Living rivers and akes, intact groundwater resources, a secure and reiabe water suppy and efficient wastewater disposa are fundamenta requirements for environmentay sound economic deveopment. To avoid harming nature, contaminated water must be treated before it is aowed to fow directy or indirecty back into the natura water cyce. The mechanica separation process is designed to separate mixtures of substances. The aim is to remove one or more components of the mixture. The operating principe of the oi and ight iquid separator is based on the difference in density between the water and the components being separated from it. The ighter iquid rises to the top, coects on the surface of the water and can then be removed and disposed of. Coaescence separators are an enhancement of standard petroeum separators. These systems work on the coaescence principe, i.e. encouraging the merging of sma oi partices into arger ones. Even the smaest drops of oi wi then foat to the surface as a resut of gravity, where they can be separated off. AQUAFIX separators form part of a controed disposa concept and wi deiver many years of reiabe performance. The range consists of high quaity systems made of poyethyene, poypropyene, stee or concrete. Each system is individuay measured and customised to suit the construction project, thus guaranteeing many years of efficient water treatment. AQUAFIX separators are aways state of the art and compy with a reevant standards and reguations. 2

Requirements Water is one of the most vauabe resources on Earth. Germany has one of the best deveoped sewage systems in the word. If both are to be protected and kept in good condition for our descendants, efficient ceansing systems are required. In fue stations, industria and coercia areas where surface water or effuents are pouted with hydrocarbon compounds, ight iquid separators are needed that satisfy the rigorous requirements of the norms and reguations governing groundwater protection. Effuents pouted with grease and fatty acids can cause enormous damage to drain systems and sewage pants. This is where AQUAFIX-Grease and Starch Separators make a vauabe contribution to protecting the environment. Warning systems Warning system type 1 The W1 LAL-SRW-PF-01 warning system is an aarming device for ight iquid separators (petro, oi and coaescence separators) that is icensed for operation in potentiay exposive areas (Zone 0). It is used to detect the oi ayer thickness in a ight iquid separator. The warning system consists of a signaing unit with LED s for Power, System OK, Layer thickness aarm and Sensor error and an acoustic aarm. The acoustic aarm can be manuay disabed. The Sensor error diode cannot be acknowedged unti the cause of the aarm has actuay been rectified. A sensor that creates an eectrica fied is suspended in the separator. When the ight iquid ayer in a separator becomes thicker and the separating ayer between the water and the ight iquid is reocated downwards, the tip of the sensor is suspended in the ight iquid. This affects the eectrica fied and an aarm is triggered. Item no.: Warning system type 2 The W2 LAL-SRW-PF-08 warning system is an aarming device for ight iquid separators. It has the same signaing unit, but has negative switching. In warning system 2 an aarm is signaed when current is fowing. As soon as the iquid eve increases and the probe tips reach the surface of the water, an aarm is triggered. In this case the cause of the backup in the separator is irreevant. For exampe, if the coaescence materia is soied and preventing an adequate water fow, an aarm is signaed. An aarm is aso triggered if the pipeine behind the separator is bocked or the entire system is hydrauicay overoaded because of heavy rainfa. The use of aarm systems with big stee AQUAFIX SKG, SKBP, SKGBP2 and SKGBPL separators is strongy recoended because of the arge quantity of ight iquid that is stored! Disposa Separator systems must be drained at east every six months, but shoud not be aowed to fi to more than 85% of their storage. Ceaning must occur more often if the storage of the separator or sudge trap is exceeded. Operation must not be interrupted. A separated materia must be drained, ceaned and taken away for disposa by an approved disposa company. Pease empty the separator and the sudge trap of this type of system at the same time if possibe. First extract the oi ayer from the system and then the ayer of water beneath it, into separate tanks if possibe. Cean foat and sea every time the system is emptied and check operation thereof. With coaescence separators: If the coaescence materia is soied, remove coaescence materia, cean above sudge trap, give damaged coaescence materia to disposa company and repace with new materia. Repace coaescence materia. The sudge trap has a coaescence chamber access fap for removing the coaescence materia. Refi system with fresh water whenever it is emptied and ceaned. Attention! Aways hod foat of sea by hand unti it is foating when fiing the system. Use mobie adder when entering the system. Extract air/vapour mixture beforehand. Take the reevant safety precautions! Foow the accident prevention reguations! In the event of torrentia rainfa, a sudden infux into the separator can occur with arge separators. Carefuy check that a system components are in good working order and undamaged. Maintenance: The coaescence materia must be checked monthy for soiing. Pease check competeness of deivery. Note any missing parts or transit damage that has occurred on the deivery note iediatey. Compaints that are received ater wi not be accepted. The separator system must be instaed in a ocation outside the washing areas where it wi not overfow or back up, as cose as possibe to the ocation where the waste water occurs. It must aso be in the open, frostfree and easiy accessibe for ceaning vehices. The drains and pipes must be abe to drain unti empty. 3. The base of the excavation must be eve. If no suitabe soi is avaiabe, create a 10 cm thick bed of sand and fine grave and compress. If the ground is non-oad bearing, make a staticay measured foundation sab. Put a 10 cm compensation ayer of sand onto the foundation sab. 4. Take thickness of foundation and compensation ayer into consideration during height measurements. Pay attention to height information in instaation drawing. 5. The tanks must be instaed in a eve position. Do not confuse the inet with the outet! Adhere to order of tanks! Maintain sope! Recoended tota incine of system 2-5%! 6. Insta system so that top edge is higher than fina admission point. 8. Arrange maintenance shaft at outet side such that a separator areas are accessibe and the foats and the coaescence insert can be removed if necessary. 9. Ensure that the seas are correcty paced! Pease use an adequate quantity of antiseize agent. It is advisabe to offset the reative positions of the shaft eements in mortar or using hose bearings. 10. The distance between the individua eements shoud be cm. 11. Ensure that pipeines are connected without eaks. 12. Fi a tanks with fresh water before fiing and check for eaks. This eak test is mandatory! 13. Do not ater positions of tanks and ines when fiing and compressing with sand. Pease pay attention to the provided drawing. 14. When a tanks, covering pates, tops and covers and connecting pipes have been correcty ocated, the system must be ceaned. 15.
