One double room available for competitors for up to 4 nights for each of the first five international federations to register Accommodation intended for competitors rather than officials. (If there are less than 3 entries, the category may be cancelled or combined ) NB. This is a non-ranking event using an aqua-float course Boat Nautique model with zero-off Registration & Fees The entry fee is $500 for one discipline (includes both Nationals and Open). $300 (*Juniors born in 2001 or later) for one discipline (includes both Nationals and Open). Only one category per discipline may be entered. Additional $100 is charged per extra discipline entered. Anyone is welcome to enter (See Rules below) All Hong Kong based riders must be HKWSA members in order to join the competition, only holders of Hong Kong Identity Cards will qualify for the Nationals. 2 Practice (To be Confirmed) Masters +45 anyone born in 1972 or earlier PLEASE NOTE ONLY ONLINE ENROLMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Enrolments sent by other means ie WhatsApp, Line Tango etc will be automatically disregarded We only accept Visa/Master Card/PayPal for online payments. Please keep a record of your online payment for future reference. In the event of cancellation of the event prior to the start of competition, due for example to bad weather, entry fees will be refunded to the enrolled skiers through the online payment system. Applications from skiers with outstanding payments from past events will not be accepted unless the skier provides evidence of payment or settles the outstanding amount. Deadlines : Enrolment Starts 14th September :00 noon Enrolment Closes 14 th October :00 midnight. Depending on the number of entries late entries may be considered on payment of a late entry fee at the discretion of the organisers. Familiarisation (practice) Friday 11:00am to 4:00pm (to be confirmed) Booking procedures for practice will be advised later. Each practice run is 4 passes of the slalom course or 3 falls, whichever comes first (subject to amendment at Organiser s discretion depending on demand). After completing 1 practice run, priority will be given to skiers arriving later, subject to the Organiser s discretion. Run Down Friday 11am 4:00pm Familiarisation Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm Slalom & Tricks (1 st & 2 nd Rounds) Sunday 9am 4:00pm Slalom & Tricks (3rd Round & 4th Round) All skiers should be on-site 30 minutes before the start of each category. (Time may be adjusted at the Organiser s discretion depending on time and participant numbers.) Best result from 2 Rounds on Saturday will determine placement in National Championships. Best result from Saturday will be carried forward and added to Sunday s best score to determine Open results. Numbers of entries and conditions will determine whether one or two rounds are held on each day. Rules Getting to Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung Country Park IWWF Asia Slalom Series 2018 and Hong Kong Open & National Waterski Championships Official Rules or otherwise IWWF 2018Tournament Rules will apply subject to the Chief Judge s ultimate discretion. There is no team award. Protest fees any Protest must be accompanied by payment of HK$500, refundable in the event of a successful protest. 1) To Sai Kung Bus Terminus By Bus 92 from Diamond Hill/Choi Hung MTR station; By Bus 299 from Shatin Central, By Bus 792M from Tiu Keng Leng MTR Station; By Mini-bus 1A from Choi Hung MTR Station near Ngau Chi Wan Fire Station; By Bus 96R from Diamond Hill MTR via Sai Kung Bus Terminus (stay on until Pak Tam Chung) 2) To Pak Tam Chung By Bus from Sai Kung Bus Terminus to Pak Tam Chung - Bus #94 (or #96R on Sunday) By Car - From Ma On Shan - head for Sai Kung until you reach the roundabout with directions to Pak Tam Chung; From Sai Kung - head for Ma On Shan until you reach the roundabout and follow road signs to Pak Tam Chung. Take the road to Pak Tam Chung until you reach the barrier of Sai Kung Park. Park your car in the car park on the left.

3 Getting to the ski site from the Park s entrance Bad Weather Arrangements A Shuttle bus will be arranged from the barrier. Otherwise taxis are available from Pak Tam Chung which may enter the restricted area of the Park. Vehicle access is restricted unless holding a permit. Please be warned that in past years, the Police have ticketed drivers who enter the Park illegally. In case of bad weather, please refer to the following tables for various arrangements for different types of weather condition. 4 And What Everyone Should Know The Hong Kong Water Ski Association Ltd, Chong Hing Water Sports Centre and the Leisure and Cultural Services Dept are not liable for any loss or damage to yourself or your belongings. It is your responsibility to safeguard the welfare of any child you bring to the tournament. All judges decision are final, event categories and run down may be adjusted at Organizer s discretion depending on time, weather conditions and participant numbers. The organizer and judges have the right to make appropriate adjustments to the category entered by competitors. If a participant is under 18, their parent / guardian must sign their entry form. Please keep the site clean at all times. Dogs or smoking are not permitted. There will be a member of the HKWSA on duty at all times, please ask if you have any queries. Please respect the instructions given by staff of Chong Hing Water Sports Centre and HKWSA organisers. We do not wish to jeopardise future access to this excellent site. No one can enter the water (even sit in the water), except when it is your turn to compete. The pier at Chong Hing Water Sports Centre is for access only boats should not moor alongside. The Hong Kong National is open to Hong Kong residents who are holding a valid Hong Kong ID card. The Hong Kong Open is open to all competitors irrespective of nationality. 5 IWWF Asia Slalom Series 2018 and Hong Kong Open & National Waterski Championships Official Rules 1. Introduction The event is organised by Hong Kong Waterski a division of Hong Kong Waterski Association Ltd. (HKWSA). 2. General Rules With the exception of the following rules, International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) World Rules will be complied with: rules 2018_V3.pdf All skiers are expected to be familiar with these rules and the relevant IWWF Waterski rules for the divisions that they are competing in. The decision of the judge(s) is final. The Championships will comprise only slalom and shortboard (tricks) subject to entries received. A skier may only enter one category in a discipline. There is no team event. The competition is non ranking, non-record capable except for HKWSA records. 3. Cancellation of Events Divisions with less than 3 skiers may be canceled or merged with other events at the discretion of the organisers. The organisers may also allow the event to continue but awards/prizes may not be presented. 4. Scoring Scoring, with the exception of the starting speeds / rope length, will be based on IWWF rules. 5. Format Hong Kong Nationals Two Round Event: The winner for each division will be the skier with the highest score recorded in either the first or second round of competition on Saturday 27th October (unless affected by weather). IWWF Asia Slalom and Hong Kong Open Four Round Event: The winner for each division will be the skier with the highest score in either the first or second round of competition on Saturday 27 th October carried forward and combined with their best score in the third or fourth round on Sunday 28 th October. Numbers of entries and conditions will determine whether one or two rounds are held on each day at the discretion of the Chief Judge and organisers. Ties: In the event of a tie for first place, there shall be a run off. If a tie does exist for 2nd or 3rd place, placement shall be decided on the basis of the higher score in the previous round. In case of time constraints in the event a tie, if one fall is permitted, the skier without a fall will be the winner 6. Divisions, Starting / Maximum Speeds Division Starting Speed /

One Fall Rule Each skier will be permitted one fall on his first pass only, subject to time. This rule will be communicated to the skiers before the commencement of each round of competition. A fall is defined as:- Falling while skiing through the slalom course Missing a Buoy Missing an Entrance Gate Missing an Exit Gate Should a fall occur, the boat will pick up the skier to repeat the pass in the same direction. The skier will not be picked up after a second fall. The skier s score for that pass will be protected and the skier may improve upon his score. The skier must ski at the same boat speed, same rope length and in the same direction. 8. Tow Lines The skier shall have the option of selecting the starting speed and rope length. If the rope length selected is less than 18.25m and the speed is less than the maximum for the division then the skier will

7 proceed at that rope length until the maximum speed is reached. The skier will be credited with all buoys from each pass waived or skied up to and including his last perfect pass plus the number of buoys scored on his last incomplete pass, if any. When a skier starts with a rope length shorter than 18.25m, for all passes below maximum speed, scoring will be as if the skier had used an 18.25m rope. 9. Gates Entry gates are deemed to have been taken if the judge(s) agree that the skier attempted to pass through the gates. 10. Insurance All overseas riders must provide evidence of personal accident insurance covering competition waterskiing. 11. Obligations Skiers must sign the HKWSA and LCSD form/letter of indemnity and agree to waive all rights to images taken of them during the event. 12. Protests In the event of a protest a HK$500 fee is payable on lodgement of a protest, refundable in the event of a favourable ruling.
