5 START TIMES Prelims (8 lanes): Warm-up: 7:30 8:50 am (Sprint / Pace lanes open at 8:00) Start Time: 9:00 am Finals (8 lanes) on Thursday, Friday, Saturday: Warm-up: 4:30 5:50 pm (Sprint / Pace lanes open at 5:00) Start Time: 6:00 pm Finals (8 lanes) on Sunday: Warm-up: 3:45 4:50 pm (Sprint / Pace lanes open at 4:00) Start Time: 5:00 pm Pace lanes: 1 Sprint lanes: 2 & 7 (all starts from dive towers end) Backstroke Ledge: lane 8 (during Sprint / Pace lanes open at 8:00 am. & 5:00 pm.)

7 COMPETITION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION Flyover starts for Prelims / No flyover in Finals Distance Events: seeding, prelims, overflow heats Swim-offs Finals sequence: B -> awards -> A 50 metre event start (towers end) and finish (50m end) Backstroke start devices (removal protocol / practise opportunities) Relay procedures Swimmers reporting timelines, locations, march-on

8 WARM-UPS SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION PROCEDURES dated Nov 25, 2014 are in effect. Violations: Swimmers will be removed from their first event Second offense in same competition: removal from competition Permitted: kick boards, pull buoy, snorkel, and stretch cords (in w/u pool during w/u only) Not permitted: fins, paddles, stretch cords in comp pool No Diving in comp pool except in Sprint Lanes during Sprint / Dive Starts in designated timeframes

9 ADAPTATION TO START SIGNAL FOR DEAF SWIMMERS Use of hand signals to indicate the various stages of the start protocol Use of a strobe for the start signal Referee may reassign lanes so that a strobe light or starters arm signals can be readily seen by a deaf swimmer

10 HEAT SHEETS & RESULTS Prelims and Final Sheets: Available daily from the Clerk of Course Posted on the web as soon as they are ready and prior to each session Foreign swimmer designation A finals Results: Posted after each event on the pool deck and upstairs Posted after each event on the Swimming Canada website.

11 SCRATCH PROCEDURE Deadlines Thursday Prelims: 30 minutes post Technical Meeting Friday Sunday Prelims: 30 minutes following the start of Finals the previous evening Finals: Penalties for no show (heats and finals) scratches NOT accepted 30 minutes following Prelims (excluding time final events)

12 BACKSTROKE DEVICES The IT will install the device The IT will also ensure the device is set at 0, initially The IT will check the strapping is free of any twists or knots and also that the wedge/ledge is sitting flat against the wall. Once the athletes arrive behind the block the athlete may change the setting and ensure secured into position, or swimmer may ask the IT what setting to position, or if they wish to use the device at all. If requested, the IT will adjust the device to the requested setting.

13 RELAY PROCEDURE / SUBMISSION Clerk will provide Relay Cards to Coaches at start of Finals warm-up the evening before Friday Prelims. and Sunday Prelims. Clerk will provide Relay Cards to Coaches during Friday Prelims. and Sunday Prelims. (for Finals Relays) All evening Finals: Relay names to Clerk 30 minutes after start of Finals session Friday & Saturday Prelims: Relay names to Clerk 30 minutes following end of Finals previous evening

14 DQ S AND PROTESTS Disqualifications: Disqualifications will be announced and include event number, heat number and lane number. Procedure for protests: Discuss DQ with the session Referee If not resolved, a written protest may be presented to the Referee. A written protest must be presented within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the event (protest forms will be available at the Clerk of Course) If not resolved after discussion of the written protest, the matter may be assigned to a Jury of Appeal.

17 ACCREDITATION INFORMATION Accreditation will be required to gain access to the pool deck Access to the pool will be through the locker rooms and past the main security checkpoint ALL athletes, coaching staff and support staff must have accreditation, individuals without accreditation will not be permitted pool access Lost accreditation will be replaced at a cost of $60.00 per accreditation

21 AWARDS Medals for 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place Awards protocol If a swimmer is unable to attend their award ceremony, please send a fully uniformed substitute swimmer in their place

22 DOPING CONTROL The CCES will be conducting Doping Control during the meet All swimmers selected for Doping Control are required to have photo ID. Coaches are asked to instruct swimmers to bring photo ID to the competition. The CCES will also be conducting awareness and education activities during the competition
