dispose of the packaging materia via speciaised recycing companies. Transport must be carried out under consideration of the notes on the transport packaging. Nonobservance of these instructions can cause damage to the device. The deivery must be checked for competeness and possibe transit damage immediatey at receipt. Ascertained transit damage or conceaed defects must be appropriatey deat with. Storage Up to the time of instaation the packaging must be cosed and stored according to the orientation and storage markings on the outside. 11 Mounting 4 Mounting 4.1 Genera instructions Wetted materias Instaation position Make sure that the wetted parts of VEGAWELL 51, especiay the sea and process fitting, are suitabe for the existing process conditions such as pressure, temperature etc. as we as the chemica properties of the medium. You can find the specifications in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". Note the foowing points when seecting the instaation ocation. Side movements of the transmitter can cause measurement errors à Therefore, mount VEGAWELL 51 in a cam area or in a suitabe protective tube Information: We recommend the measuring instrument hoder from the VEGA ine of accessory (artice no. BARMONT.D) to fasten VEGAWELL 51. Pressure compensation The connection cabe has a capiary for atmospheric pressure compensation à Lead the cabe end into a dry space or into a suitabe termina housing. Information: For this purpose, VEGA recommends VEGABOX 02. It contains terminas and a fiter eement for pressure compensation. A suitabe protective cover is avaiabe for mounting outdoors. 15 Connecting to power suppy 5 Connecting to power suppy 5.1 Preparing the connection Note safety instructions Aways keep in mind the foowing safety instructions: Connect ony in the compete absence of ine votage VEGAWELL 51 contains an integrated overvotage protection. If overvotage is expected, overvotage protection instruments shoud be instaed to protect connected instruments Tip: We recommend the foowing VEGA overvotage arresters: ÜSB 62-36G.X (use in a separate housing) Take note of safety instructions for Ex appications In hazardous areas you shoud take note of the appropriate reguations, conformity and type approva certificates of the sensors and power suppy units. Seect power suppy Seecting connection cabe Power suppy and current signa are carried on the same twowire cabe. The votage suppy range can differ depending on the instrument version. You can find data on votage suppy in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". Provide a reiabe separation of the suppy circuit from the mains circuits according to DIN VDE 0106 part 101. VEGA power suppy units VEGATRENN 149AEx, VEGASTAB 690, VEGADIS 371 as we as a VEGAMETs meet this requirement. When using one of these instruments, protection cass III is ensured for VEGAWELL 51. Bear in mind the foowing factors regarding suppy votage: Output votage of the power suppy unit can be ower under nomina oad (with a sensor current of 20.5 ma or 22 ma in case of faut message) Infuence of additiona instruments in the circuit (see oad vaues in chapter "Technica data") VEGAWELL 51 is connected with standard two-wire cabe without screen. An outer cabe diameter of 5 9 mm ensures the sea effect of the cabe entry in VEGABOX 02. If VEGAWELL ma 15
16 Connecting to power suppy eectromagnetic interference is expected which is above the test vaues of EN for industria areas, we recommend the use of screened cabe. 1 2 Cabe screening and grounding Fig. 5: Connect VEGAWELL 51 to power suppy 1 Direct connection 2 Connection via VEGABOX 02 If screened cabe is necessary, connect the cabe screen on both ends to ground potentia. In the pastic housing, in VEGABOX 02 or in VEGADIS 12, the screen must be connected directy to the interna ground termina. The ground termina outside on the housing must be connected to the potentia equaisation. If potentia equaisation currents are expected, the connection on the processing side must be made via a ceramic capacitor (e.g. 1 nf, 1500 V). The ow frequency potentia equaisation currents are thus suppressed, but the protective effect against high frequency interference signas remains. 16 VEGAWELL ma
17 Connecting to power suppy Seect connection cabe for Ex appications Take note of the corresponding instaation reguations for Ex appications. 5.2 Connection procedure Direct connection Connection via VEGABOX 01 B Proceed as foows: 1 Wire the connection cabe up to the connection compartment. The bending radius must be at east 25 mm. 2) 2 Connect the wire ends to the screw terminas according to the wiring pan Proceed as foows: 1 Snap VEGABOX 01 B onto the carrier rai or screw it to the mounting pate 2 Loosen the cover screws and remove the cover 3 Shift cabe through the cabe gand into VEGABOX 01 B 4 Loosen the screws with a screwdriver 5 Insert the wire ends into the open terminas according to the wiring pan 6 Tighten the screws with a screwdriver 7 Check the hod of the wires in the terminas by ighty puing on them 8 Tighten the compression nut of the cabe entry. The sea ring must competey encirce the cabe 9 Connect the suppy cabe according to steps 3 to 8 10 Screw the housing cover back on The eectrica connection is finished. 2) The connection cabe is aready preconfectioned. The vaue corresponds to the actua eve as we as to settings aready carried out, e.g. the factory setting. 3) Connect screen to ground termina. Proceed as foows: 1 Remove the fiter adapter from the transparent capiary ine 2 Cut the suspension cabe with an edge cutter to the requested ength Caution: Do not squeeze the capiary cabe, this wi infuence the pressure compensation. If necessary, rework with a sharp knife. 3 Remove approx. 10 cm of the cabe mante, strip off approx. 1 cm of the wire ends Insert the fiter adapter The work steps are finished. 6.4 Instrument repair If a repair is necessary, pease proceed as foows: You can downoad a return form (23 KB) from the Internet on our homepage under: "Downoads - Forms and certificates - Repair form". 21 Dismounting 7 Dismounting 7.1 Dismounting steps Warning: Before dismounting, be aware of dangerous process conditions such as e.g. pressure in the vesse, high temperatures, corrosive or toxic products etc. Take note of chapters "Mounting" and "Connecting to power suppy" and carry out the isted steps in reverse order. 7.2 Disposa The instrument consists of materias which can be recyced by speciaised recycing companies. We use recycabe materias and have designed the eectronics to be easiy separabe. WEEE directive 2002/96/EG This instrument is not subject to the WEEE directive 2002/96/ EG and the respective nationa aws (in Germany, e.g. EektroG). Pass the instrument directy on to a speciaised recycing company and do not use the municipa coecting points. These may be used ony for privatey used products according to the WEEE directive. Correct disposa avoids negative effects to persons and environment and ensures recycing of usefu raw materias.
