o Regions wanting to emulate the program can contact Scott Davis or Wil Hardy. o Only stipulation is recognizing John as the developer of the program. Al reported Mike Stiles has resigned as Area Coach Administrator. Mike will stay on until the position is filled. Rolando Morales reported on the Freeway Jam. Over 50 teams participated in the tournament. There were a lot of lessons learned for the next year. Al delivered the EXTRA report on Anne Louit s behalf. Transparency is the key requirement. Blue Sombrero and AYSOU (LMS) issues and questions Al would like to generate an Area wide list of issues and questions. o Dave Jones noted his referee certifications aren t coming through in BS. o Lisa Ducharme noted people are having problem with the shopping carts. Al discussed Section PDI materials. Scott noted the rules have evolved to allow the keeper to dribble beyond the Build Out line. Frank also noted teaching the Build Out line in the Regional Referee course adds 30 to 45 minutes to the class. Frank delivered the Treasurer report. See Treasurer report Tom Regan delivered the VIP report Will set up a meeting with all the regional VIP coordinators Al delivered his Area Report Al asked for the All-Star selection process to be placed on the region websites. Al reviewed the RC terms that are expiring this year. Next meeting is 9/28/17. Upper Division playoffs are 11/17 and 11/19. Area League Play Through playoffs are 12/16 and 12/17. 3 REGION REPORTS Region 2 Report: 1. All teams have been formed for the fall season. We are placing the last drops from our waitlist this weekend. 2. We have closed registration for all divisions with the exceptions of VIP and Schoolyard. 3. The region held our referee refresher course last weekend and had over 80 regional referees attended. The purpose was to go over the new rules in the 8, 10 and 12 divisions. 4. First games for all divisions will begin the weekend after Labor Day. 5. We are looking for a good site in which to make coach id cards. BS can make cards but these cards do not include ayso id# and coach certifications. Region 13 Report Our first games of the season will be on Saturday Sept 9 All teams formed; wait lists in almost all divisions. Uniforms and equipment have arrived and will be distributed soon. We've got all of our coaches lined up for all teams; but working hard to close a gap in referees. Classes have been running for the past few weeks in all categories, and will continue. Gearing up for Area play in Upper Division (practices began last week). Get ready for Game Day! Area 1C Meeting Minutes AP.docx Page 3 of 7
Region 40 Report Registration for all divisions is still open. All teams will be this weekend for this season. We are interlocking with other region with the following div. U10 / U12 / U14 Open Ceremony is on 09/09/2017 Season starts on 09/10/2017 We are still have classes for U10 / U12 in the next few weeks Still trying to start VIP Program Region 60 Report: Will start play on September 9th. We will have 80 teams playing plus Schoolyard and VIP. We currently have 895 registered players. This is a 5% drop from 940 players in We currently have 248 verified volunteers (227 green + 21 brown) with 14 pending. This represents a 22% drop from MY2106. We are still having a problem identifying referee volunteers in BS. My referee certifications do not show up as an example. We cancelling practices for this Friday, 9/1, due to excessive heat. Area 1C Meeting Minutes AP.docx Page 4 of 7
Region 88 report: We started games in most divisions 8/19. Everything else starts 9/9. We re at 3,162 players with 25 on the waiting list (mostly BU8 and BU10). All head coaches fully certified, except for two, one of them because of a concussion training issue with BSB. 69 players will be participating in U4. Wilson Middle School turf field is almost a certainty. The Complex Field 1 is also getting a turf field, possibly this fall. Both of the above are 12U. We re offering a Safe Haven clinic this coming Friday, for those of you who are interested in sending your folks to it. Region 98 Report Photo day was last week. We're having a Region 98 night at this Saturday's LA Galaxy game. Teams were formed the first week of August and they've been practicing since the 1st. This past week, we had a division lose some players, which has thrown the player count, per team, off. We are hoping we can replace them quickly. Our schedule was released three days ago. Area 1C Meeting Minutes AP.docx Page 5 of 7
Registration has crept up to over 700, which was pleasing as we were around 600 in July. We are less than 100 from last year. We did lose a lot of known players, within our region, to club teams this year. The season begins September 6 and all teams will have played their first game by the 9th. We are still open for VIP and Playground registrations. Playground begins September 16. Our referee meeting had a strong attendance to discuss the PDI changes. The recent info from Scott helped answer a lot of questions. We're continuing to get more refs take their Intermediate class with the intent of steering them towards Advanced in the years to come. The September 6 game scheduled will be a 10U friendly and will likely have a lot of attention to actually see these new rules and new field and goal sizes in action. All other 10U teams will play a friendly on Sept. 9. Our new goals are arriving next week. I reached out to Ana, from that Inland Empire region that was valdalised, about donating our goals and she said the police were able to catch the thieves and return their goals. Area 1C Meeting Minutes AP.docx Page 6 of 7
Region 214 Region Players registered for fall 61 Player registered for Extra Fields lined Permits in place for matches Picture Day Scheduled No opening day at the moment. Technical training started on 8/1 for U10 U14 divisions Opening Day- Saturday, September 9 th. 167 Registered players with open registrations in all divisions. Looking to interlock one 14U/B, one 10U/G, one 12U/G. Two UD teams- One 19U/B and one 19U/G. Thank you to all the regions and Area 1C for all the support you provide to our region.
