4 lindab we simplify construction Lindab InDomo System A Good Thinking solution to today s ventilation needs We are facing one of the toughest challenges in decades, new buildings and existing homes must minimize their use of energy and in less than 10 years time the target for all new build homes is to reduce energy consumption to their lowest ever levels. This means buildings must be better insulated and more air tight, making energy efficient ventilation even more important. 8 Lindab s InDomo range of products are designed to be integrated into domestic buildings and are backed by Lindab s 50 year s plus of experience and know-how. All circular plenum connections are supplied with gaskets as used on the renowned Lindab Safe system, which fulfils the toughest demands for air tightness, and ensures that ducting can be interconnected quickly and easily whilst leaving you safe in the knowledge that undesired leakage will be minimalized. All manifolds and plenum boxes have a Smart Lock function which allows Lindab s LFPE semi-flexible duct to be attached with a simple push and click and can be removed quickly and simply without the need for tools and without damage to either the flexible duct or the plenum/manifold. 5 The radial ducting solution to today s ventilation needs Up until now residential ventilation ductwork has taken a time consuming cut and construct on sight approach utilising lengths of circular or rectangular rigid plastic or steel ducting, Lindab s InDomo system adopts a new philosophy. Utilising a range of standard off the shelf plenum and distribution boxes Lindab InDomo utilises semi rigid small bore tubing, supplied in 50m reels, to connect from distribution box to the room supply or extract point in one continuous length. This radial approach, feeding out from central distribution boxes to either supply or extract points, has the advantage of both speed of installation and avoids cross contamination and the transfer of noise from room to room. Requiring only the minimum of space, Lindab Indomo can be quickly and easily run in voids with the minimum of interference with other services or structural members. The smooth walled tubing naturally takes up a swept bend form when working around corners thereby reducing pressure drops and lowering fan power consumption. When it comes to comparing to traditional methods experience has shown that installation times can be reduced by up to 66% when using InDomo compared to cut and glue rigid plastic systems. 6 lindab we simplify construction Lindab InDomo System continued Energy Efficiency and Specific Fan Power (SFP) Specific Fan Power is the term used to effectively express the energy efficiency of a fan within a given ventilation system It is calculated by dividing the fan power consumption by the airflow through the duct system, and is expressed in Watts per litre per second (W/l/s). Furthermore: Airflow rates may not be achieved and the system could fail building control inspection. Outside of the design of the fan only one significant factor can influence the result of this calculation The ducting sysytem The better the airflow, through the ducting system the better the SFP value its that simple! As a result a poorly installed or designed system can have a dramatic effect on a systems efficiency both in terms of SFP but also in recovered heat. Noise will increase as the unit tries to achieve the desired air flow against significant back pressure or leakage Lack of airflow will result in poor indoor air quality, high moisture and high CO2 levels. 10

7 Lindab InDomo System is SAP Appendix Q Listed When calculating a buildings energy consumption using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) if flexible ducts are used within the ventilation system then an in use factor of up to 1.7 times the rated specific fan power must be applied to compensate for system losses. With a SAP Appendix Q rated semi-rigid ducting system this in use factor can be greatly reduced. As can be seen below Lindab s InDomo semi-rigid ducting system was independently tested by BRE and was found to perform equally well or better than a rigid duct system and as a result Lindab was one of the first companies to achieve a SAP Appendix Q listing for Semi-Rigid ducting. To qualify for SAP Appendix Q listing Semi Rigid Duct systems must demonstrate under test that their performance is equal to or better than that of a rigid duct system. 22 lindab we simplify construction Clamps CLAMP The CLAMP is used to fix semiflexible ducts LFPE in ceiling spaces, lofts, under floor or embedment. The clamps are available in red or blue colour, for simple identification of supply or exhaust air. They can be linked together for mounting two or more ducts. They are supplied in bags of 48 pieces, which corresponds to the amount needed for one 50m coil of LFPE duct. Recoended distance between the clamps is 1 meter. 25 Lindab InDomo the quiet solution There is nothing more annoying than the constant background noise from a poorly designed ventilation system. That is why, when Lindab developed InDomo residential ductwork, noise was high on the agenda, from the specially designed low profile LRCA silencers to plenum chambers which assist in attenuation of fan noise within the living space noise was always high on the agenda. Take Lindab s LFPE semi rigid ducting for example, it was important to us that whilst selecting a product to give us the flexibility and advantages that a semi rigid duct offers this could not be at the expense of additional noise. As a result of this diligence, Lindab LFPE ducting has the equivalent or better noise break out characteristics as our industrial standard SR spiral ducting whilst the extremely smooth internal wall of LFPE results in little or no turbulence generated noise. 30 lindab we simplify construction Valve supply and exhaust air AIRY The Airy valve is designed for wall or ceiling installation in new-build or as an upgrade replacement. Its smart grip function ensures easy installation whilst its unique sound performance ensures an optimum sound level. The valve consists of two parts; the valve body (AIRYB) and the flat front plate (AIRYFP). The valve body is fixed to the duct system or a valve socket via flexible spring wings. The front plate is attached to the valve body via springs. 34 There are 5 standard front plate shapes: ROUN a circle, BOW a square with slightly bulged edges, SQUA a square, ELLI an ellipse. RECT a rectangle, It is recoended that the valve is mounted in the frame ILVRU. The product will also fit in the valve frames VRGU, VRGM, VRFU, VRFM and the products BU GJUT, and TCPU GJUT. The valve body has to cover the brim of the product it is fitted into. Therefor the maximum diameter of the brim for Ø100 is 133,5, for Ø125 is 152,5 and for Ø160 is 187,5. Can be equipped with a blanking off sector plate for 2 or 3 way air flow. Maintenance The visible parts can be wiped off with a damp cloth. Under normal conditions the valve cone can be adjusted in and out and then once the desired extraction rate and pressure drop has been achieved can be locked in position. The valve however contains an integral thermal fuse which, when triggered, causes the spring-return central cone to close preventing the spread of fire. FDV Fire Valves have an adjustable central cone and collar made of epoxy-painted steel, finished in white (RAL 9010) and are manufactured under ISO 9001 quality control systems. Lindab FDV Fire Valves are supplied with a matching mounting ring. If vertical and horizontal connection is required on the same outlet/inlet, additional spigots can be supplied. The condensate drain can be taken out through the back, side or bottom of the unit.
