2 East Division Player of the Week Sandy Lewis, Akron (Sr., OH, Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) Akron s Sandy Lewis is this week s MAC East Division Player of the Week. Lewis, who is honored for the first time this season and for the second time in her career, helped the Zips to three wins last week. For the week, Lewis averaged 4.82 kills, 5.73 digs, 5.64 points and 0.73 blocks per game while hitting.267 ( ). The senior started the week with 26 kills and 35 digs in a win at Eastern Michigan, which handed the Eagles their first league loss of the year -- also snapped a nine-match EMU win streak. She then added 18 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in a win over Buffalo. Lewis closed out the week with 17 digs, nine kills and three blocks in a victory over Miami. Other Nominees Danielle Holt, Kent State -- Averaged 4.66 kills, 3.83 digs and 1.33 aces per game as the Golden Flashes went 1-1 last week. Holt, who also hit.277, had 21 kills, 15 digs, two aces and a pair of blocks against Ball State. Tracey King, Marshall -- Had 20 kills, 11 digs and hit.381 against Central Michigan. Also had 16 kills, 16 digs and four blocks in a win over Western Michigan. For the week, she averaged 4.00 kills, 3.00 digs, 0.67 blocks and hit.329. Laura Hageman, Ohio -- Averaged 3.75 kills, 4.00 digs, 1.75 blocks and 1.25 assists per game in a pair of victories. She had 17 kills and a career-high eight assists against Eastern Michigan. She then added 13 kills, 12 digs and hit.312 versus Western Michigan. MAC East Division of the Week Sept Lindsay Matikosh, Buffalo Sept Laura Hageman, Ohio Sept Laura Hageman, Ohio Sept Laura Hageman, Ohio Sept Danielle Holt, Kent State Oct Laura Hageman, Ohio Oct Danielle Holt, Kent State Oct Sandy Lewis, Akron West Division Co-Player of the Week Sarah Obras, Ball State (So., OA, Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) For the third time this season, Ball State s Sarah Obras is named the MAC West Division Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Central Michigan s Shaleene Glombowski. Obras hit.349 ( ) in three victories and averaged 6.33 kills and 4.89 digs per game. Obras opened with a 19-kill, 11-dig outing against Miami, then added 21 kills and 11 digs versus Kent State. She closed out the week with 17 kills and 22 digs versus Buffalo. Shaleene Glombowski, Central Michigan (Sr., S, Marysville, Mich./Marysville) Central Michigan setter Shaleene Glombowski joins Ball State s Obras as this week s Co-Player of the Week in the West Division. In a pair of wins last week, Glombowski averaged assists per game, more than two assists higher than her season average. In addition, she also averaged 1.70 digs and 0.70 blocks per game. In a win over then-west Division leader Eastern Michigan, the senior had 66 assists and added four kills, two blocks and a pair of aces. She then distributed a career-high 80 assists in a win over Marshall while adding 13 digs and five blocks. Other Nominees Chrissy Gothke, Bowling Green -- Averaged 5.67 digs per game in three matches last week. Opened the week with 22 digs versus Cleveland State, then added 20 versus Toledo and 26 against Northern Illinois. Rachel Mohler, Toledo -- Hit.324 with 16 kills, eight digs and a pair of aces in a win over Northern Illinois. Also had 14 kills versus Bowling Green. Averaged.4.29 kills and 1.71 digs per game. Shaylen Jackson, Western Michigan -- Hit.277 in two matches while averaging 2.62 kills and 1.12 blocks per game. Had 11 kills and seven blocks versus Marshall. Also had 10 kills and hit.471 against Ohio. MAC West Division Player of the Week Sept Tera Lobdell, Northern Illinois Sept Sarah Obras, Ball State Sept Tera Lobdell, Northern Illinois Sept Jennifer Nighswander, Eastern Michigan Sept Sarah Obras, Ball State Oct Jennifer Nighswander, Eastern Michigan Oct Emily Lovejoy, Central Michigan Oct Sarah Obras, Ball State Shaleene Glombowski, Central Michigan SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON STARTS: The second half of the conference schedule will be in full swing this week as teams begin jockeying for position for this year s MAC tournament. Ohio (7-0) has a two and a half game lead over Kent State (5-3) in the East Division, and a three game advantage over Marshall and Akron (both 4-3). In the West, Ball State moved into first place after winning three matches to improve its record to 5-3. BSU has a half game lead over Eastern Michigan (4-3) and a one game lead over Western Michigan and Central Michigan (both 4-4). A total of two games separate all seven teams in the West. OHIO S WIN STREAK STANDS AT 14: Ohio moved its win streak to 14 in a row with victories over the weekend against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. The Bobcats, who are 16-3 overall and 7-0 in the MAC, have equaled the Eagles streak of a year ago and hold the longest streak in the conference since the Broncos won 19 in a row in Ohio has won 18 of its last 20 conference regular season contests. The Bobcats wrap up a five-match road swing this weekend with matches at Kent State and Miami. LOBDELL REACHES 1,000 CAREER KILLS: Northern Illinois outside hitter Tera Lobdell became the 14th player in school history to collect 1,000 career kills with her 11th of 20 successful swings versus Bowling Green Saturday. The junior posted 12 more putaways versus Toledo Sunday to run her total to 1,021 career kills and stands just 48 kills away from the 12th spot on the all-time Huskie charts. MORLOCK APPROACHES BLOCKS MARK: Akron s Monica Morlock led the team in two categories, hitting percentage and blocking, as the Zips won three matches. She averaged 2.55 kills per game, and had an impressive hitting percentage of.448. Out of 58 total attacks, she made only two errors. Morlock also averaged 1.36 blocks per game, totaling 15 on the week. She needs nine block assists to take over first place all-time on UA s career block assist list. She stands at 370 career block assists -- 13th all-time in MAC history -- and trails only former UA standout Katie Kuzior, who sits atop the chart with 378 block assists. ADD ANOTHER TO THE 30 DIG CLUB: Ohio freshman Michaele Blackburn posted her first 30-dig match coming up with 36 in a four-game win at Eastern Michigan. Blackburn s total is tied for the fourth highest dig total in the MAC this season and one of 14 performances of 30 or more digs by a MAC player. THE RACE FOR 200 LEAGUE VICTORIES: With three Mid-American Conference victories last week and five so far this season, Ball State head coach Randy Litchfield moved into a tie with Miami s Carolyn Condit for first place in all-time MAC match coaching victories with 194. In 14-plus seasons behind the bench, Litchfield has amassed a (.833) record in regular-season MAC matches. The pair are just six wins shy of becoming the first in league history to break the 200 conference win plateau. BOWLING GREEN NETS WEEKEND SWEEP: With wins over Toledo and Northern Illinois this weekend, Bowling Green earned its first weekend

The win over the Rockets combined with win at Savage Hall earlier this year was the first time BGSU has swept the season-series versus UT since The win over NIU gave Bowling Green its first win over the Huskies since October 14, GLOMBOWSKI FIRST TO 1,000 ASSISTS: Central Michigan setter Shaleene Glombowski is the first MAC setter this season to reach the 1,000 assist mark. Glombowski, who leads the league with 1,054 assists and a assists-per-game average, is also 100 assists from reaching 4,000 for her career. She is 16th in MAC history in career assists (3,900) and is closing in on becoming the 15th setter in league history to reach 4,000. STRONG HITTING ALSO FOR KENT STATE: Kent State recorded a season-best.337 hitting percentage against Miami, including an impressive.416 percent in game one. Jenny Weilert led the attack with a.643 composite while Ruth Ladurner-Schnitzer hit.571. In the 3-0 loss to Ball State, KSU hit.396 in game three and finished with a.274 hitting percentage for the match. After averaging a.202 hitting clip in the first 10 matches, the Golden Flashes have hit better than.270 percent in their last five matches. PAIR OF UB MILESTONES: In its three-game loss to Ball State on Sunday, two Buffalo players reached milestone career kills plateaus with senior Lindsay Matikosh going over the 1,300 mark and senior Alexis Bouie going over the 700 mark. Matikosh recorded a team-high 10 kills against the Cardinals to give her a team-leading 265 kills on the season and 1,307 for her career. She ranks second on UB s all-time career kills list while she also ranks 32nd alltime in MAC history. Bouie recorded eight kills against BSU to give her 171 kills on the season and 707 for her career. SOLID HITTING LEADS BALL STATE: Ball State used a season-high.311 hitting percentage to knock off Kent State 3-0 on the road on Saturday. Melissa Oliver and Kirby Gibson produced career-best hitting percentages of.533 ( ) and.400 (7-1-15), respectively. Sarah Obras posted a then season-best.378 ( ) hitting percentage, which she topped vs. Buffalo 19 hours later. Stacie Baldwin quarterbacked the club with 46 assists, in addition to 12 digs, two kills and a service ace. MOHLER LEADS THE ROCKETS: Junior outside hitter Rachel Mohler has led Toledo in MAC play by averaging 3.69 kills and 4.35 points per game. She helped the Rockets to a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois on Sunday with 16 kills and eight digs. In the match, she served seven straight points vs. the Huskies in game one to bring UT back from deficit and tie the game. Mohler ranks second in the MAC in aces per game (0.56) in overall play and 11th in kills per game in conference matches only. KING LEADS HERD OVER BRONCOS: Marshall s Tracey King had 16 kills and added 16 digs and four blocks to lead the Thundering Herd to a win at Western Michigan. King was one of four Herd players to reach double digits in kills. Nickie Sanlin added 14 kills and hit.575 while Jen Harper and Nicole Michal had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Katie Stein dished out 60 assists, her third match of 60-plus assists in her last four outings. BUROKER CLOSING IN ON TOP TEN: With a team-best 17 solo blocks this season, Miami junior outside hitter Tara Buroker is within five solo blocks of cracking Miami s single-season top 10 chart. Buroker would become the only outside hitter on the list. Buroker collected a career-high three solo blocks at Akron, accounting for over a third of Miami s solo blocks against the Zips. EASTERN MICHIGAN S STREAK ENDS: After winning nine straight and 16 of its first 17 matches, Eastern Michigan dropped three matches last week to Akron, Central Michigan and Ohio. Becky Baltare led the Eagles against the Chippewas with 23 kills and a.410 attack percentage, while Emily Busch had 19 kills versus the Bobcats. Baltare also added 14 kills and 16 digs against Ohio. FISSEL READY TO TOP LAST YEAR: Western Michigan s Shea Fissel is currently third on the Broncos in digs and fourth in kills, and is closing in on bettering her totals from the 2002 season. Fissel, who had 13 kills and 18 digs against Marshall on Saturday, is 17 kills from last year s 162 kills and three digs from her 182 digs picked up as a freshman. THE CHIPPEWAS LIKE OCTOBER: The month of October has been Central Michigan s month the past two years.
