2 TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS Players are advised to retain this part of the entry form for their own information, noting the entry conditions and event dates. Age Eligibility: Entrants in Age events must supply their birth dates and produce their birth certificates if requested. Eligibility for Junior events is based on the player s age as at 31 July 2011 (i.e. 18 & Under born 1 August 1992 or later; 16 & Under born 1 August 1994 or later; 14 & Under born 1 August 1996 or later). Senior events are open to players who reach the relevant age at any time during the year of the tournament or earlier (i.e. 35 & Over born 1976 or earlier; 40 & Over born 1971 or earlier; 50 & Over born 1961). Grade Event Eligibility: The listed Fixture grade cut-offs for Round-Robin Grade events are approximate only. Fixture players are required to disclose all relevant information about their current Fixtures (organising bodies, competitions, seasons, team names & grades). Grade event entries without this information may not be accepted. The Committee reserves the right to transfer a player to a higher level event if it deems the player to be above the designated standard for the level entered and is not required to give a reason or to advise the player beforehand. Withdrawals: Entries: Qualifying: Minimum Entries: Matches: Consolation: Doubles: Surface & Venues: Exemptions: Entry Fees: Balls: Junior Players: Players who withdraw from an event on or after 5 p.m. on Wednesday 29 June, or withdraw from an event during the tournament, will be penalised under the TA Code of Behaviour; except in those cases where a medical certificate or other reasonable cause is provided for nonparticipation. Withdrawal notification must be in writing and submitted to the Tournament Director immediately. Evidence in support of the withdrawal (i.e. medical certificate, etc.) must be submitted to the Tournament Director within seven days of the withdrawal notification. Players shall be permitted to enter in three events but, if entered in three events, one must be a Doubles. Entries must be lodged with all fees by Saturday, 25 June; except that a postal entry received after this date, but prior to the event draw being completed, shall be accepted provided it bears a postmark of Friday, 24 June or earlier. Qualifying events will be conducted for Events 1, 2, 6 & 7 where the draw exceeds 32 entries. Where a Qualifying is used, there will be 24 direct acceptances into the Main Draw based on ARs with the remaining players competing in the Qualifying for the final 8 positions in the Main Draw. For an event to be conducted, a minimum of four entries will be required. Where there are less than four entries, the entrants will be given the option of transferring to another event or receiving a refund. Events 1 to 20 shall be played using the Knock-Out format and all matches shall be the best-of-three sets [except in Events 3-5, 8-9 & and Consolation events where, if the score reaches one set all, the third set shall be replaced by a deciding match tie-break (10 points)]. In any set, if the score reaches six games all, a tie-break game shall be played to determine the winner of the set. Events 21 to 44 shall be played using Round-Robin formats. Depending on numbers, players in each event will be split into groups with group winners going on to compete in play-offs to determine the event winner. Match lengths will be determined by the Committee prior to play starting but would normally be one first-to-six-games set with a tie-break at five-all. In all events, matches may be scheduled to be played or completed under lights. Dependent on entry numbers, some event formats may differ from those advertised. In Events 1, 2, 6 & 7, a sign-on optional Consolation will be conducted. For events using a Qualifying, the Consolation will be open to all losers in the Qualifying Draw and the first round losers in the Main Draw. If the Qualifying is not used, the Consolation will be open to the losers in the first and second rounds of the main draw. Eligible players have until 5 p.m. On the day they lose in the Qualifying or Main Draw to sign on at the Tournament Office for the Consolation (or within 1 hour of the conclusion of the match if it finishes after 5 p.m.). Entries in Doubles events shall only be accepted where players nominate their own partners. Open, 18 & Under and Special events will be played on Hardcourts and Cushioned Hardcourts. 35 & Over, 40 & Over and 50 & Over events will be played on Synthetic Grass. Other events will be played on Hardcourts, Cushioned Hardcourts or Synthetic Grass. N.B. The UQ Tennis Centre was destroyed in the January Floods. Because not all courts at the UQ Tennis Centre have been repaired, some matches may be played at other centres which are yet to be determined. Players must be available at all times during the tournament. Any time exemption requests will be ignored. Refer to the List of Events for Entry Fees. The Entry Fees listed are per person and include GST and Tennis Queensland Sanction Fees. Tennis Australia approved tennis balls (namely the Wilson Australian Open ball) will be used. Tournament Officials are not able to supervise children (i.e. persons under 18 years of age) playing in this Tournament. Entries from juniors are only accepted on the understanding that the supervision and protection of children during their participation in the University Open Tennis Championships is the responsibility of their parents/guardians and not the Tournament Committee and other Tournament Officials. TOURNAMENT RULES AND POLICIES 1. ENTRY CONDITIONS (a) This tournament, which is being conducted by The University of Queensland Tennis Club Inc. (UQ Tennis Club), is sanctioned by Tennis Queensland and Tennis Australia and will be conducted in accordance with Uniform Tennis Australia Anti-Corruption Program, Tennis Australia s Member Protection By-Law, the applicable tournament rules and regulations and Tennis Australia s Code of Behaviour (each as amended from time to time). (b) Acknowledgement of Policies Rules & Regulations: By signing acceptance of the entry conditions when entering, participants acknowledge and agree that all Tennis Australia policies can be readily viewed at and that it is his/her responsibility to view these and seek clarification, if required, from the Tennis Australia Tournaments & Competitions Department AND agree to comply with and be bound by the ITF Rules of Play, the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program, the Tennis Australia Code of Behaviour (including its reference to spectator behaviour and interference), the Tennis Australia Member Protection By-Law, the Tennis Australia Anti-Doping Policy, the applicable tournament rules and regulations and any other policies, rules, procedures or regulations notified by Tennis Australia to players from time to time. (c) Spectator Behaviour: Inappropriate spectator behaviour could result in denial of entry at future Tennis Australia and Member Association sanctioned events and will be dealt with in accordance with the above policies. This includes, but is not limited to, behaviour at tennis venues, hotels and transport vehicles. (d) Publicity & Promotion: By signing acceptance of the entry conditions when entering, participants grant and assign to Tennis Australia and the UQ Tennis Club and any third party at the reasonable discretion of Tennis Australia the right in perpetuity throughout the world to make, use, show and reproduce at their discretion, motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television, sound recordings and any other reproductions of any description of them taken or produced during or in connection with the tournament. Participants agree that their name, voice, likeness, image and biographical material may also be used and reproduced in any way for the purpose of providing information and news in relation to the tournament, audio visual coverage, distribution and broadcast of the tournament, archival purposes, and publicising, promoting and advertising Tennis Australia and the tournament. Participants acknowledge that this usage, including for commercial purposes, is without compensation or notice to participants, heirs, devices, executors, administrators or assigns. (e) Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program: By indicating acceptance of the entry conditions when entering on-line, participants acknowledge that Tennis has a Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program and the Program rules are included in the 2011 Official Grand Slam Rule Book and accept that they and their related persons must comply with and be bound by all provisions included in the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. The Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program prohibits certain conduct by a player and his/her related persons, as defined in the rule, including, but not limited to (i) wagering on any tennis match, (ii) contriving or attempting to contrive the outcome of any tennis match, (iii) providing for consideration information concerning the condition or status of players and (iv) the failure to report to the Tennis Integrity Unit as soon as possible any knowledge I may have regarding potential violations of the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. Nothing in this paragraph shall modify or limit the full text of the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. Related persons is defined as any coach, trainer, therapist, physician, management representative, agent, family member, tournament guest, business associate or other affiliate or associate of any player, or any other person who receives accreditation at an event at the request of the player or any other related person. (f) Privacy: Tennis Australia and the UQ Tennis Club require the information requested in this entry form to provide applicants with entry to the tournament. Participants personal information will only be used for this purpose and related purposes which can be reasonably expected and will not be disclosed to third parties without their consent. Participants may access their personal information through Tennis Australia and the UQ Tennis Club upon giving reasonable notice. (g) Membership Number: All Australian resident entrants must be registered with a Member Association and must have a My Tennis ID number, available by becoming a member of an affiliated association/club or registering directly with their respective Member (State) Association. (h) Tennis Coaches: Tennis Australia recommends that participants use only TA certified coaches. This will ensure that the coach (i) has a coaching qualification recognised by Tennis Australia and the Australian Sports Commission, (ii) has currently updated his/her coaching credentials via ongoing professional developments, (iii) has met legislative requirements for Working With Children Check (or relevant State equivalent) and (iv) has an updated first aid qualification. Further information on coaches, including a list of certified coaches, can be viewed at certification. 2. FILMING / PHOTOGRAPHY Note that the following restrictions apply to filming or photography by any means, including camera, video camera, mobile phone or other wireless device. (a) By virtue of clause 1(d) above, Tennis Australia, the host venue and any third party at the reasonable discretion of Tennis Australia (for example, the relevant Member Association) have the perpetual right to make, show and reproduce still and motion pictures of entrants at Tennis Australia sanctioned tournaments. (b) Otherwise, filming or photography of players on court is only permitted where: (i) both players provide their express consent both to the filming/photography and to the purpose for which it is being taken (or, where a player is under 18, their parent or guardian provides express consent). The fact that a player or their parent/guardian does not object to filming or photography is not enough; (ii) the tournament host venue provides its express consent to the proposed filming/ photography on its premises; (iii) the tournament referee is aware of the proposed filming or photography and retains discretion to require that filming or photography cease (see point (e) below); and (iv) a flash is not used. (c) Filming or photography is permitted off court for private and domestic use only. Photographs must not be sold, licensed, published (including electronically) or otherwise commercially exploited. (d) Filming and photography are strictly prohibited in restricted areas including change rooms (e) At all times, the tournament referee has discretion in relation to all filming and photography. Any person deemed to be acting inappropriately will be asked to cease taking photographs/film, may have their camera/video camera/mobile phone/other device confiscated whilst they are onsite at the tournament or may be asked to leave the tournament venue. 3. CONSENTS (a) By indicating acceptance of the entry conditions when entering, participants acknowledge and agree that, in consideration of their participation in the University Open Tennis Championships, they agree to release the UQ Tennis Club, Tennis Queensland, Tennis Australia, Tennis Seniors Australia, Tennis Seniors Queensland and Tennis Officials Australia from all liability, including but not limited to these bodies and their directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents' negligence or carelessness. Without limiting the foregoing, participants also agree to release, defend, hold harmless and indemnify the UQ Tennis Club, Tennis Queensland, Tennis Australia, Tennis Seniors Australia, Tennis Seniors Queensland and Tennis Officials Australia and these bodies' directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from and against any actions, proceedings, claims, demands, expenses (including legal expenses, damages and liabilities howsoever arising or incurred as a result of or in connection with their participation in the University Open Tennis Championships, their conduct and/ or their negligence. )b) In consideration of the UQ Tennis Club accepting their entry into the University Open Tennis Championships, participants consent to any health service provider appointed by the UQ Tennis Club (including but not limited to a medical practitioner, physiotherapist or sports trainer) consulting with, screening and treating them and collecting and storing the participants personal information as well as records of consultation and/or treatment. Participants also consent to the UQ Tennis Club obtaining on their behalf any emergency medical assistance, treatment and/or transport as deemed reasonably necessary during their participation in the University Open Tennis Championships (with such assistance, treatment and transport being at the participants' expense unless agreed otherwise).

Go to or for more details. ITN 1 This player has had intensive training for national tournament competition at the junior and senior levels. Holds or is capable of holding an ATP/WTA ranking and major source of income is through tournament prize money. ITN 2 This player has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. Can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation. ITN 3 This player has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot around which a game may be structured. Can regularly hit winners and force errors off short balls. Can put away volleys and smashes and has a variety of serves to rely on. ITN 4 This player can use power and spin and has begun to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots, and can vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and impart spin on second serves. ITN 5 This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both groundstrokes and on moderate shots. Has the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. ITN 6 This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, improved shot control and is developing teamwork in doubles. ITN 7 This player is fairly consistent when hitting medium paced shots, but is not yet comfortable with all strokes. Lacks control over depth, direction and power. ITN 8 This player is learning to judge where the ball is going and can sustain a short rally of slow pace. ITN 9 This player needs on court experience and strokes can be completed with some success. ITN 10 This player is starting to play competitively (can serve and return/rally) on a full court using a normal ITF approved ball. ITN 10.1* This player is able to rally with movement and control. ITN 10.2* This player has developed some simple tennis-specific skills in hitting an oncoming ball regularly, however rallying with movement and control is not yet achieved. ITN 10.3* This player is in the early stages of tennis skills development and is primarily learning simple tennis co-ordination tasks/exercises. * The ITN 10.1 to ITN 10.3 categories will usually involve playing in a modified environment using transition/soft balls on a reduced court and/or using adapted racquets as appropriate.
