2 Victor A AGUILARHEAD COACH El Paso native and UTEP graduate Victor the Miners' tennis program. Aguilar was an assistant coach for the team from , which proved to be the winningest stretch in the program's history. The Miners racked up 48 wins in the timeframe, including a school-record 16 victories in UTEP has reached double digits in triumphs in consecutive campaigns for just the second time in school annals. The program standard is a three-year stretch ( , and ). Aguilar, who remains active as a player, has plenty of experience. He has been one of the top tennis professionals in El Paso the past 23 years. Born and raised in El Paso, Aguilar played junior tennis throughout the Southwest and was ranked No. 1 in boys 12 and 14. He moved to Denver, Colo., for high school, where he won the state doubles title as a freshman. As a sophomore, he was the third-ranked singles player in the state. He elevated to the top spot for his junior and senior seasons. After high school, he received a scholarship to Southern Illinois University. He transferred to St. Regis College in Denver, claiming Rocky Mountain Conference titles at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Aguilar then returned home to El Paso, where he completed his degree in At the same time, he competed in local open and money tournaments. Following graduation, Aguilar was a public school history teacher. He later earned his master's degree from UTEP, graduating in 1987 with a master's in history. The top-ranked senior player in El Paso in his age bracket for the past 23 years, Aguilar taught at El Paso Community College for 12 years. 3 DariyaAbdrakhmanova SO-1L Samara, Russia (Samara Sport Liceym) : Competed in all four fall tournaments, and closed the season at the UNM Invite. Mid-season signee who debuted with UTEP with the onset of the 1 position following injury to Martina Trierweiler, and handled transition with ease... rolled conlusion to the campaign... impacted doubles play with a quartet of victories, including a 3-3 mark when paired with Carolina DeLuca at No. 1 doubles. Won regional championships in both singles and doubles in 2008 & 2009 as part of Samara Sport Liceym... has been an annual member of the Samara All-Region squad since rated as high as 36th nationally in 16s... led her squad to a thirdplace showing at a prestigious Russian High School Event... was a solid student, as well, who earned a pair of academic honors... recognition was for achievements in biology and physical education. Played in a variety of tournaments throughout Mexico, garnering France, Germany and Morocco. 5 CarolinaDeLuca JR-2L Sao Paulo, Brazil (Colegio Anteneu) picked up a pair of victories in doubles play, both of which came when she joined up with fellow countrymate Martina Trierweiler. Paced the team with 16 doubles wins, including a squad-best seven during started singles play on a high note with back-to-back triumphs on the way to advancing to the (eight) wins during singles play... posted four singles triumphs in three fall tournaments.
