5 For your safety 2 For your safety 2.1 Authorised personne A operations described in this operating instructions manua must be carried out ony by trained speciaist personne authorised by the operator. For safety and warranty reasons, any interna work on the instruments must be carried out ony by personne authorised by the manufacturer Appropriate use VEGACAL 63 is a sensor for continuous eve measurement. Detaied information on the appication range of VEGACAL 63 is avaiabe in chapter "Product description". 2.3 Warning about misuse Inappropriate or incorrect use of the instrument can give rise to appication-specific hazards, e.g. vesse overfi or damage to system components through incorrect mounting or adjustment. 2.4 Genera safety instructions The VEGACAL 63 is a high-tech instrument requiring the strict observance of standard reguations and guideines. The user must take note of the safety instructions in this operating instructions manua, the country-specific instaation standards (e.g. the VDE reguations in Germany) as we as a prevaiing safety reguations and accident prevention rues. 2.5 CE conformity VEGACAL 63 is in CE conformity with EMC (89/336/EWG) and LVD (73/23/EWG). The range of avaiabe functions depends on the respective software version of the individua components. These safety instructions are part of the operating instructions manua and come with the Exapproved instruments. 2.8 Manufacturer decaration In conformity with DIN EN /2004, para , point c1, the capacitive probe VEGACAL 63 is suitabe for use in zone 2. 7 For your safety Operate you instrument in the range of the specified eectrica imit vaues. Permissibe suppy votage: see "Technica data" Mount and operate the instrument in such a way that no ignition danger is expected by eectrostatic charges. The process fitting, the pastic-coated/covered probe part or the housing are made of eectricay non-conductive pastic (depending on the version). Make sure that the sea is mounted correcty between ower part of the housing and cover. Screw the cover on tighty. Make sure that there is no exposive atmosphere, if you want to operate the instrument with open cover Make sure that the cabe gand is tight and strain-reieved. The outer diameter of the connection cabe must be adapted to the cabe gand. Tighten the pressure screw of the cabe gand carefuy. Cover unused openings for cabe gands tighty Mount the instrument in such a position that the sensor cannot touch the vesse wa or vesse instaations. Keep the infuences of product movements in the vesse in mind. 8 Product description 3 Product description 3.1 Configuration Scope of deivery Components The scope of deivery encompasses: VEGACAL 63 eve switch documentation - this operating instructions manua - Ex-specific safety instructions (with Ex versions), if necessary further certificates. 9 Product description It is designed for industria use in a areas of process technoogy and can be appied in a areas of industria process measurement. Fuy insuated probes such as VEGACAL 63 are preferaby used in conductive iquids. Physica principe The probe, the measured product and the vesse wa form an eectrica capacitor. The capacitance is infuenced by three main factors Fig. 2: Functiona principe - Pate capacitor 1 Distance between the eectrode surfaces 2 Size of the eectrode surfaces 3 Type of dieectric between the eectrodes The probe and the vesse wa are the capacitor pates. The measured product and the isoation are the dieectric. Due to the higher dieectric constant (DK vaue) of the isoation and the conductive product compared to air, the capacitance increases as the probe is graduay covered. The capacitance as we as the resistance change are converted in the osciator into a eve-proportiona signa. Power suppy and bus communication Power suppy is via the Profibus DP/PA segment couper or VEGALOG 571 EP cards. A two-wire cabe acc. to Profibus specification serves as carrier of both power and digita data signas for mutipe sensors. The instrument profie of VEGACAL 63 corresponds to profie specification version 3.0. GSD/EDD The GSD (instrument master fies) and bitmap fies necessary for panning your Profibus-DP-(PA) communication network are avaiabe from the downoad section on the VEGA homepage under "Services - Downoads - VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA 9

In apdm environment, an EDD (Eectronic Device Description) is aso required to enabe the fu range of sensor functions (aso avaiabe as a downoad).a CDwith the appropriate fies can be ordered via e-mai under info@de. vega.com or by phone from one of the VEGA agencies under the order number "DRIVER.S". 3.3 Adjustment VEGACAL 63 can be adjusted with three different adjustment media: the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM with the suitabe VEGA DTM in conjunection with an adjustment software acc. to the FDT/DTM standard, e.g. PACTware and PC the Simatic adjustment program PDM The entered parameters are generay saved in VEGACAL 63, optionay aso in PLICSCOM or in PACTware. 3.4 Storage and transport Packaging Storage and transport temperature Your instrument was protected by packaging during transport. Its capacity to hande norma oads during transport is assured by a test acc. to DIN EN The packaging of standard instruments consists of environment-friendy, recycabe cardboard. For specia versions, PE foam or PE foi is aso used. Dispose of the packaging materia via speciaised recycing companies. 11 Mounting 4 Mounting 4.1 Genera instructions Instaaton ocation Handing Moisture Seect an instaation position you can easiy reach for mounting and connecting as we as ater retrofitting of an indicating and adjustment modue. The housing can be rotated by 330 without the use of any toos. You can aso insta the indicating and adjustment modue in four different positions (each dispaced by 90 ). With screwed versions, the housing must not be used for screwing in! Tightening can cause damages on the ocking piston of the housing. To screw in, use the hexagon above the thread. Use the recommended cabes (see chapter "Connecting to power suppy") and tighten the cabe gand. You can give your VEGACAL 63 additiona protection against moisture penetration by eading the connection cabe downward in front of the cabe entry. Rain and condensation water can thus drain off. This appies mainy to mounting outdoors, in areas where moisture is expected (e.g. by ceaning processes) or on cooed or heated vesses. Fig. 3: Measures against moisture penetration Pressure/Vacuum The process fitting must be seaed if there is gauge or ow pressure in the vesse. Before use, check if the sea materia is resistant against the measured product. VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA 11

12 Mounting Insuating measures, such as e.g. covering the thread with tefon tape, can interrupt the necessary eectrica connection with meta vesses. For this reason, ground the probe on the vesse or use a conductive sea materia. Vesse materia Vesse forms Meta vesse Make sure that the mechanica connection of the probe to the vesse is eectricay conductive to ensure sufficient grounding. Use conductive seas such as e.g. copper or ead etc. Insuating measures, such as covering the thread with Tefon tape, can interrupt the necessary eectrica connection with meta vesses. For this reason, ground the probe on the vesse or use a conductive sea materia. Non-conductive vesse In non-conductive vesses, e.g. pastic tanks, the second poe of the capacitor must be provided separatey, e.g. in the form of a concentric tube. If possibe, the capacitive probe shoud be mounted verticay or parae to the counter eectrode. This appies particuary to appications in non-conductive products. In cyindrica tanks, spherica tanks or other asymmetrica tank forms, noninear eve vaues are generated due to the varying distance to the vesse wa. Use a concentric tube in non-conductive products or inearize the meas. signa. 4.2 Mounting information Mounting position During operation, the probe must not touch any instaations or the vesse wa. The measured vaue can aso change if the distance to the vesse wa changes consideraby. If necessary, secure the end of the probe (insuated). 12 VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA

13 Mounting Fig. 4: Fasten the probe 1 Probe 2 Pastic seeve In vesses with conica bottom it can be advantageous to mount the sensor in the center of the vesse, as measurement is then possibe down to the owest point of the vesse bottom. Infowing materia If VEGACAL 63 is mounted in the fiing stream, unwanted switching signas may be generated. Mount VEGACAL 63 at a ocation in the vesse where no disturbing infuence from e.g. fiing openings, agitators, etc. can occur. This appies particuary to instrument versions with a onger probe. 15 Connecting to power suppy 5 Connecting to power suppy 5.1 Preparing the connection Note safety instructions Take note of safety instructions for Ex appications Seect power suppy Seect connection cabe Cabe gand ½ NPT Aways observe the foowing safety instructions: Connect ony in the compete absence of ine votage If overvotages are expected, overvotage arresters shoud be instaed acc. to Profibus specification. In hazardous areas you shoud take note of the appropriate reguations, conformity and type approva certificates of the sensors and power suppy units. Power is suppied via a Profibus DP/PA segment couper or a VEGALOG 571 EP input card. The power suppy range can differ depending on the instrument version. The exact range is stated in the "Technica data" in the "Suppement". VEGACAL 63 is connected with screened cabe acc. to the Profibus specification. Power suppy and digita bus signa are carried over the same two-wire connection cabe. An outer cabe diameter of 5 9 mm ensures the sea effect of the cabe entry. Pease make sure that your instaation is carried out acc. to the Profibus specification. In particuar, make sure that the termination of the bus is done with appropriate terminating resistors. On VEGACAL 63 with cabe gand ½ NPT and pastic housing, a meta ½" threaded insert is mouded in the pastic housing. Caution: No grease shoud be used when screwing the NPT cabe gand or stee tube into the threaded insert. Standard grease can contain additives affecting the connection between threaded insert and housing. This wi infuence the stabiity of the connection and the tightness of the housing. Cabe screening and grounding In systems with potentia equaisation, connect the cabe screen directy to ground potentia at the power suppy unit, in the connection box and at the sensor. The screen in the sensor must be connected directy to the interna ground termina. The ground termina outside on the housing must be connected to the potentia equaisation (ow impedance). 16 Connecting to power suppy In systems without potentia equaisation, connect the cabe screen directy to ground potentia at the power suppy unit and at the sensor. In the connection box or T-distributor, the screen of the short stub to the sensor must not be connected to ground potentia or to another cabe screen. The cabe screens to the power suppy unit and to the next distributor must be connected to each other and aso connected to ground potentia via a ceramic capacitor (e.g. 1 nf, 1500 V). The ow frequency potentia equaisation currents are thus suppressed, but the protective effect against high frequency interference signas remains. The tota capacitance of the cabe and of a capacitors must not exceed 10 nf in Ex appications. Seect connection cabe for Ex appications Take note of the corresponding instaation reguations for Ex appications. In particuar, make sure that no potentia equaisation currents fow over the cabe screen. In case of grounding on both sides this can be achieved by the use of a capacitor or a separate potentia equaisation. 5.2 Connection steps Proceed as foows: 1 Unscrew the housing cover 2 If an indicating and adjustment modue is instaed, remove it by turning it sighty to the eft. 3 Loosen compression nut of the cabe entry 4 Remove approx. 10 cm (4 in) of the cabe mante, strip approx. 1 cm (0.4 in) insuation from the ends of the individua wires 5 Insert the cabe into the sensor through the cabe entry 6 Lift the opening evers of the terminas with a screwdriver (see foowing iustration) 7 Insert the wire ends into the open terminas according to the wiring pan 16 VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA

24 Setup with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM 6 Setup with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM 6.1 Short description Function/Configuration The indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM is used for measured vaue dispay, adjustment and diagnosis. It can be mounted in the foowing housing versions and instruments: A sensors of the pics instrument famiy, in the singe as we as in the doube chamber housing (optionay in the eectronics or connection compartment) Externa indicating and adjustment unit VEGADIS 61 Note: You wi find detaied information on the adjustment in the operating instructions manua of the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM. 6.2 Insert the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM Insert/remove PLICSCOM PLICSCOM can be inserted or removed at any time. It is not necessary to interrupt the power suppy. Proceed as foows: 1 Unscrew the housing cover 2 Pace PLICSCOM in the desired position on the eectronics (you can choose any one of four different positions - each dispaced by 90 ) 3 Press PLICSCOM ighty onto the eectronics and turn it to the right unti it snaps in. 4 Screw housing cover with inspection window tighty back on Remova is carried out in reverse order. PLICSCOM is powered by the sensor, an additiona connection is not necessary. 24 VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA

The LC dispay indicates the individua menu items. The functions of the individua keys are shown in the above iustration. Approx. 10 minutes after the ast pressing of a key, an automatic reset to measured vaue indication is triggered. Any vaues not confirmed with [OK] wi not be saved. 26 VEGACAL 63 - Profibus PA

27 Setup with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM 6.4 Setup procedure Switch on phase Address setting Parameter adjustment After VEGACAL 63 is connected to votage suppy or after votage recurrence, the instrument carries out a sef-test for approx. 30 seconds. The foowing steps are carried out: Interna check of the eectronics Indication of the instrument type, the firmware version as we as the sensor TAGs (sensor name) status byte goes briefy to faut vaue Then the current measured vaue wi be dispayed and the corresponding digita output signa wi be outputted to the cabe. 3) Before starting the actua parameter adjustment of a Profibus PA sensor, the address setting must first be carried out. You wi find a detaied description in the operating instructions manua of PLICSCOM or in the onine hep of PACTware or DTM. VEGACAL 63 measures the capacitance of the respective product. To dispay the actua eve of the product, an aocation of the measured capacitance to the percentage height must be carried out. For this adjustment, the capacitance is entered with emptied and fied vesse. If the vesse cannot be emptied or fied competey, you can carry out the adjustment aso with two known eves - for exampe with 10 % and 90 %. The difference between the empty and fu adjustment vaues shoud be as arge as possibe. The actua eve can then be cacuated on the basis of these settings. VEGACAL 63 must be instaed. A change of eve is necessary for this adjustment. In the main menu item "Basic adjustment", the individua submenu items shoud be seected one after the other and provided with the correct parameter vaues. Tip: If the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM remains on the probe as a dispay, we recommend saving the sensor data in PLICSCOM. 3) The vaues correspond to the actua eve as we as to the settings aready carried out, e.g. defaut setting. 28 Setup with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM Use the function "Copy sensor data". Start your parameter adjustment with the foowing menu items of the basic adjustment: Carrying out min. adjustment To be on the safe side, note the adjustment vaues for fu and empty. If an adjustment procedure fais, it is not necessary to again carry out a eve change. These vaues can be hepfu if the eectronics has to be exchanged. % Vaue Empty adjustment Fu adjustment Tab. 2: Adjustment protoco Tip: For min. adjustment the vesse shoud be as empty as possibe, and for max. adjustment, as fu as possibe. If the vesse is aready fu, start with max. adjustment. Note: If possibe, the vesse shoud be as empty as possibe for min. adjustment. Proceed as foows: 1 Move from the measured vaue dispay to the main menu by pushing [OK]. Basic adjustment Dispay Diagnostics Service Info 2 Seect the menu item "Basic adjustment" with [->] and confirm with [OK]. Now the menu item "Min. adjustment" is dispayed. 30 Setup with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM Damping To suppress fuctuation in the measured vaue dispay, e.g. caused by an agitated product surface, an integration time can be set. This time can be between 0 and 999 seconds. Keep in mind that this setting wi increase the reaction time of the measurement, and that the reaction to quick changes of the measured vaue wi be deayed. In genera, a time of a few seconds is sufficient to smooth the measured vaue dispay. Damping 0 s Enter the requested parameter via the appropriate keys, save your settings and jump to the next menu item with the [->] key. Linearization curve A inearization is necessary for a vesses in which the vesse voume does not increase ineary with the eve - e.g. with a cyindrica or spherica tank - and the indication or output of the voume is required. Corresponding inearization curves are preprogrammed for these vesses. They represent the correation between the eve percentage and vesse voume. By activating the appropriate curve, the voume percentage of the vesse is dispayed correcty. If the voume shoud not be dispayed in percent but e.g. in or kg, a scaing can be aso set in the menu item "Dispay". Linearization curve inear Enter the requested parameter via the appropriate keys, save your settings and jump to the next menu item with the [->] key. Sensor-TAG In this menu item you can enter an unambiguous designation for the sensor, e.g. the measurement oop name or the tank or product designation. In digita systems and in the documentation of arger pants, a singuar designation shoud be entered for exact identification of individua measuring sites. In Ex appications, ony an instrument and an eectronics modue with appropriate Ex approva may be used. If there is no eectronics modue avaiabe on site, one can be ordered from the VEGA agency serving you. Sensor seria number The order data of the sensor must be oaded into the new eectronics modue. This can be done: at the factory by VEGA personne or on site by the user In both cases, the sensor seria number is necessary. The seria numbers are stated on the type abe of the instrument or on the deivery note. Information: When oading on site, the order data must be downoaded from the Internet (see Operating Instructions manua of the osciator). Assignment The osciators are adapted to the respective sensor and differ in their signa output or in their power suppy. You can find a suitabe osciator in the foowing overview. The osciators differ ony in their signa output and are suitabe for a series 60 sensors. 41 Dismounting 9 Dismounting 9.1 Dismounting steps Warning: Before dismounting, be aware of dangerous process conditions such as e.g. pressure in the vesse, high temperatures, corrosive or toxic products etc. Take note of the instructions in chapters "Mounting" and "Connecting to power suppy" and carry out the isted steps in reverse order. 9.2 Disposa VEGACAL 63 consists of materias which can be recyced by speciaised recycing companies. We use recycabe materias and have designed the eectronic modues to be easiy separabe. WEEE directive 2002/96/EG This instrument is not subject to the WEEE directive 2002/96/ EG and the respective nationa aws (in Germany, e.g. EektroG). Pass the instrument directy on to a speciaised recycing company and do not use the municipa coecting points. These may be used ony for privatey used products acc. to the WEEE directive. 47 Suppement 10.2 Profibus PA Instrument master fie The instrument master fie (GSD) contains the characteristic data of the Profibus PA instrument. These data are, e.g. the permissibe transmission rates as we as information on diagnostics vaues and the format of the measured vaue outputted by the PA instrument. A bitmap fie is aso provided for the panning too of the Profibus network. This fie is automaticay instaed with the GSD fie. The bitmap fie is used for symboic indication of the PA instrument in the configuration too. Ident number Each Profibus instrument gets an unambiguous ident number (ID number) from the Profibus user organisation (PNO). This ID number is aso incuded in the name of the GSD fie. For VEGACAL 63 the ID number is 0x076(hex) and the GSD fie CL 076E.GSD. Optionay to this manufacturer-specific GSD fie, PNO provides aso a genera so-caed profie-specific GSD fie. For VEGACAL 63 you have to use the genera GSD fie PA GSD. If the genera GSD fie is used, the sensor must be set to the profie-specific ident number via the DTM software. By defaut, the sensor operates with the manufacturer-specific ID number. Cycica data traffic The master cass 1 (e.g. PLC) cycicay reads out measured vaues from the sensor during operation.
