Appications The buit-in sensors of this watch measure direction, barometric pressure, temperature and atitude. Measured vaues are then shown on the dispay. Such features make this watch usefu when hiking, mountain cimbing, or when engaging in other such outdoor activities. Warning! The measurement functions buit into this watch are not intended for taking measurements that require professiona or industria precision. Vaues produced by this watch shoud be considered as reasonabe representations ony. The Moon phase indicator and tide graph data that appear on the dispay of this watch are not intended for navigation purposes. Aways use proper instruments and resources to obtain data for navigation purposes. This watch is not an instrument for cacuating ow tide and high tide times. The tide graph of this watch is intended to provide a reasonabe approximation of tida movements ony. When engaging in mountain cimbing or other activities in which osing your way can create a dangerous or ife-threatening situation, aways be sure to use a second compass to confirm direction readings. ote that CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. assumes no responsibiity for any damage or oss suffered by you or any third party arising through the use of this product or its mafunction. Keep the watch exposed to bright ight The eectricity generated by the soar ce of the watch is stored by a buit-in battery. Leaving or Bright ight using the watch where it is not exposed to ight causes the battery to run down. Make sure the watch is exposed to ight as much as possibe. When you are not wearing the watch on your Soar ce wrist, position the face so it is pointed at a source of bright ight. You shoud try to keep the watch outside of your seeve as much as possibe. Charging is reduced significanty if the face is covered ony partiay. The watch continues to operate, even when it is not exposed to ight. Leaving the watch in the dark can cause the battery to run down, which wi resut in some watch functions being disabed. If the battery goes dead, you wi have to re-configure watch settings after recharging. To ensure norma watch operation, be sure to keep it exposed to ight as much as possibe. About This Manua (Light) Modue 3135 Depending on the mode of your watch, dispay text appears either as dark figures on a ight background (Modue 3135), or ight figures on a dark background (Modue 3206). A sampe dispays in this manua are shown using dark figures on a ight background. Button operations are indicated using the etters shown in the iustration. Each section of this manua provides you with the information you need to perform operations in each mode. Further detais and technica information can be found in the Reference section. Modue 3206 Genera Guide The iustration beow shows which buttons you need to press to navigate between modes. In any mode, press L to iuminate the dispay. Timekeeping Mode Stopwatch Countdown Tide/Moon Data Mode Timer Mode Mode Press D. You can use buttons A, B, and C to enter a sensor mode directy from the Timekeeping Mode or from another sensor mode. To enter a sensor mode from the Tide/Moon Data, Countdown Timer, Stopwatch, Word Time, Aarm, or Data Reca Mode, first enter the Timekeeping Mode and then press the appicabe button. Press C. 2 SE E Timekeeping Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current time and date. In the Timekeeping Mode, an indicator moves aong the ring around the dispay as seconds advance. The tide graph shows tida movements for the current date in accordance with the current time as kept in the Timekeeping Mode. The Moon phase indicator shows the current Moon phase in accordance with the current date as kept in the Timekeeping Mode. In the Timekeeping Mode, you can press E to togge the dispay contents as shown beow. Day of the Week Screen Day of week PM indicator Press E. Barometric pressure graph Barometric Pressure Graph Screen Hour : Hour : Minute Minute Second Second Month Day Month Day Read This Before You Set the Time and Date! This watch is preset with a number of city codes, each of which represents the time zone where that city is ocated. When setting the time, it is important that you first seect the correct city code for your Home City (the city where you normay use the watch). If your ocation is not incuded in the preset city codes, seect the preset city code that is in the same time zone as your ocation. ote that a of the times for the Word Time Mode city codes are dispayed in accordance with the time and date settings you configure in the Timekeeping Mode. To set the time and date 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down E unti the city code starts to fash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Use A and C to seect the city code you want. Make sure you seect your Home City code before changing any other setting. For fu information on city codes, see the City Code Tabe. 3. Press D to move the fashing in the sequence shown beow to seect the other settings. City Code Barometric Pressure Unit Screen DST Atitude Unit 12/24-Hour Format Temperature Unit To do this: Change the city code Togge between Dayight Saving Time ( ) and Standard Time ( ). Togge between 12-hour (12H) and 24-hour (24H) timekeeping. Second Hour Minute Power Saving Day Do this: Use A (east) and C(west). Press A. Press A. Year Month The foowing steps expain how to configure timekeeping settings ony. 4. When the timekeeping setting you want to change is fashing, use A and/ or C to change it as described beow. Reset the seconds to 00 Change the hour or minute Change the year Change the month or day Press A. Use A (+) and C ( ). 5. Press E to exit the setting screen. ote You aso need to enter the Timekeeping Mode in order to configure the foowing settings. Power saving on/off ( To turn Power Saving on and off ) Temperature, barometric pressure, and atitude units ( To seect the temperature, barometric pressure, and atitude units ) Dayight Saving Time (DST) Dayight Saving Time (summer time) advances the time setting by one hour from Standard Time. Remember that not a countries or even oca areas use Dayight Saving Time. To change the Dayight Saving Time (summer time) setting 1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hod down E unti DST indicator the city code starts to fash, which indicates the setting screen. 2. Press D and the DST setting screen appears. 3. Use A to cyce through the DST settings in the sequence shown beow. Digita Compass DST off ( ) DST on ( ) 4. When the setting you want is seected, press E to exit the setting screen. The DST indicator appears to indicate that Dayight Saving Time is turned on. A buit-in bearing sensor detects magnetic north and indicates one of 16 directions on the dispay. Direction readings are performed in the Digita Compass Mode. You can caibrate the bearing sensor if you suspect the direction reading is incorrect. See Using the Digita Compass Whie Mountain Cimbing or Hiking for some rea-ife exampes of how to use this feature. To enter and exit the Digita Compass Mode 12 o cock position 1. Whie in the Timekeeping Mode or in any of Two seconds Current time the other sensor modes, press C to enter the Digita Compass Mode. At this time, the watch wi start a Digita Compass operation. After about two seconds, etters appear on the dispay to indicate the direction that the 12 o cock position of the watch is pointing. The direction reading on the dispay is updated each second for up to 20 seconds, after which measurement stops automaticay. 2. Press D to return to the Timekeeping Mode. To take a direction reading orth pointer 1. Whie the watch is in the Digita Compass 12 o cock position Mode, pace it on a fat surface, or if you are Direction wearing the watch, make sure that your wrist indicator is horizonta (in reation to the horizon). 2. Point the 12 o cock position of the watch in the direction you want to measure. 3. Press C to start a Digita Compass measurement operation. After about two seconds, the direction that the 12 o cock position of the watch is pointing appears on the dispay. Aso, four pointers appear to indicate magnetic Ange vaue (in degrees) W north, south, east, and west After the first reading is obtained, the watch continues to take direction readings automaticay each second, for up to 20 seconds. SSW SW WSW W S 180 WW SSE W ESE E E EE 90 Whie the watch is taking compass readings, it dispays a direction ange, a direction indicator, and four direction pointers, a of which change dynamicay when the watch is moved. The direction ange, direction indicator and direction pointers a disappear from the dispay after the compass reading operation is compete. Use the direction indicators imprinted on the beze to record the indicated direction. For detais, see Using the Digita Compass Whie Mountain Cimbing or Hiking. ote ote that taking a measurement whie the watch is not horizonta (in reation to the horizon) can resut in arge measurement error. The margin of error for the ange vaue and the direction indicator is ±11 degrees. If the indicated direction is northwest (W) and 315 degrees, for exampe, the actua direction can be anywhere from 304 to 326 degrees. 2

3 Any ongoing direction measurement operation is paused temporariy whie the watch is performing an aert operation (daiy aarm, Houry Time Signa, countdown timer aarm) or whie iumination is turned on (by pressing L). The measurement operation resumes for its remaining duration after the operation that caused it to pause is finished. The foowing tabe shows the meanings of each of the direction abbreviations that appear on the dispay. Digita Compass Precautions This watch features a buit-in magnetic bearing sensor that detects terrestria magnetism. This means that north indicated by this watch is magnetic north, which is somewhat different from true poar north. The magnetic north poe is ocated in northern Canada, whie the magnetic south poe is in southern Austraia. ote that the difference between magnetic north and true north as measured with a magnetic compasses tends to be greater as one gets coser to either of the magnetic poes. You aso shoud remember that some maps indicate true north (instead of magnetic north), and so you shoud make aowances when using such maps with this watch. Because of this, you shoud avoid taking direction readings whie in the vicinity of the foowing types of objects: permanent magnets (magnetic neckaces, etc.), concentrations of meta (meta doors, ockers, etc.), high tension wires, aeria wires, househod appiances (TVs, persona computers, washing machines, freezers, etc.) Accurate direction readings are impossibe whie in a train, boat, air pane, etc. Accurate readings aso are impossibe indoors, especiay inside ferroconcrete structures. This is because the meta framework of such structures picks up magnetism from appiances, etc. Storage The precision of the bearing sensor may deteriorate if the watch becomes magnetized. Because of this, you shoud be sure to store the watch away from magnets or any other sources of strong magnetism, incuding: permanent magnets (magnetic neckaces, etc.) and househod appiances (TVs, persona computers, washing machines, freezers, etc.) Whenever you suspect that the watch may have become magnetized, perform one of the caibration procedures under Caibrating the Bearing Sensor. Caibrating the Bearing Sensor You shoud caibrate the bearing sensor whenever you fee that the direction readings being produced by the watch are off. There are three different caibration methods avaiabe: magnetic decination correction, bidirectiona caibration, and northery caibration. Magnetic Decination Correction With magnetic decination correction, you input a magnetic decination ange (difference between magnetic north and true north), which aows the watch to indicate true north. You can perform this procedure when the magnetic decination ange is indicated on the map you are using. ote that you can input the decination ange in degree units ony, so you may need to round off the vaue specified on the map. If your map indicates the decination ange as 7.4, you shoud input 7. In the case of 7.6 input 8, for 7.5 you can input 7 or 8. Bidirectiona Caibration and orthery Caibration Bidirectiona caibration and northery caibration caibrate the accuracy of the direction sensor in reation to magnetic north. Use bidirectiona caibration when you want to take readings within an area exposed to magnetic force. This type of caibration shoud be used if the watch becomes magnetized for any reason. With northery caibration, you teach the watch which way is north (which you have to determine with another compass or some other means). Important! If you want to perform both bidirectiona and northery caibration, be sure to perform bidirectiona caibration first, and then perform northery caibration. This is necessary because bidirectiona caibration cances any existing northery caibration setting. The more correcty you perform bidirectiona caibration, the better the accuracy of the bearing sensor readouts. You shoud perform bidirectiona caibration whenever you change environments where you use the bearing sensor, and whenever you fee that the bearing sensor is producing incorrect readings. To perform magnetic decination correction Magnetic decination ange direction Magnetic decination ange vaue 1. In the Digita Compass Mode, hod down E for about two seconds unti the magnetic decination ange and magnetic decination ange direction vaues start to fash on the dispay. This is the setting screen. 2. Use A (+) and C ( ) to change the magnetic decination ange and magnetic decination ange direction settings. You can seect a vaue within the range of W 90 to E 90 with these settings. The foowing expains magnetic decination ange direction settings. OFF: o magnetic decination correction performed. The magnetic decination ange with this setting is 0. E: When magnetic north is to the east (east decination) W: When magnetic north is to the west (west decination) You can turn off (OFF) magnetic decination correction (which effectivey makes the magnetic decination ange: 0 ) by pressing A and C at the same time. The iustration above, for exampe, shows the vaue you shoud input and the direction setting you shoud seect when the map shows a magnetic decination of 1 West. 3. When the setting is the way you want, press E to exit the setting screen. Precautions about bidirectiona caibration You can use any two opposing directions for bidirectiona caibration. You must, however, make sure that they are 180 degrees opposite each other. Remember that if you perform the procedure incorrecty, you wi get wrong bearing sensor readings. Make sure that you do not move the watch whie caibration of either direction is in progress. You shoud perform bidirectiona caibration in an environment that is the same as that where you pan to be taking direction readings. If you pan to take direction readings in an open fied, for exampe, caibrate in an open fied. To perform bidirectiona caibration 1. In the Digita Compass Mode, hod down E for about two seconds unti the magnetic decination ange and magnetic decination ange direction vaues start to fash on the dispay. This is the setting screen. 2. Press D to dispay the bidirectiona caibration screen. At this time, the north pointer fashes at the 12 o cock position to indicate that the watch is ready to caibrate the first direction. 3. Pace the watch on a eve surface facing any direction you want, and press C to caibrate the first direction. xxx is shown on the dispay whie caibration is being performed. When caibration is successfu, the dispay wi show OK and x2x, and the north pointer fashes at the 6 o cock position. This means that the watch is ready for caibration of the second direction. 4. Rotate the watch 180 degrees. 5. Press C again to caibrate the second direction. xxx is shown on the dispay whie caibration is being performed. When caibration is successfu, the dispay wi show OK and the Digita Compass Mode (showing the ange vaue) screen. If xxx appears and then changes to ERR (error) on the caibration screen, it means that there is something wrong with the sensor. When ERR disappears after about one second, try performing the caibration again. If ERR keeps appearing, contact your origina deaer or nearest authorized CASIO distributor to have the watch checked. To perform northery caibration 1. In the Digita Compass Mode, hod down E for about two seconds unti the magnetic decination ange and magnetic decination ange direction vaues start to fash on the dispay. This is the setting screen. 2. Press D twice to dispay the northery caibration screen. At this time, -- (north) appears on the dispay. 3. Pace the watch on a eve surface, and position it so that its 12 o cock position points north (as measured with another compass). 4. Press C to start the caibration operation. --- is shown on the dispay whie caibration is being performed. When caibration is successfu, the dispay wi show OK and the Digita Compass Mode (with 0 shown as the ange vaue). If --- appears and then changes to ERR (error) on the caibration screen, it means that there is something wrong with the sensor. When ERR disappears after about one second, try performing the caibration again. If ERR keeps appearing, contact your origina deaer or nearest authorized CASIO distributor to have the watch checked. 3

4 Using the Digita Compass Whie Mountain Cimbing or Hiking This section describes three rea-ife situations where you coud use the watch s buit-in digita compass. To set a map and find your current ocation Having an idea of your current ocation is important when mountain cimbing or hiking. To do this, you need to set the map, which means to aign the map so the directions indicated on it are aigned with the actua directions of your ocation. Basicay what you are doing is aigning north on the map with north as indicated by the watch. To find the bearing to an objective To determine the direction ange to an objective on a map and head in that direction To set a map and find your current ocation orth indicated on the map Current ocation orth indicated by north pointer 1. With the watch on your wrist, position it so the face is horizonta. 2. In the Timekeeping, Digita Compass, Barometer/Thermometer, or Atimeter Mode, press C to take a compass reading. The reading wi appear on the dispay after about two seconds. 3. Rotate the map without moving the watch so the northery direction indicated on the map matches north as indicated by the watch. If the watch is configured to indicate magnetic north, aign the map s magnetic north with the watch indication. If the watch has been configured with a decination to correct to true north, aign the map s true north with the watch indication. This wi position the map in accordance with your current ocation. 4. Determine your ocation as you check the geographic contours around you. To find the bearing to an objective 1. Take a compass reading and then set the map so its northery indication is aigned with north Objective Current ocation 12 o cock position as indicated by the watch, and determine your current ocation. Set the map so the direction you want to trave on the map is pointed straight in front of you. 3. With the watch on your wrist, position it so the face is horizonta. 4. In the Timekeeping, Digita Compass, Barometer/Thermometer, or Atimeter Mode, press C to take a compass reading. The reading wi appear on the dispay after about two seconds. 5. Sti hoding the map in front of you, turn your body unti north as indicated by the watch and the northery direction on the map are aigned. This wi position the map reative to your current ocation, so the bearing to your objective is straight ahead of you. To determine the direction ange to an objective on a map and head in that direction ote Objective Current ocation 12 o cock position The foowing procedure is possibe ony with a watch that has a rotary beze. 1. Take a compass reading and then set the map so its northery indication is aigned with north as indicated by the watch, and determine your current ocation. See To set a map and find your current ocation for information about how to perform the above step. 2. As shown in the iustration to the eft, change your position so you (and the 12 o cock position of the watch) are pointed in the direction of objective, whie keeping the map aigned with the readings being produced by the watch. If you find it difficut to perform the above step whie keeping everything aigned, first move into the correct position (12 o cock position of the watch pointed at the objective) without worrying about the orientation of the map. ext, perform step 1 again to set the map. 12 o cock position orth pointer Direction ange of current reading 3. In the Timekeeping, Digita Compass, Barometer/Thermometer, or Atimeter Mode, press C to take a compass reading. The compass reading information (ange vaue, direction indicator, and four pointers based on the 12 o cock position of the watch) wi appear on the dispay after about two seconds. The compass reading information wi remain on the dispay for ony about 20 seconds after you press C. After that it wi disappear. If you want to re-dispay the compass reading information, press C again to take another reading. 4. Rotate the beze so the (orth) indicator on the beze is aigned with the north indicator produced by the reading in step To advance to your objective proceed in the direction that 12 o cock is pointing. ote When mountain cimbing or hiking, conditions or geographic contours may make it impossibe for you to advance in a straight ine. If this happens, return to step 1 and save a new direction to the objective. Barometer/Thermometer This watch uses a pressure sensor to measure air pressure (barometric pressure) and a temperature sensor to measure temperature. You can caibrate the pressure sensor and the temperature sensor if you suspect that readings are incorrect. To take barometric pressure and temperature readings Barometric pressure graph Temperature Pressure differentia pointer Barometric pressure Pressing B in the Timekeeping Mode or in any of other sensor modes enters the Barometer/ Thermometer Mode and starts barometric pressure and temperature measurements automaticay. It can take up to four or five seconds for the barometric pressure reading to appear after you enter the Barometer/Thermometer Mode. Barometric pressure is dispayed in units of 1hPa (or 0.05 inhg). The dispayed barometric pressure vaue changes to xxxx hpa (or inhg) if a measured barometric pressure fas outside the range of 260 hpa to 1100 hpa (7.65 inhg to inhg). The barometric pressure vaue wi reappear as soon as the measured barometric pressure is within the aowabe range. Temperature is dispayed in units of 0.1 C (or 0.2 F). The dispayed temperature vaue changes to xxx.x C (or F) if a measured temperature fas outside the range of 10.0 C to 60.0 C (14.0 F to F). The temperature vaue wi reappear as soon as the measured temperature is within the aowabe range. In some areas, barometric pressure is expressed in miibars (mb) instead of hectopascas (hpa). It reay makes no difference, because 1hPa = 1mb. You can seect either hectopascas (hpa) or incheshg (inhg) as the dispay unit for the measured barometric pressure, and Cesius ( C) or Fahrenheit ( F) as the dispay unit for the measured temperature vaue. Barometric Pressure Graph Barometric pressure indicates changes in the atmosphere. By monitoring these changes you can predict the weather with reasonabe accuracy. This watch takes barometric pressure measurements automaticay every two hours (at the top of each even-numbered hour), regardess of its current mode. Measurement resuts are used to produce barometric pressure graph and barometric pressure differentia pointer readings. The barometric pressure graph shows readings of previous measurements for up to 20 hours. The horizonta axis of the graph represents time, with each dot standing for two hours. The rightmost dot represents the most recent reading. The vertica axis of the graph represents barometric pressure, with each dot standing for the reative difference between its reading and that of the dots next to it. Each dot represents 1hPa. The foowing shows how to interpret the data that appears on the barometric pressure graph. A rising graph generay means improving weather. A faing graph generay means deteriorating weather. 4

5 ote that if there are sudden changes in barometric pressure or temperature, the graph ine of past measurements may run off the top or bottom of the dispay. The entire graph wi become visibe once barometric conditions stabiize. The foowing conditions cause the barometric pressure measurement to be skipped, with the corresponding point on the barometric pressure graph being eft bank. ot visibe on the dispay. Barometric reading that is out of range (260 hpa/mb to 1,100 hpa/mb or 7.65 inhg to inhg) Sensor mafunction Barometric Pressure Differentia Pointer This pointer indicates the reative difference between the most recent barometric pressure reading indicated on the barometric pressure graph, and the current barometric pressure vaue dispayed in the Barometer/ Thermometer Mode. Pressure differentia is indicated in the range of ±5 hpa, in 1-hPa units. The barometric pressure differentia pointer is not dispayed when the dispayed current barometric vaue is outside of the aowabe measurement range (260 to 1,100 hpa). Barometric pressure is cacuated and dispayed using hpa as the standard. The barometric pressure differentia aso can be read in inhg units as shown in the iustration. Barometric pressure differentia Pressure differentia exampes in the iustration are indicated in 3 hpa/0.1 inhg steps. inhg vaues hpa vaues Current pressure greater than most recent measured pressure Current pressure ess than most recent measured pressure About Barometric and Temperature Measurements Barometric pressure and temperature measurement operations are performed as soon as you enter the Barometer/Thermometer Mode. After that, barometric pressure and temperature measurements are taken every five seconds. You aso can perform a barometric pressure and temperature measurement at any time by pressing B in the Barometer/Thermometer Mode. Atimeter The watch s atimeter uses a pressure sensor to detect current air pressure, which is then used to estimate the current atitude based on ISA (Internationa Standard Atmosphere) preset vaues. You aso can specify a reference atitude, which the watch wi use to cacuate your current atitude based on the vaue you specify. Atimeter functions aso incude storage of measurement data in memory. Important! This watch estimates atitude based on air pressure. This means that atitude readings for the same ocation may vary if air pressure changes. The semiconductor pressure sensor used by the watch for atitude measurements aso is affected by temperature. When taking atitude measurements, make sure the watch is not subjected to temperature changes. To avoid the effect of sudden temperature changes during measurement, keep the watch on your wrist in direct contact with your skin. Do not rey upon this watch for atitude measurements or perform button operations whie sky diving, hang giding, or paragiding, whie riding a gyrocopter, gider, or any other aircraft, or whie engaging in any other activity where there is the chance of sudden atitude changes. Do not use this watch for measuring atitude in appications that demand professiona or industria eve precision. Remember that the air inside of a commercia aircraft is pressurized. Because of this, the readings produced by this watch wi not match the atitude readings announced or indicated the fight crew. How the Atimeter Measures Atitude The atimeter can measure atitude based on its own preset vaues, or a reference atitude specified by you. When you measure atitude based on preset vaues Data produced by the watch s barometric pressure sensor is converted to approximate atitude based on ISA (Internationa Standard Atmosphere) conversion vaues stored in watch memory. When you measure atitude using a reference atitude specified by you After you specify a reference atitude, the watch uses that vaue to convert the current measured barometric pressure vaue to atitude. When mountain cimbing, you can set the reference vaue in accordance with a marker B aong the way or atitude information from a map. Dispaying Your Current Atitude You can use the procedure described in this section to dispay your current atitude. If you eave the watch in the Atimeter Mode, it wi update the dispayed atitude vaue reguary, and indicate reading-to-reading changes in the atitude graph at the top of the dispay. Important! The procedure in this section simpy dispays vaues indicating your current atitude, without storing them in watch memory. For information about recording atitude readings in watch memory, see Saving Atitude Data. To dispay your current atitude Current atitude Atitude graph Current time 1. Press A in the Timekeeping Mode or in any of the other sensor modes to enter the Atimeter Mode. The watch wi start atitude measurement automaticay, and dispay the resut. It can take up to four or five seconds for the atitude reading to appear after you enter the Atimeter Mode. 2. Leave the watch in the Atimeter Mode if you want the dispayed atitude vaue and the atitude graph contents to be updated at reguar intervas. Readings are taken at five-second intervas for the first three minutes after you enter the Atimeter Mode. After that, readings are taken at twominute intervas. If you want to restart the atitude measurement operation at any point, press A. 3. To stop the atitude measurement operation, press D to exit the Atimeter Mode. otes ormay, dispayed atitude vaues are based on the watch s preset conversion vaues. You aso can specify a reference atitude, if you want. See Specifying a Reference Atitude. Atitude is dispayed in units of 5 meters (20 feet). The measurement range for atitude is 700 to 10,000 meters ( 2,300 to 32,800 feet). The measured atitude may be a negative vaue in cases where there is a reference atitude vaue set or because of certain atmospheric conditions. The dispayed atitude vaue changes to xxxx meters (or feet) if a measured atitude fas outside the measurement range. The atitude vaue wi be dispayed again as soon as the measured atitude is within the aowabe range. You can change the measurement unit for dispayed atitude vaues to either meters (m) or feet (ft). See To seect the temperature, barometric pressure, and atitude units. Saving Atitude Data The watch automaticay keeps track of the high atitude achieved to date. You aso can save atitude readings with the touch of a button. You can reca and view atitude data using the Data Reca Mode. For detais, see Recaing Atitude Data. Automatic High Atitude Record Whenever an atitude measurement in the Atimeter Mode is greater than the currenty stored high atitude vaue, the watch wi repace the od vaue with the new measurement automaticay, aong with the reading date and time. This feature is aways enabed and cannot be turned off. If the current reading is the same as the existing high atitude vaue, the oder vaue wi be retained. Saving an Atitude Reading Perform the foowing procedure whenever you want to save an atitude reading. To save an atitude reading 1. Press A to enter the Atimeter Mode. 2. Hod down A unti REC fashes on the dispay. At this time the watch wi beep and the current atitude reading vaue wi be saved aong with the reading date (month - day) and time. 3. REC wi stop fashing and the watch wi return to the Atimeter Mode automaticay after data save is compete. Memory can store up to 24 atitude records. Storing a new reading whie there are aready 24 in memory wi deete the odest record currenty in memory to make room for the new reading. 5

6 Specifying a Reference Atitude After you specify a reference atitude, the watch adjusts its air-pressure-toatitude conversion cacuation accordingy. The atitude measurements produced by this watch are subject to error caused by changes in air pressure. Because of this, we recommend that you update the reference atitude whenever one is avaiabe during your cimb. To set a reference atitude 1. In the Atimeter Mode, hod down E for about two seconds unti either OFF or the current reference atitude vaue starts to fash. This is the setting screen. 2. Press A (+) or C ( ) to change the current reference atitude vaue by 5 meters (or 20 feet). You can set the reference atitude within the range of 10,000 to 10,000 meters ( 32,800 to 32,800 feet). Pressing A and C at the same time returns to OFF (no reference atitude), so the watch performs air pressure to atitude conversions based on preset data ony. 3. Press E to exit the setting screen. Atitude graph The atitude graph shows Atimeter Mode measurement resuts. Atitude The vertica axis of the graph represents atitude, and each dot stands for 10 meters (40 Time feet). The horizonta axis represents time, and the fashing dot in the rightmost coumn indicates the atest measurement resut. For the first three minutes, each dot represents five seconds. After that, each dot represents two minutes. An out of range measurement resut or a measurement error wi cause the coumn of dots for that measurement to be bank (skipped). Recaing Atitude Data In the Data Reca Mode, you can reca and view atitude reading records you stored in the Atimeter Mode, as we as the high atitude record. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Data Reca Mode. Data Screens The foowing expains the contents of each of the screens that appear in the Data Reca Mode. ote Whie the atitude record or high atitude screen is dispayed, the bottom part of the dispay aternates between the measurement date (month and day) and measurement time, at 1-second intervas. Atitude record indicator Atitude Aternates at 1-second intervas. Measurement time (Hour : Minute) Measurement date (Month Day) To view atitude reading records and the high atitude record 1. Enter the Data Reca Mode. After about one second a record with MAX on the top wi appear. This is the high atitude record. 2. Use A (+) and C ( ) to scro through the other atitude reading records. To deete a atitude data currenty in memory 1. In the Data Reca Mode, hod down E unti CLR fashes on the dispay and the watch beeps twice. Reeasing E at any time whie CLR is fashing on the dispay wi cance the deete operation. 2. Keep E depressed for two seconds. The watch wi beep to indicate that a of the atitude data stored in watch memory (incuding readings you stored and the high atitude vaue) is deeted. Tide/Moon Data In the Tide/Moon Data Mode, you can see the current tide and the current date s Moon phase for your Home City. You can specify a date and view tide and Moon data for that date. See Moon Phase Indicator for information about the Moon phase indicator and Tide Graph for information about the tide graph. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Tide/Moon Data Mode. Tide Data The Tide Graph that appears first when you enter the Tide/Moon Data Mode shows the data at 6:00 a.m. for your currenty seected Home City on the current date, according to the Timekeeping Mode. From there you can specify another date or time. If the tide data is not correct, check your Timekeeping Mode settings and correct them if necessary. If you fee that the information shown by the Tide Graph is different from actua tide conditions, you need to adjust the high tide time. See Adjusting the High Tide Time for more information. Moon Data The Moon phase and Moon age information that appears first when you enter the Tide/Moon Data Mode shows the data at noon for your currenty seected Home City on the current date, according to the Timekeeping Mode. After that you can specify another date to view data. If the Moon data is not correct, check your Timekeeping Mode settings and correct them if necessary. If the Moon phase indicator shows a phase that is a mirror image of the actua moon phase in your area, you can use the procedure under Reversing the Dispayed Moon Phase to change it. To view Moon Data for a particuar date, or Tide Data for a particuar date and time Moon phase Current tide range Moon age Current tide eve 1. In the Tide/Moon Data Mode, use A (+) and C ( ) to seect the date you want. After you seect a date, the watch starts to cacuate Moon and tide data for the date you seected. The cacuation operation takes about 10 seconds, and is indicated by movement in the Moon Phase indicator and the Tide Graph on the dispay. You can use A and C to change to another date whie a cacuation operation is in progress. After cacuation is compete, the Moon information (Moon age and phase) and tide information (current tide eve and tide range) wi be dispayed for the date you seected. 2. Whie the Moon information (Moon age and phase) and tide information (tide eve and tide range for the current date) are dispayed, you can press B (+) to advance the dispayed tide range by one hour. You aso can use A (+) and C ( ) to change the date. Update of the Moon Phase indicator and the Tide Graph is stopped whie any of the foowing is occurring. During button operation Whie an aarm is sounding Whie a countdown beeper is sounding During dispay iumination During a 2-hour barometric pressure reading operation Adjusting the High Tide Time Use the foowing procedure to adjust the high tide time within a particuar date. You can find out high tide information for your area from a tide tabe, the Internet, or your oca newspaper. To adjust the high tide time 1. In the Tide/Moon Data Mode, use A (+) and C ( ) to seect the date you want. After you seect a date, the watch starts to cacuate Moon and tide data for the date you seected. The cacuation operation takes about 10 seconds, and is indicated by movement in the Moon Phase indicator and the Tide Graph on the dispay. You can use A and C to change to another date whie a cacuation operation is in progress. After cacuation is compete, the Moon information (Moon age and phase) and tide information (current tide eve and tide range) wi be dispayed for the date you seected. 6

7 Hour 2. Whie the Moon information (Moon age and phase) and tide information (current tide eve and tide range) are dispayed, hod down E unti the hour digits start to fash. This is the high tide time hour adjustment screen. 3. Use A (+) and C ( ) to change the hour setting. 4. When the hour is the setting you want, press D. This wi cause the minute digits to fash. 5. Use A (+) and C ( ) to change the minute Minute setting. 6. When the minute setting is the way you want, press E to exit the adjustment screen and return to the Tide/Moon Data Mode screen. Pressing A and C at the same time whie the time adjustment screen is dispayed (steps 2 through 5 above) wi return the high tide time to its initia factory defaut setting. The high tide time setting is not affected by the DST (summer time) setting of the Timekeeping Mode. On some days, there are two high tides. With this watch, you can adjust the first high tide time ony. The second high tide time for that day is adjusted automaticay based on the first high tide time. Reversing the Dispayed Moon Phase The eft-right (east-west) appearance of the Moon depends on whether the Moon is north of you (northery view) or south of you (southery view) as you view it. You can use the procedure beow to reverse the dispayed Moon phase so it matches the actua appearance of the Moon where you are ocated. To determine the viewing direction of the Moon, use a compass to take a direction reading of the Moon at its meridian passage. For information about the Moon phase indicator, see Moon Phase Indicator. To reverse the dispayed Moon phase 1. In the Tide/Moon Data Mode, hod down E unti the hour digits start to fash. 2. Press D twice. This wi cause the Moon phase indicator to fash. This is the indicator switching screen. 3. Press A to togge the Moon phase indicator between the southery view (indicated by ) and northery view (indicated by ). orthery view: Moon is north of you. Southery view: Moon is south of you. 4. When the Moon phase indicator setting is the way you want, press E to exit the switching screen and return to the Tide/Moon Data Mode screen. Countdown Timer Minutes Seconds Current time The countdown timer can be set within a range of one minute to 60 minutes. An aarm sounds when the timer reaches zero. The press of a button wi start the countdown timer from the currenty set start time, and a progress beeper sounds to keep you informed of the current status of the countdown. These features make it possibe to use the watch for yacht racing. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Countdown Timer Mode, which you enter by pressing D. Configuring Countdown Timer Settings The foowing are the settings you shoud configure before actuay using the countdown timer. Countdown start time and reset time Progress beeper (on/off) See To configure countdown timer settings for information about setting up the timer. For detais about the progress beeper, see Progress Beeper. Reset Time You can set a reset time, which is a kind of aternate countdown start time you can reca with the press of a button any time a countdown operation is in progress. Countdown Timer Beeper Operations The watch beeps at various times during a countdown so you can keep informed about the countdown status without ooking at the dispay. The foowing describes the types of beeper operations the watch performs during a countdown. Countdown End Beeper The watch beeps each second of the fina 10 seconds before a countdown reaches zero, and at zero. The first five beeps (seconds 10 through 6) are higher pitched than the fina five beeps (seconds 5 through 1). The watch emits a onger beep to signa when the countdown reaches zero. Progress Beeper The progress beeper actuay incudes two beepers: a reset time beeper and a reset period beeper. ote that the reset time beeper and reset period beeper operate ony whie the progress beeper is turned on. For more information, see To turn the progress beeper on and off. Reset Time Beeper The reset time beeper is simiar to the countdown end beeper. The watch beeps each second of the fina 10 seconds before the countdown reaches the reset time. Reset Period Beeper The reset period is in the portion of the countdown between the reset time and zero. Whie timing is the reset period, the watch wi beep four times at the top of each minute and 10 seconds before the end of the countdown. Start Time Reset Time 3. When the setting you want to change is fashing, use A and C to change it as described beow. Setting Start Time Reset Time Screen Button Operations Use A (+) and C ( ) to change the setting. You can set a start time in the range of 1 to 60 minutes in 1-minute increments. Use A (+) and C ( ) to change the setting. You can set a reset time in the range of 1 to 5 minutes in 1-minute increments. 4. Press E to exit the setting screen. The reset time setting must be ess than the countdown start time setting. To turn the progress beeper on and off Pressing B whie the countdown start time is on the dispay or whie a countdown timer operation is in progress in the Countdown Timer Mode togges progress beeper operation on ( dispayed) and off ( dispayed). To use the countdown timer In the Countdown Timer Mode, press A to start the countdown timer. The countdown timer measurement operation continues even if you exit the Countdown Timer Mode. The tabe beow describes button operations you can perform to contro countdown operations. To do this: Stop the countdown operation Resume a stopped countdown operation Dispay the countdown start time Stop the countdown operation and dispay the reset time Start the countdown from the dispayed reset time Do this: Press A. The stopwatch measurement operation continues even if you exit the Stopwatch Mode. Exiting the Stopwatch Mode whie a spit time is frozen on the dispay cears the spit time and returns to eapsed time measurement. If the current time shown for a city is wrong, check your Home City time settings and make the necessary changes. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Word Time Mode, which you enter by pressing D. To view the time in another city In the Word Time Mode, use A (east) and C (west) to scro through city codes (time zones). For fu information on city codes, see the City Code Tabe. To togge a city code time between Standard Time and Dayight Saving Time DST indicator 1. In the Word Time Mode, use A (east) and C (west) to dispay the city code (time zone) whose Standard Time/Dayight Saving Time setting you want to change. 2. Hod down E to togge between Dayight Saving Time (DST indicator dispayed) and Standard Time (DST indicator not dispayed). The DST indicator appears on the dispay whenever you dispay a city code for which Dayight Saving Time is turned on. You cannot togge between Dayight Saving Time and Standard Time if the dispayed city code is UTC. ote that the DST/Standard Time setting affects ony the currenty dispayed city code. Other city codes are not affected. Aarms Aarm number Aarm time (Hour : Minute) Current time You can set five independent daiy aarms. When an aarm is turned on, the aarm tone sounds when the aarm time is reached. You aso can turn on an Houry Time Signa, which wi cause the watch to beep twice every hour on the hour. The aarm number (AL1 through AL5) indicates an aarm screen. SIG is shown when the Houry Time Signa screen is on the dispay. When you enter the Aarm Mode, the data you were viewing when you ast exited the mode appears first. A of the operations in this section are performed in the Aarm Mode, which you enter by pressing D. To set an aarm time Aarm on indicator On/Off status 1. In the Aarm Mode, use A and C to scro through the aarm screens unti the one whose time you want to set is dispayed. Press D to move the fashing between the hour and minute settings. 4. Whie a setting is fashing, use A (+) and C ( ) to change it. When setting the aarm time using the 12-hour format, take care to set the time correcty as a.m. (no indicator) or p.m. (P indicator). 5. Press E to exit the setting screen. Aarm Operation The aarm sounds in a modes at the preset time for about 10 seconds, or unti you stop it by pressing any button. To test the aarm In the Aarm Mode, hod down A to sound the aarm. To turn an aarm and the Houry Time Signa on and off 1. In the Aarm Mode, use A and C to seect an aarm or the Houry Time Signa. 2. When the aarm or the Houry Time Signa you want is seected, press B to turn it on (O) and off (OF). Indicates aarm is O. Indicates Houry Time Signa is O. The aarm on indicator ( ) and the Houry Time Signa on indicator ( ) are shown on the dispay in a modes whie these functions are turned on. If any aarm is on, the aarm on indicator is shown on the dispay in a modes. Iumination Auto ight switch on indicator The dispay of the watch is iuminated using an EL (eectro-uminescent) pane for easy reading in the dark. The watch s auto ight switch turns on iumination automaticay when you ange the watch towards your face. The auto ight switch must be turned on (indicated by the auto ight switch on indicator) for it to operate. See Iumination Precautions for other important information about using iumination. To turn on iumination manuay Press L in any mode to iuminate the dispay for about one second. The above operation turns on iumination regardess of the current auto ight switch setting. Iumination is disabed whie configuring sensor measurement mode settings, and during bearing sensor caibration. About the Auto Light Switch Turning on the auto ight switch causes iumination to turn on, whenever you position your wrist as described beow in any mode. ote that this watch features a Fu Auto EL Light, so the auto ight switch operates ony when avaiabe ight is beow a certain eve. It does not iuminate the dispay under bright ight. The auto ight switch is aways disabed, regardess of its on/off setting, when any one of the foowing conditions exists.
