2 City of Treasure Island, FL Beach Sign Art Contest The City of Treasure Island, Florida wants your help to keep our beaches clean and beautiful! We are looking for original and inspiring artwork to help create our new beach information signs. The City will be holding a Beach Sign Art Contest open to everyone ages 10 years old and up. Artwork will be judged by a panel of judges to select finalists in five categories. Finalists will have their original art work featured on one of the City s new beach information signs. The goal of the program is to have original art work beach signs to promote keeping our beaches and water clean and beautiful. CONTEST RULES Criteria for Art & Description Each entry must be composed of a piece of artwork and a description (on the entry form). All entries must meet the requirements below. Eligibility Anyone ages 10 and up. Art work submitted must be created by the individual. ARTWORK & DESCRIPTION REQUIREMENTS: 1. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form. 2. The entries must be on a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper, landscape. 3. Use white, non-glossy paper; do not laminate. 4. Any art medium may be used (e.g., colored pencils, crayons, paint); however, computer graphics will not be accepted. Artwork must be hand-drawn. 5. Artwork must be flat (e.g., no glued pieces or glitter) and able to be scanned. 6. Avoid using brand names in the artwork. 7. A description of no more than 75 words must accompany the artwork (space provided on the entry form). 8. Label each entry on the back in pencil (marker bleeds through the artwork) with: a. Name, address and telephone number and address Entry Form There should be one entry form filled out per entry. Please ensure that the entry form is filled out completely and legibly and is signed. All entries (entry form + artwork) must be submitted via mail (postmarked) or hand-delivered to the Recreation Department at Treasure Island City Hall, th Avenue, Treasure Island, FL 33706, no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 30, Competition Process A judging panel will collect all entries and select up to 5 to 10 finalists in the following five categories: Best Overall Best Anti-Litter Message Best Original Best of ages 10 to 14 years old (at the time of submittal) Best of ages 15 to 18 year old (at the time of submittal)

3 The number of finalists in each category will be based on the proportion of entries received. Entries (artwork and description) will be judged on the creativity, artistic presentation, and how it would translate into a sign. If artwork is being submitted by someone age 17 years of age or younger, please complete the following: Grade Level: Age: Parent/Legal Guardian s Name: Rules and Terms of Contest By participating in the Beach Sign Art Contest, each entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) fully and unconditionally agree to and accept the rules, terms and decisions of the City of Treasure Island and judging panel which are final and binding in all matters related to the Beach Sign Art Contest. The entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) understands that the artwork he or she submits may not be selected for use in the Beach Sign Art Contest. Each entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) fully and unconditionally agrees their participation is voluntary and that they will receive no financial compensation for such participation. All entries become the property of the City of Treasure Island and will not be acknowledged or

5 returned under any circumstances. The entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) confirm that each original artwork was created by the entrant and is not copyright registered under any circumstances. By participating, entrants agree that the winner(s) will grant the City of Treasure Island and its designees the right, except where prohibited by law, to use their or their child s name, age, grade and entry information including original artwork for advertising and promotional purposes in promoting the City s Beach Sign Art Contest in perpetuity without additional compensation, notification or permission. The entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) grant the City an exclusive license to use the artwork or portions or derivations thereof as the City sees fit. Furthermore, the entrant agrees that any reproductions of the artwork or use of the artwork confers no ownership rights upon the artist. By participating in the Beach Sign Art Contest, the entrant (and entrant s parents or legal guardians) agree to release and hold harmless the City of Treasure Island and its public officials, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any claims, costs, injuries, losses for damages of any kind caused by their participation in the Beach Sign Art Contest, including, but not limited to, the unauthorized or illegal access to personally identifiable or sensitive information. * PLEASE READ* Submission of this entry implies permission to use the entrant s name on the new signs as they are funded and created for use by the City of Treasure Island, Florida.
