2 Introduction Gas Networks Ireand constructs and extends the natura gas network in Ireand to the highest safety standards. We deiver natura gas through the pipeine network to over 673,000 customers throughout the country and we are responsibe for connecting a natura gas customers to the network.

3 Gas services renewa programme Gas Networks Ireand is committed to ensuring that we provide a safe network to a our customers. We make every effort to provide our services in a prompt, efficient and safe manner, and to a high standard. Gas Networks Ireand continuousy seeks to improve the eves of service that we provide on a daiy basis to our customers and we aim to achieve service exceence in a aspects of our business. We are currenty undertaking a programme to reinforce the safety of the gas services in your area. This wi invove the renewa of the gas service at your premises, by repacing or reocating the existing service pipe and/or meter box. Exampe of a meter box in an area with the potentia to be encosed. Whie there is no immediate danger your meter is ocated in a position that can be or is encosed by a porch and this needs to be rectified by either repacing the existing gas service pipe or moving the meter from its current position. There wi be no cost to you for the work carried out. Pease note however that it wi resut in the temporary disconnection of your gas suppy. 4 Having your service renewed We wi contact you to make an appointment to repace your existing gas service suppy pipe. You wi need to provide access to your property on the day of the appointment. Your gas suppy wi be temporariy interrupted for the duration of the repacement work. We wi aso be carrying out a safety test and inspection (Annex E I.S.813, which is the Irish Standard Code of Practice for Gas instaations). This is an extra service we are providing free of charge to our customers to ensure that the interna pipe work and natura gas appiances are operating in a safe manner. Your meter may need to be moved if it is not possibe to renew the suppy to the origina point. If the meter needs to be moved, new pipework wi be instaed. We wi contact you before this work is done and wi discuss the options avaiabe to you. Every effort wi be made to ensure that this interruption to your gas suppy is kept to a minimum and you wi be advised, in advance, when it wi occur. 5 Reinstatement In order to carry out the renewa of your gas service, we wi need to excavate within your property. Due to the nature of the work being carried out, it wi be necessary for us to make repairs to the ground surrounding the meter upon competion of the work. This is known as reinstatement of the ground and it is an essentia step in competing the job. The initia reinstatement wi ony be temporary as this aows the backfi in the excavation to sette, so that the permanent reinstatement wi be a smooth, safe surface. Once Gas Networks Ireand is satisfied that the backfi has setted, permanent reinstatement can be competed and wi be done within 20 working days. Gas Networks Ireand wi ensure your new surface repicates as cose as possibe to existing surfaces, however we cannot guarantee that the materias used for reinstatement, such as tarmacadam, printed concrete or cobbe ock, wi match with the existing surfaces, as the condition of the footpath, driveway or road wi weather over time. Gas Networks Ireand wi make every effort not to damage fower beds and grass areas on your property. In consutation with you we wi choose the best route to avoid damaging pants, fowers and awns. However, you may prefer to remove pants or fowers temporariy in order to avoid damage due to unforeseen circumstances. Grass areas wi aso be treated with due care, however it may not be possibe to avoid tramping on a awn or verge, particuary if the weather is poor. If grass areas are damaged during excavation work, our crew wi endeavour to repair it, incuding reseeding if necessary. Repairs to fower beds and grass areas may be deayed due to seasona factors. 6 Frequenty asked questions Why is my existing gas service suppy pipe being repaced? Gas Networks Ireand is proactive in ensuring that we provide a safe network to a our customers. As such, we are undertaking a programme to reinforce the safety of the domestic gas services in your area. We have agreed to undertake this programme of works with the Commission for Reguation of Utiities (CRU). How much wi this cost? There wi be no charge for repacing your existing gas service pipe. Extra works that you can request are avaiabe but wi be chargeabe. A the detais of these charges can be found on our meter services page of our website How ong wi it take to repace my service pipe instaation? The work wi take approximatey three hours to compete, however this can vary from property to property. Every effort wi be made to ensure that interruption to your gas suppy is kept to a minimum and that the work is competed as quicky as possibe. Wi the gas be turned off during the instaation? Yes, the gas suppy to your premises wi be turned off during the time it takes to renew your existing gas service suppy and to carry out a safety inspection inside your property. Wi you need access to the inside of my home/business? Yes, we wi require access to your property in order to compete the repacement of the service pipes and to test the interna pipework. What is a safety inspection? It is a safety inspection on the interna gas pipe work and natura gas appiances in your premises in compiance with I.S. 813 Annex E. If I need to rearrange the appointment time, is this possibe? You wi be contacted in advance to arrange the appointment time. Yes, it wi be possibe to rearrange the time of your appointment by contacting us on or by contacting the supervisor on site directy, if they have eft a caing card. What form of identification shoud I ook for? Our instaation team wi carry photo ID badges identifying themseves and confirming that they are working on behaf of Gas Networks Ireand.

7 Services not incuded in the gas service renewa programme The foowing work wi not be undertaken as part of the Gas Services Renewa Programme. If a gas appiance and/or the interna gas suppy pipe (inside the premises) are found to be fauty during the safety inspection of the customer s gas instaation, it wi be disconnected in ine with safety procedures. The repair of the appiance and/or pipework is the responsibiity of the property owner. If a property currenty has a gas suppy, but it is not in use, it wi not be renewed or reconnected to the gas main. If gas is required at a ater date, there wi be a charge for a new connection, which must be paid before the work commences. There is no charge for the renewa of your natura gas service pipe. Gas customers and property owners shoud however be aware that there are charges for any requested services outside of the essentia work programme. These are fuy detaied on our website in the Your Meter section under Service and Charges. Gas Networks Ireand has agreed with the Commission for Reguation of Utiities to carry out The Gas Service Renewa Programme. The programme wi be carried out in phases, by geographica area. The Gas Service Renewa Programme wi hep ensure that Gas Networks Ireand continues to provide customers with a safe and consistent service.
