The antenna of the radar sensor emits short radar puses with a duration of approx. 1 ns. These puses are refected by the product and received by the antenna as echoes. The running time of the radar puses from emission to reception is proportiona to the distance and hence to the eve. The determined eve is converted into an appropriate output signa and outputted as measured vaue. Power suppy via the Profibus DP/PA segment couper or VEGALOG 571 EP cards. A two-wire cabe according to Profibus specification serves as carrier of both power and digita data signas for mutipe sensors. The instrument profie of VEGAPULS 67 corresponds to profie specification version 3.0. GSD/EDD The GSD (instrument master fies) and bitmap fies necessary for panning your Profibus-DP-(PA) communication network are avaiabe from the downoad section on the VEGA homepage under "Services - Downoads - VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 11

Product description Packaging Software - Profibus". There you can aso find the appropriate certificates. In apdm environment, an EDD (Eectronic Device Description) is aso required to enabe the fu range of sensor functions (aso avaiabe as a downoad).a CDwith the appropriate fies can be ordered via e-mai under info@de. vega.com or by phone from one of the VEGA agencies under the order number "DRIVER.S". The backight of the indicating and adjustment modue is powered by the sensor. Requirement is a certain height of the suppy votage. The data for power suppy are stated in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". This function is avaiabe for instruments with nationa approvas such as e.g. according to CSA ony at a ater date. The optiona heating requires its own power suppy. You can find detaied information in the suppementary instructions manua "Heating for indicating and adjustment modue". 14 Mounting 4 Mounting 4.1 Genera instructions Instaation position Moisture Seect an instaation position you can easiy reach for mounting and connecting as we as ater retrofitting of an indicating and adjustment modue. The housing can be rotated by 330 without the use of any toos. You can aso insta the indicating and adjustment modue in four different positions (each dispaced by 90 ). Use the recommended cabes (see chapter "Connecting to power suppy") and tighten the cabe gand. You can give your VEGAPULS 67 additiona protection against moisture penetration by eading the connection cabe downward in front of the cabe entry. Rain and condensation water can thus drain off. This appies mainy to mounting outdoors, in areas where moisture is expected (e.g. by ceaning processes) or on cooed or heated vesses. Fig. 2: Measures against moisture penetration Measuring range The reference pane for the measuring range of the sensors is the contact surface on the side of the antenna cover. 14 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Mounting % 0% Fig. 3: Measuring range (operating range) and max. measuring distance 1 fu 2 empty (max. measuring distance) 3 Measuring range 4 Reference pane Information: If the medium reaches the antenna, buidup can form on it and cause fauty measurements ater on. Wetted materias Make sure that the wetted parts of VEGAPULS 67, especiay the sea and process fitting, are suitabe for the existing process conditions such as pressure, temperature etc. as we as the chemica properties of the medium. You can find the specifications in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". Mounting strap 4.2 Mounting preparation VEGAPULS 67 can be mounted in two different ways: with a mounting strap via a compression or adapter fange. The mounting strap enabes easy mounting of VEGAPULS 67 to the vesse wa or sio top. It is suitabe for wa, ceiing or boom mounting. Especiay in open vesses, this is a very easy and effective way to aign the sensor to the buk soid surface. VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 15

Mounting Fig. 4: VEGAPULS 67 with mounting strap The strap is suppied unassembed and must be screwed to the sensor before setup with three hexagon nuts M5x10 and spring washers. Max. torque, see chapter "Technica data". Required toos: Aen wrench size 4. Two ways are possibe for screwing the strap onto the sensor. Depending on the seected version, the sensors can be swiveed as foows in the strap: Singe chamber housing - Ange of incination 180, infinitey variabe - Ange of incination in three steps 0, 90 and 180 Doube chamber housing - Ange of incination 90, infinitey variabe - Ange of incination in two steps 0 and VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Mounting Fig. 5: Adjustment of the ange of incination on the mounting strap Fig. 6: Mounting strap can be rotated when fastened in the midde Compression or adapter fange Direct mounting on a fange DN 80/ANSI 3" is possibe with a compression fange. Mounting on fange DN 100/ANSI 4" and DN 150/ANSI 6" is possibe with an optiona adapter fange. You can find iustrations of this in chapter "Dimensions" in the suppement of this operating instructions manua. VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 17

Mounting Fig. 7: VEGAPULS 67, fange mounting 4.3 Mounting instructions Instaation position Mount VEGAPULS 67 ateast 200 mm (7.874 in) away from the vesse wa. If this distance cannot be maintained, a fase echo storage shoud be carried out during setup. This appies particuary if buidup on the vesse wa is expected. In such case, we recommend repeating the fase echo storage ater on with existing buidup. Socket A corresponding compression fange for DN 80 (ASME 3" or JIS 80) as we as a suitabe adapter fange are avaiabe for mounting VEGAPULS 67. With housing version pastic, Au singe chamber and stainess stee, the compression fange can be connected directy to the housing. A ater mounting is not possibe with the Au doube chamber housing, the mounting type must be determined when ordering. 18 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Mounting To keep fase refections from a vesse socket to a minimum, the socket shoud be as short as possibe. The socket end shoud be rounded. Fig. 8: Recommended socket mounting If the medium has good refective properties, VEGAPULS 67 can aso be mounted on a onger socket piece. Recommended vaues for socket heights are specified in the foowing iustration. You must carry out a fase echo storage afterwards. h d The beow charts specify the max. socket piece ength h depending on the diameter d. VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 19

Mounting Socket diameter d Socket ength h 80 mm 300 mm 100 mm 400 mm 150 mm 500 mm Socket diameter d Socket ength h 3" 11.8 in 4" 15.8 in 6" 19.7 in Tip: In new pants, it is usefu to incine the vesse socket in the direction of emptying. Fase refections from the vesse wa are thus reduced and measurement a the way down to the conica outet is possibe. Fig. 9: Orientation in sios 20 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Mounting Mounting in mutipe channe sio The sio was of mutipe chamber sios are often made of profie was, such as e.g. profie sheetings, to ensure the required stabiity. If the radar sensor is mounted very cose to a heaviy structured vesse wa, substantia fase refections can be caused. Hence the sensor shoud be mounted at a arge distance from the separating wa. The optimum mounting position is on the outer wa of the sio with the sensor oriented towards the outet in the sio center. Fig. 10: Instaation and orientation in mutipe chamber sios VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 21

Mounting Fig. 11: Instaation and orientation in mutipe chamber sios Vesse instaations Sio instaations such as e.g. adders, eve switches, struts, and aso structured vesse was, can cause fase echoes that get superimposed on the usefu echo. The mounting ocation of the radar sensor shoud be a pace where no instaations cross the microwave signas. Make sure when panning your measurement oop that the radar signas have a "cear view" to the product. In case of existing vesse instaations, a fase echo storage shoud be carried out during setup. If arge vesse instaations such as struts or supports cause fase echoes, these can be attenuated through suppementary measures. Sma, incined sheet meta baffes above the instaations scatter the radar signas and prevent direct interfering refections. Fig. 12: Cover smooth profies with defectors 22 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Mounting Air purging An air purging is usefu for avoiding buidup, particuary when there is strong condensation. Since VEGAPULS 67 has no direct purging air connection, a separate purging air connection must be provided in the mounting socket. Due to the incination of this connection towards the top, the ceaning of the antenna cover is particuary effective. Fig. 13: Purging air connection Materia heaps Large materia heaps are best measured with severa instruments, which can be mounted on e.g. traverse cranes. For this type of appication it is advantageous to orient the sensor perpendicuar to the buk soid surface. The sensors cannot infuence each other. Information: Keep in mind that for these appications, the sensors are designed for reativey sow eve changes. If the sensor is used on a movabe boom, the max. measuring rate must be observed (see chapter "Technica data"). Fig. 14: Radar sensors on traverse crane VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 23

Connecting to power suppy 5 Connecting to power suppy 5.1 Preparing the connection Note safety instructions Take note of safety instructions for Ex appications Seect power suppy Seecting connection cabe Cabe gand ½ NPT Aways keep in mind the foowing safety instructions: Connect ony in the compete absence of ine votage If overvotage surges are expected, overvotage arresters shoud be instaed according to Profibus specification In hazardous areas you shoud take note of the appropriate reguations, conformity and type approva certificates of the sensors and power suppy units. Power is suppied via a Profibus DP/PA segment couper or a VEGALOG 571 EP input card. The power suppy range can differ depending on the instrument version. The data for power suppy are stated in chapter "Technica data" in the "Suppement". VEGAPULS 67 is connected with screened cabe according to the Profibus specification. Power suppy and digita bus signa are carried over the same two-wire connection cabe. An outer cabe diameter of 5 9 mm ensures the sea effect of the cabe entry. Pease make sure that your instaation is carried out according to the Profibus specification. In particuar, make sure that the termination of the bus is done with appropriate terminating resistors. On VEGAPULS 67 with cabe gand ½ NPT and pastic housing, a meta ½" threaded insert is mouded in the pastic housing. Caution: No grease shoud be used when screwing the NPT cabe gand or stee tube into the threaded insert. Standard grease can contain additives that corrode the connection between threaded insert and housing. This woud infuence the stabiity of the connection and the tightness of the housing. Cabe screening and grounding In systems with potentia equaisation, connect the cabe screen directy to ground potentia at the power suppy unit, in the connection box and at the sensor. The screen in the sensor 24 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Connecting to power suppy must be connected directy to the interna ground termina. The ground termina outside on the housing must be connected to the potentia equaisation (ow impedance). In systems without potentia equaisation, connect the cabe screen directy to ground potentia at the power suppy unit and at the sensor. In the connection box or T-distributor, the screen of the short stub to the sensor must not be connected to ground potentia or to another cabe screen. The cabe screens to the power suppy unit and to the next distributor must be connected to each other and aso connected to ground potentia via a ceramic capacitor (e.g. 1 nf, 1500 V). The ow frequency potentia equaisation currents are thus suppressed, but the protective effect against high frequency interference signas remains. The tota capacitance of the cabe and of a capacitors must not exceed 10 nf in Ex appications. Seect connection cabe for Ex appications Take note of the corresponding instaation reguations for Ex appications. In particuar, make sure that no potentia equaisation currents fow over the cabe screen. In case of grounding on both sides this can be achieved by the use of a capacitor or a separate potentia equaisation. 5.2 Connection steps - Instrument housing Proceed as foows: 1 Unscrew the housing cover 2 If an indicating and adjustment modue is instaed, remove it by turning it sighty to the eft. 3 Loosen compression nut of the cabe entry 4 Remove approx. 10 cm (4 in) of the cabe mante, strip approx. 1 cm (0.4 in) insuation from the ends of the individua wires 5 Insert the cabe into the sensor through the cabe entry 6 Lift the opening evers of the terminas with a screwdriver (see foowing iustration) 7 Insert the wire ends into the open terminas according to the wiring pan VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 25

If these vaues are not known, an adjustment with the distance vaues, e.g. 10 % and 90 % is aso possibe. Starting point for these distance specifications is aways the sea surface of the thread or fange. With these settings, the rea eve is cacuated. Furthermore the operating range of the sensor is imited from maximum to the required range. The rea product eve during this adjustment is not important, because the min./max. adjustment is aways carried out without changing the product eve. These settings can be made ahead of time without the instrument having to be instaed. In the main menu item "Basic adjustment", the individua submenu items shoud be seected one after the other and provided with the correct parameter vaues. Start your parameter adjustment with the foowing menu items of the basic adjustment: Proceed as foows: 1 Move from the measured vaue dispay to the main menu by pushing [OK]. Keep in mind that the max. eve must ie beow the dead band. 3 Save the settings with [OK] and move to "Medium seection" with [->]. Each product has different refective properties. In soids, these are dust generation, materia cones and additiona echoes caused by the vesse wa. Due to the medium seection, the sensor is adapted in an optimum way to the product and the accuracy, particuary for products with bad refective properties, is increased consideraby. Medium Soid With soids, you can aso choose between "Powder/Dust", "Granuar/Peets" or "Baast/Pebbes". VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 35

Set up with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM In iquids, fuctuating surfaces and foam generation are further interfering factors. To adapt the sensor to the different conditions, a genera seection is made in this menu item, i.e. "Soid" or "Liquid". Enter the requested parameter via the appropriate keys, save your settings and jump to the next menu item with the [->] key. Vesse form Apart from the medium, the vesse shape can aso infuence the measurement. To adapt the sensor to these measuring conditions, this menu item offers different options depending on whether iquid or soid is seected. With "Soid" these are "Sio" or "Bunker", with "Liquid", "Storage tank", "Stiing tube", "Open vesse" or "Stirred vesse". Vesse form Sio Enter the requested parameter via the appropriate keys, save your settings and jump to the next menu item with the [->] key. Linearisation curve A inearization is necessary for a vesses in which the vesse voume does not increase ineary with the eve - e.g. with a cyindrica or spherica tank - and the indication or output of the voume is required. Corresponding inearization curves are preprogrammed for these vesses. They represent the correation between the eve percentage and vesse voume. By activating the appropriate curve, the voume percentage of the vesse is dispayed correcty. If the voume shoud not be dispayed in percent but e.g. in or kg, a scaing can be aso set in the menu item "Dispay". Linearisation curve inear Gating out of fase signas Enter the requested parameter via the appropriate keys, save your settings and jump to the next menu item with the [->] key. Fase refections by vesse instaation can impair the measurement as described in chapter "Mounting". A fase echo storage detects and marks these fase echoes, so that they are no onger taken into account for the eve measure- 36 VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA

Set up with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM ment. To detect these interfering refections over the compete measuring range, the gating out of fase echoes shoud be carried out with empty vesse. Information: However, the measuring signas are not damped by the product in competey empty, cosed meta vesses. Due to this, considerabe mutipe refections can be caused by which the noise eve can increase. In such vesses, it is recommended to carry out the gating out of fase echoes with part fiing. Gating out of fase signas Change now? Proceed as foows: 1 Move from the measured vaue dispay to the main menu by pushing [OK]. 2 Seect the menu item "Service" with [->] and confirm with [OK]. Now the menu item "Fase signa suppression" is dispayed. 3 Confirm "Fase signa suppression - Change now" with [OK] and seect in the beow menu "Create new". Enter the actua distance from the sensor to the product surface. A fase signas in this area are detected by the sensor and saved after confirming with [OK]. Note: Check the distance to the product surface, because if an incorrect (too arge) vaue is entered, the existing eve wi be saved as fase signa. The fiing eve woud then no onger be detectabe in this area. Extended setting/quick eve change The menu item "Extended setting" offers the possibiity to optimise VEGAPULS 67 for appications with quick eve changes. For this purpose seect the function "Quick eve change >1 m/min.". Extended setting None VEGAPULS 67 - Profibus PA 37

Set up with the indicating and adjustment modue PLICSCOM Note: Since with the function "Quick eve change >1 m/min." the generation of an averafy vaue of the signa processing is consideraby reduced, fase refections by agitators or vesse instaations can cause measured vaue fuctuations. A fase echo memory is thus recommended.
