CONTACT: GFORIEST@MANHATTANCC.COM (310) UPDATES FROM THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS: TENNIS RESERVATION POLICY CHANGE The Board of Governors reviewed results of Tennis Reservation Policy changes in ir June session. The analysis showed that while desired effect of promoting more equity in allocation of Prime Time play was in fact achieved, response from members has been overwhelmingly opposed. The Board also evaluated a change of reservation opening times from 7am to 6pm, but ultimately determined that best course of action in order to ensure equal opportunity to reserve a court would be to revert Tennis reservation policy back to original time of 6am, two days prior to play for all reservations. THIS CHANGE BECAME EFFECTIVE JULY 1ST. BOARD COMMITTEES The Board Committees are in place in order to organize Club programs and initiatives that have a long term positive impact on Club and add value to member experience. The Board has four standing committees that work with management and members to achieve this objective. The Committee Chairs for Board Term are as follows: TENNIS COMMITTEE: Co-Chairs Jim Schlager & Chloe Eichenlaub ENTERTAINMENT/SOCIAL COMMITTEE: Co-Chairs Barbara Oliker & James Orland YOUTH COMMITTEE: Janet Wisialowski SPORTS COMMITTEE: Dave Watson If you are interested in participating in Committee meetings or have suggestions to contribute, please bog@manhattancc.com with name of committee you are interested in and a brief explanation of your interest. 4 FITNESS & WELLNESS HERE ARE SOME TIPS: EAT YOUR WATER Chowing down on water-filled foods like watermelon, is an easy and refreshing way to keep hydrated. SWAP SODA FOR SPARKLING WATER If you re trying to kick a soda habit, sparkling water is a healthy, but still fizzy, alternative. HYDRATE BEFORE EXERCISING Be sure to drink water before exercising to maximize your workout. DRINK WATER ON THE PLANE If you re traveling this Summer, don t forget to drink up H2O on plane. FITNESS TIP HYDRATION WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU RE NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER? Stay hydrated! is a frequent phrase shared in summer, but what are best ways to do it? Sorry adults, those oh so refreshing adult beverages are not on this menu. Hydration levels have a huge impact on how we feel, perform and wouldn t you know it, LOOK! Guarantee you that H2O can make your skin look better in a matter of days! STAY HYDRATED AT WORK Even when working indoors, it s important to keep fluids handy. DRINK WATER BEFORE MEALS By drinking water before meals, not only will you stay hydrated but you re less likely to overeat. HAVE ENOUGH ON HAND When you re spending day camping or biking, it s important to bring enough water to last trip. SPICE IT UP WITH HEALTHY FLAVORING If you re having a hard time getting enough water, spice it up with some natural flavoring, like lemon or any fruit you may like. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR DAILY WATER INTAKE Try this tasty and handy way to keep track of your H2O intake. KEEP A REUSABLE BOTTLE WITH YOU Having a water bottle with you at all times is easiest way to stay hydrated without even thinking about it. PROTEIN...it s not just for bodybuilders! PROTEIN SMOOTHIES COMING SOON COMING SOON The Club has been in test kitchen with some great energy and protein supplements, working on recipes for our upcoming drinks menu at poolbar. These are some of best supplements we ve worked with as far as flavor and quality of ingredients. Whey protein from grassfed (no rbgh) cows, sweetened with stevia for a low glycemic index, packed with nutrients and flavor. Please look for se to hit poolbar second week of July!
