1 MEMORANDUM DATE: November 6 th, 2015 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: MAYOR & COUNCIL MEMBERS DANNY LENZ, CITY MANAGER CITY MANAGER S REPORT Water ERT Replacement Project Notices were sent out this week to the initial batch of residents in the Southeast area of town who will be receiving upgraded Water ERT equipment. This equipment is used to allow Water Utility staff to electronically read water meters, which allows for much faster meter reading that is also more accurate. City staff will be making initial appointments with approximately 50 properties, with the appointments beginning Tuesday, December 1 st. Appointments will typically be made on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No appointments will be made the week of December 21 st 25 th. UPCOMING WASECA LIBRARY EVENTS The Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System is hosting several upcoming events at the Waseca Public Library. The full release for each event is attached, summary information is included below: - Saturday November 7 th to Sunday, November 8 th from 8:00 AM 8:00 AM Local Teens Raising Money for Children s Miracle Network Hospitals: Local teens playing games for 24 hours straight to raise money for the Children s Miracle Network. This year s goal is to raise $1,500. Open to teens ages with parent or guardian signed permission slip and with registration online at - Saturday, November 14 th from 10:00 AM 11:30 AM Lego Club: Elementary-aged kids are invited to join the Waseca Public Library s creative Lego-building club for the October event. Each event has a theme to inspire and Legos to build with. The event is free, but registration is required. Register by calling Wednesday, November 18 th from 2:00 PM 5:00 PM Early Out Event: Duct Tape Fashion Show: Teams will create runway outfits from duct tape and walk the runway with prizes awarded. This is a free event geared for grades K-6. Registration is required by stopping at the Library or calling Thursday, November 19 th at 12:00 PM Pet Fostering: Volunteers from the Waseca County Animal Humane Society will discuss temporary fostering of homeless pets. The event is free and open to the public. - E-Books and OverDrive Classes: Learn how to use OverDrive to get e-books and e-audio for e- readers and smart phones. Classes will take place at the following locations: o Tuesday, November 10th at 3 pm: Waldorf Public Library o Thursday, November 12th at 1 pm: Waterville Public Library o Monday, November 16th at 6:30 pm: New Richland Public Library o Tuesday, November 17th at 3 pm: Le Center Public Library o Wednesday, November 18th at 5 pm: Elysian Area Library o Thursday, November 19th at 6:30 pm: Janesville Public Library o Monday, November 23rd at 6:30 pm: Le Sueur Public Library o Tuesday, November 24 th at 7 pm: Montgomery Public Library

12 WASECA-LE SUEUR REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM 408 N STATE ST * WASECA, MN * Stacy Lienemann, Director FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 30, 2015 Local Teens Raising Money for Children s Miracle Network Hospitals at Waseca Public Library Local teens are playing games for 24 hours straight to help kids. From 8 am on Saturday, November 7th to 8 am on Sunday, November 8th, teens will be playing video games and board games at the Waseca Public Library. Friends and family sponsor the teens for each hour they play. 100% of the money the teens raise will go to benefit kids through Children s Miracle Network Hospitals. This year, Waseca Public Library s goal is to raise $1500. Last year twenty-five teens raised $1000. Donations are tax-deductible. Teens (ages 13-18) who would like to participate will need their parents to sign a permission slip and to register online to be part of the Waseca Public Library team at Started in 2008, Extra Life is a national charitable event.
