The purpose of TFE coating is to suppy a ore even distribution of ubricant than is noray found when using standard sef-ubricating pastics on stee. The wear ife, coefficient of friction and resuting torque to drive a ead screw asseby are highy governed by the abiity of the engineered pastic to suppy sufficient ubrication to the nut/screw interface. Kerkote TFE Coating Kerkote TFE coating covering the entire screw surface resuts in an extreey even ubrication distribution. Haydon Kerk Motion Soutions has deveoped a custo coposition Kerkote TFE specificay for our ead screw and nut aterias. It is appied using an autoated process and provides extended nut ife and sooth operation with itte additiona cost. Kerkote TFE is a soft coating, a ong-ter dry ubricant that is optiized for softer pastics ike acetas and nyons, with or without echanica reinforceent. Lubrication to the nut/screw interface occurs by the nut picking up Kerkote TFE partices fro the coating as we as fro the igration of the interna ubricant within the pastic nut. Athough care is taken to ensure that chips and voids do not occur in the coating, sa voids have been shown to have no effect on syste perforance. The transfer of TFE to the nut continues throughout the operating ife of the asseby as ong as the nut periodicay traves over areas with Kerkote TFE coating. The ubricant, athough soid, aso has soe spreading abiity as in fuid ubricants. Kerkote TFE coated screws provide the axiu eve of sef-ubrication and shoud not be additionay ubricated or used in environents where ois or other ubricant containation is possibe. Back Ice TFE Coating Back Ice TFE coating shares any of the benefits of Kerkote TFE but, in contrast, is a hard coating that offers exceptiona durabiity in a types of environents, with virtuay any type of poyer nut. Back Ice TFE coating reains on the screw, offering a ow friction surface upon which the nut traves. Rather than acting as a dry ubricant, Back Ice TFE is an anti-friction coating whose surface properties dispace the eta to which it is appied. Though it is not intended for use with eta or gass fiber reinforced nuts, Back Ice TFE is bonded securey to the screw s surface and can withstand abrasion fro containation, rigid poyer systes, fuid ipingeent and wash down appications. Back Ice TFE can be used in the presence of ore aggressive environent conditions, or anywhere reduced friction and a peranent coating is desired. Both Kerkote and Back Ice TFE coatings offer the advantages of dry ubrication. These are aintenance-free coatings that are designed to ast the ife of the product. They are intended to be used without additiona ubricants, thereby further increasing the vaue of Kerk ead-screw assebies through eiination of the ost coon faiure of screw driven drives, ubrication faiure. There are certain appications where externa ubrication ay be desired. These incude the use of nut aterias such as gass reinforced pastic or eta.
