2 Dear Members, From Our President After an unbelievable opening weekend, we were thrilled to see and hear so many of you have already hit the courts, taken a dip in the pool and enjoyed some poolside grilling. First off, a huge thank you to Joe Welby, Nancy Seward, Todd Lieb and Emily L Esperance and all the members who helped get the club ready this Spring. The Club looks fantastic! As most of you know, registration is open. We are offering a ton of swim and tennis programs, along with Kid Zone activities and it is never too late to sign up! Opening Cocktail Party June 17 th Kids Game Day- June 24 th Hawaiian Night- July 6 th Kids Movie Night July 12th & 26 th For adults, please be sure to check our tennis lessons, cardio tennis, Masters Swim class and early morning quiet adult-only swim. In addition, this year we are planning a senior social in early-august. Lastly, please be sure to check the Member s Etiquette section of this newsletter. 3 Kid Zone It s that time of the year again, when we start thinking about fun filled summer options for our children and KidZone is the answer! KidZone is designed to provide a full day of activities for children ages 4-10 utilizing the club facilities, and incorporating their scheduled swim and tennis without a parent/adult being on the premises. This year you will choose either a swim lesson OR swim team to accompany your tennis lesson. KidZone does not run on Fridays, however, kids can still participate in their swim/tennis activities on this day if they have adult supervision with them during the July 11-14th Session Almost Fully booked! Reserve your space Today! activity. In addition to swim and tennis, there will be crafts, games, theme weeks, competitions and other fun activities to help round out the KidZone day. KidZone will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00PM for all ages, and drop-off will take place at the front gate and pick-up will be at the pool. Someone will be there to greet you and your child until 9:15 AM. If you arrive after 9:15, please bring your child to the KidZone tent area. PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING! Towels, clothes, swimsuits, shoes, lunch bags, water bottles, goggles, etc. It is VERY helpful for making sure everyone returns home with their own belongings. Kids must be 4 years old to start. Parents will provide a NUT FREE lunch daily for their child. Each session is limited to 25 campers. It is up to the KidZone Director and Joe Welby if KidZone will be held during rainy or stormy weather. Please KidZone@WaylandSwimAndTennis.com with questions. 4 Swim Programs Adult Swim Programs This summer we are happy to welcome back Margaret Randle, who will be coaching adult swim clinics once again. She has coached adult swimmers of all skill levels. Masters Swimming at the club will be a program for adults of any ability to improve fitness and technique. Consider joining Masters if you can swim at least one length of the pool. Each clinic will involve a challenging and rewarding workout catered to your goals. Margaret will also be available to coach private clinics to adults of any level for a more individual lesson. Adult swimmers, we hope to see you there! Adult Masters Class will run June 23 - July 28 Women s class: Thursday 5:45-6:30 p.m. Men s class: Thursday 6:45-7:30 Cost: $60, paid once upon registration for 6 weeks Adult Private Swim Lessons: Schedule through Swim Director according to Margaret s availability Cost: $25/half hour or $45/hour Description:Private lessons are for any level adult swimmer who wants some extra, personalized technique and/or fitness work in the pool. Margaret will get in the pool with beginners - any ability level is encouraged to sign up! Quiet Morning Adult Lap Swim - Begins June 27th Times: M-F 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Limited to first 10 entrants per morning. We will once again offer Adult Morning Lap Swim. This is a COMPLETELY QUIET morning swim ADULTS ONLY. You cannot bring your children to the club at the time as it is against our club by-laws with the town. We will lose this privilege if we do this. This is a time for the adults to have use of the pool without children, noodles and noise interrupting the peacefulness of the woods. Come and enjoy this wonderful addition to our programming. Please remember, only whispering and swimming allowed! Youth Swim Lessons We are excited to welcome old and new faces to the swim lesson staff this summer! Leading swim lessons will be Abi Betancourt, Lori Cliff, and Nick Fay. Abi taught lessons last summer and has grown up swimming at WSTC. Nick and Lori are excited to get to know the kids, and both have experience teaching swim lessons through the Water Warriors program at WHS. Lessons can be registered for online on a weekly basis. We will start our first day of lessons on Monday June 27th. 4-6 year old lessons - Monday through Friday from 10:15-10:45 am year old lessons run Monday through Friday from 10:45-11:30 am. All lessons are $45/week. We are also lucky to have our accomplished dive coach Maura Sticco-Ivins returning for another season on the boards. Altogether we have a great group of swim staff who are excited to get started with our swimming programs. 5 Swim Team We are fortunate to have Mike Foley returning to coach swim team and Maura Sticco-Ivins back to coach diving. Information can be found on the new WSTC website, Reminders: Swimsuit orders due by June 10th: The swimsuits are the same as the ones used last year. Many swimmers and divers wear the team suit to the swim and dive meets, but any competitive swim suit is fine. Swimsuits need to be ordered on-line here: Team Swim Suits Preseason swim team practices start Monday June 6th. They are held Monday through Thursday. Preseason gives your swimmer a chance to meet the coaches, other kids, and start conditioning. Preseason is not mandatory, but a great way to get back into the swing of things and gear up for a great season! (No practice Monday June 20th) 6-unders practice from 4:00-4:30 8-unders from 4:00-4:45 9+ practice from 4:15-5:00 Swim Team Begins June 21st Monday through Friday: One Additional Swimsuit Fitting 6/9 WSTC Kids (6 and unders) 11:30-12:00 pm or 5:00-5:30 pm Juniors (7-10) 10:30-11:30 am or 5:00-6:00 pm Teens(11&up)9:30-10:30 am or 5:00-6:00 pm Dive lessons/team begins June 21: Monday through Friday, All ages: 1-3pm. Depending on the interest, the groups may be divided by age and/or ability, and practice from 1-2p or 2-3p. First meet is on Wed, June 29th: 4pm warm-up/5pm start. HOME meet vs. Westford. Come join us for a heart-pumping tennis workout Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-10:30 am Round Robins WSTC will be hosting round robins from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturdays Tennis Kick Off Adult Round Robin June 18 Parent/ Child Round Robin July 9 Bring a guest round robin July 23 Last round robin July 30 Registration is required for all events. 7 Please keep these simple guidelines in mind as you enjoy the club this summer! All members, guests and babysitters, including children, must sign in daily There is a $5 charge for each guest. Guests are limited to 12 visits per season Babysitters are not subject to the guest fee or frequency of use restrictions Children under the age of 3 are not allowed in the large pool without an adult Children under 10 years old are not allowed in the pool area unaccompanied There is NO honking or idling allowed in the circle. If you need to wait, then park No glass in allowed on the pool deck or locker rooms Food is allowed in the picnic areas only Please pick up after yourself! Member s Etiquette If you drop food on the ground, pick it up. Don t leave empty containers on the tables No pets of any size or kind are allowed at the club Note on Parties: If you want to have a party at WSTC, you MUST coordinate this with Joe Welby.
