Keep up the good work. We recently finished the year with our Christmas Party/Sh-sh-shilent Auction which was, again, a smashing success.

Pam has set up a lift ticket discount for all club members & it's their 1st late night of skiing, so feel free to go back out after the meeting to ski under the lights.

Then the January Happy Hour is on the 10th at the Wishmaker House in Bellville. This should be a great change of pace from the franticness of the holidays.

This past year we have had so many amazing activities to enjoy. And I know that this year will be no different. The survey of potential trips and activities keeps growing from all your input. Keep up the good work. We recently finished the year with our Christmas Party/Sh-sh-shilent Auction which was, again, a smashing success. Thanks to everyone who donated and/or came out to buy for all your support for the Newark Ski Club. Remember that on Jan. 9th we are meeting at Snow Trails in the Alpine Room. Pam has set up a lift ticket discount for all club members & it's their 1st late night of skiing, so feel free to go back out after the meeting to ski under the lights. That way those of us staying inside with a nice hot drink can see and admire your skills. The club is providing the pizzas, so you can provide the fun! Then the January Happy Hour is on the 10th at the Wishmaker House in Bellville. This should be a great change of pace from the franticness of the holidays. 2 Page 2 THE INS IDE EDGE THE INS IDE Page EDGE 2 Snow Trails Ski Weekend Fri-Sat, Jan 9 & 10,2015 As usual, our January meeting will be at Snow Trails on a Friday night. To make this more fun, I have looked into rooms nearby to help keep the driving to a minimum & the party going strong!!! The Travelodge has 1 Queen rooms for $54 & 2 Queen rooms for $57, while the Super 8 has 2 Queen rooms for $59/night. Both have continental breakfasts & are within 2 miles of Snow Trail. For the more discerning, the Wishmaker House B&B and Winery (yes, it s also a Winery!!) is within 5 miles of Snow Trails, offers 8 different rooms starting at $145/night which include a gourmet locally-sourced breakfast. Call them ASAP as these rooms will sell out. Our January Happy Hour will be in their Winery on Saturday night, so maybe just stay the weekend? Check out their amazing selection at wishmakerhouse.com & don t forget to tell them you are with the BEST SKI CLUB ever! Violet Bowman Holiday Valley Midweek 2015!! Sun-Tues, Jan There is still time to get on the great trip I ve got planned to Holiday Valley. This will be a midweek trip, Sunday January 25 through Tuesday 27. I have 2 more rooms blocked off at the Inn for a three day adventure, enjoying the likes of Sunrise, Marti Gras, or Morning Star. The pricing for two with two nights of lodging, breakfast, & lift tickets will be $497 per room. The lift ticket will be good from Sunday 3pm until Tuesday at 4pm. We will be providing a welcome wine & cheese/beer & pretzel party on Sunday evening. You will need to book your own room by calling the Inn at Holiday Valley. Let them know you re with the BEST SKI CLUB in Ohio. I need a head count from everyone planning to go, so please me if you have made a reservation so that I can know the numbers and plan my part accordingly. With the incoming snow & winter weather, this should be an AMAZING trip! Tom Schmidt iskik2s@wndstream.net The Winter Happy Hours In January, I have moved the Happy Hour to coincide with Violet s AMAZING Snow Trails Weekend. It will now be at the Wishmaker B&B & Winery on Saturday, January 10th starting around 5pm or so. This will nicely end bracket y all having a nice weekend away. Come up for the meeting on Friday night and just stay for the weekend. You ll get to relax and ski all day on Saturday before meeting up with friends for some wine and really good-looking eats. Then you can head home on Sunday, or go skiing first. But if you can t make both, feel free to choose the HAPPY HOUR! ;-} Hey, I am looking for some great places to go for next year s Happy Hours. That comes to a savings of over $5!! You will need to go to Guest Services and show them your membership card. Next up is a wonderful get away with trip leader Tom Schmidt to Holiday Valley New York, January 25-27th. This trip really is great for those who appreciate ski-in, ski-out lodging as well as ski-down and right on to the chair action. The Sunday afternoon through Tuesday included lift tickets means we avoid the crowds and can truly get in some serious skiing if that is your pleasure. The town is quaint offering nice shops and restaurants as well having a very enjoyable hot tub at our slope side Inn at Holiday Valley. We have lots of activities and trips in the planning stages for 2015 so come to meetings and read your newsletter so you don t miss any of the fun action. A few of the many things being planned include: a Buckeye Lake Bog Tour followed by dinner at the BL Yacht Club, an outing to an outdoor drama-perhaps with a stop at a winery to spice it up, a return to Put-in-Bay trip, an Ohio Wine Country tour, a visit to The Wilds and more.
