CTA offers disconted memberships for residents eligible for the Town s Affordable Services Program.

5 Why a Tennis Centre contined Canmore Tennis Centre expansion is endorsed by Tennis Canada and Tennis Alberta; Tennis is a growth sport in Canada According to an article in the Toronto Sn, Feb 2017 titled Canadian kids trn to tennis in record nmbers Call it the Milos Raonic/Egenie Bochard effect. In record nmbers, Canadian kids are playing tennis and the rise in participation rates jst happens to coincide with breakthrogh performances by Raonic and Bochard on the world stage. According to Tennis Canada, 161,000 boys and girls nder 12 played tennis on a freqent basis in 2016 meaning at least once a week over an eight-week season. That nmber represents an 8% increase from 2015 and at least a 23% jmp from While the nmber of registered hockey players in Canada dropped by 82,000 to 639,5000 in , the nmber of Canadians playing tennis jmped by 14 per cent to 6.5 million in In a 2015 stdy commissioned by Tennis Canada, 24% of parents cited safety as the main reason for enrolling their children in tennis. (Bochard s 2015 concssion from slipping in the U.S. Open locker-room aside, concssions are considered rare in tennis.)

6 Proposed Tennis Centre CTA & Town of Canmore worked with a conslting firm to design & estimate the cost of the Tennis Centre to be bilt in 2 phases.

7 Proposed Tennis Centre The graphic below shows how the new corts are oriented over the existing corts. The new corts tilize the existing washrooms (shared with Canmore Soccer teams) and the existing asphalt base.

8 Phase 1 Storage shed Washrooms Five (5) Tennis Corts with potential for separating ot one single as ftre expansion Bilt to International Tennis Federation (ITF) specifications with N-S orientation and spacing between corts Bleachers Teaching/ stadim cort Ball machine cort Back board Half Cort (Practice Area) with concrete backboard wall. This will be significantly qieter than existing wood backboard Storage Shed to be shared with Soccer clbs Fencing (All Perimeter Fencing) Tennis Cort (Nets, Post, misc. accessories) Pathway (Asphalt) Bleachers, Bike Racks Improvements to existing granlar trail Landscape improvement and restorations. Electrical Condits & Servicing Phase 1 constrction as early as 2019

10 Cost & Fnding Tennis Centre owned and maintained by the Town of Canmore Phase 1 cost estimate (+/-15%) = $725,000 CTA Fnding - 3 sorces: 1. Grants: p to 50% grant (matching fnds reqired) 2. Ftre CTA individal and family memberships: 20 year estimate = $200,000 to $300,000 based on modest growth in memberships. 3. Donations and sponsors: Personal and Corporate Donations and Sponsors Corporate Memberships

11 Grants Commnity Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP): 1. p to 50% grant (matching fnds reqired) 2. Application to be completed and sbmitted prior to October 1, 2018; Federal Government and other grants are being investigated

12 Ftre CTA membership revene CTA to repay the Town of Canmore for a significant portion of the Town s investment into the Tennis Centre expansion: 20 year estimate = $200,000 to $300,000 based on modest growth in memberships. Example: 2% annal growth in memberships and fees. 75% of CTA membership income paid to the Town, Total: $260,000 paid to Town from 2018 to 2038.

Fnds will be held in a designated accont for Canmore Tennis Centre expansion.
