4 APIA LEICHHARDT TIGERS FC The 2016 PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s season was one that won t be remembered very fondly by APIA Leichhardt and its fans. The club, although starting off on the right track failed to live up to the team s high expectations and finished in eighth spot. The Lambert Park faithful have been starved of success and are hoping that 2017 will be the year for their team to rediscover their winning form. However, the pressure will be on and another slow start could have serious repercussions. 5 APIA LEICHHARDT TIGERS FC THE COACH Danial Cummins - Taking over as head coach of the club mid-way through the 2016 season, Danial Cummins displayed flashes of the coaching ability which helped him win the APIA top job. Cummins has climbed his way up the coaching ranks at APIA after a career as a player in the old NSL and is held in high regard in coaching circles. With a full preseason to help get his team playing on the same page expect Cummins to have his APIA side playing a more coherent style. OBJECTIVES Nothing less than challenging for the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s title will be accepted by the top brass at APIA. After a mediocre season in 2016, expectations will be higher than ever at Lambert Park. A top four spot is in the Tiger s sights with a winning start to the season more important than ever. PLAYER TO WATCH Franco Parisi - No man has been as influential at APIA in recent seasons as Tigers midfielder Franco Parisi. The mercurial midfielder has been the heartbeat of the Lambert Park club and that remains the case in Able to turn a game with a few touches of the ball, an in-form Parisi often means success for APIA. Expect big things from the veteran as he sets out to bounce back from a disappointing 2016 season. Only time will tell. RISING STAR Brandon Lundy - Striker Lundy will have his sights set on fighting his way back to the A-League after making three starts at the Newcastle Jets in Only 20 years-old, Lundy failed to turn his impressive performances with the Jets Youth team into a long term deal with the A-League side and he left to join APIA at the end of last season. Capable of playing both up front or on the wing, Lundy has the ability to be one of the competition s most exciting stars. COACHES COMMENTS We are a club with high standards and high expectations with anything short of a top three finish simply not good enough. This offseason we have worked hard at fixing the gaps we had last season and everyone is determined to bring this club back to the top in INS Matthew West (Mounties Wanderers) Josh Symons (Parramatta FC) Luke Turnbull (Parramatta FC) OUTS Nick Olsen (Sydney United 58) Nathan Elasi (Sutherland Sharks) Will it be a case of supporters shouting Too easy for Parisi in 2017? 7 BLACKTOWN CITY FC THE COACH Mark Crittenden enters his seventh season in charge of Blacktown City and hopes to extend his incredible record of success in Crittenden has won five titles in his tenure as Blacktown boss including two PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s championships, a PS4 NPL NSW Premiership, a Waratah Cup and a NPL Australia title. It could be a watershed season for the man known as Critto as he attempts to maintain Blacktown s success despite the departure of five key players. OBJECTIVES As has been the case for the past four season, Blacktown City will have their eye on the prize in the league and cup competitions. While it will be a new look team on the field this time around, City s winning culture means a trophy less season would be considered nothing more than a failure. PLAYER TO WATCH Mitch Mallia will have a bit of extra pressure on his shoulders in 2017 with Blacktown City to lean on the mercurial midfielder more than ever after the departure of big name attackers Travis Major, Patrick Antelmi and Danny Choi. Coach Crittenden said this season expect to see a faster and fitter Mallia who has put in the hard yards during the offseason to cement himself as a true 90 minute player. starting berth in a quality Blacktown team COACHES COMMENTS We have made history with three very successful seasons in a row, however those seasons are now gone and many of the players have moved on. 8 BONNYRIGG WHITE EAGLES FC PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Mens powerhouse Bonnyrigg White Eagles are back in 2017 determined to fight back from their heartbreaking preliminary final defeat last season. Players were left thinking what could've been after Brian Brown s side fought back from a horror start to the season. While they are focused on hitting the ground running from round one, the White Eagles will enter this season already battling an injury crisis at the club with Milan Susak, Aaron Peterson, Ben Spruce, James Chronopoulous and Asmir Kadric all featuring on the injured list. Brown has promised a tougher Bonnyrigg team this season, and if they can hold out until their stars are healthy, 2017 could be the White Eagles year. 9 BONNYRIGG WHITE EAGLES FC THE COACH Brian Brown - The man known as Bomber is regarded by many as the gold standard of coaching in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Mens competition. Entering his ninth season in charge of the White Eagles, Brown is determined to rediscover the consistency which has led his side to silverware in five of the past seven seasons. OBJECTIVES Bonnyrigg has all eyes on the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW title. After a lean season in 2016, the White Eagles are determined to fight their way back to the top of the pile. Consistent results has been the mantra from Brian Brown and Bonnyrigg is expected to once again be one of the main contenders this season. PLAYER TO WATCH Ray Miller - Bonnyrigg will rely on Miller to pull the strings in midfield once again this season. A slick passer of the ball and creator from the centre of the park, Miller has made the central midfield position his own. Miller played a major role in Bonnyrigg's second half turnaround last season and will once again be the man leading the charge in COACHES COMMENTS This year the old Bonnyrigg is back. In recent seasons we have probably given away points at home more often than we should. It will be a different story this season and our players are going to make coming to play against Bonnyrigg one of the toughest away matches in the league. - Bonnyrigg coach Brian Brown INS Zac Mackenzie (Wollongong Wolves) Troy Danaskos (Wellington Phoenix) Milan Susak (Yangon United, Myanmar) OUTS Robbie Younis (Retired) Nikola Zonjic (Retired) Yuta Kokado Ken Chun (Blacktown City) RISING STAR Stevan Savicic could be a breakout year for Bonnyrigg s 19-year-old shot stopper. Savicic will take the mantle of starting goalkeeper for the opening rounds of the season from James Chronopolous who is still recovering from a broken leg. What Savicic lacks in experience, he makes up for in raw talent. With the support of experienced coaches Brian Brown and Jose Bello Amigo, Savicic is expected to continue his rapid development as a goalkeeper and make his mark as a starting player in this league MEDIA GUIDE PLAYSTATION 4 NPL NSW MEN S

10 HAKOAH SYDNEY CITY EAST FC Hakoah Sydney City East exceeded expectations as the new boys on the scene during the 2016 PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s season. 11 HAKOAH SYDNEY CITY EAST FC THE COACH Assistant coach Gavin Rae has taken the reigns from 2016 Hakoah head coach Mark Robertson and is determined to build on the side s impressive showing from last season. Despite the coaching change, the former Scottish International will stick to a similar style of stodgy defence and quick counter attacks. Rae has promised a few new wrinkles to their offence this season as the eastern suburbs boys set out to once again shock the competition big guns. OBJECTIVES Improvement is the most important thing for Hakoah this season. Rae has set out to go better than the ninth placed finish of Hakoah were often the competition s surprise packets last time around, however they won t have that luxury during their second season in the top flight. PLAYER TO WATCH Anthony Bouzanis - Hakoah is banking on a big year from Young Socceroos and former Sydney FC shot stopper Anthony Bouzanis. The 21-year-old has the same expectations of himself. With aspirations of a return to the Hyundai A-League, Bouzanis is determined to fulfil his huge potential. Brother of current keeper Dean Bouzanis at Melbourne City, Anthony is hoping follow in his brother s footsteps. RISING STAR COACHES COMMENTS We have a squad full of hungry young lads who have every chance to succeed. 12 MANLY UNITED FC Last year was one of Manly United FC's best in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW competition. Third in the league and a Waratah Cup final represented a huge improvement and reward for Paul Dee's hard work with the side. A late coaching change will present its own challenges, with Dee unable to coach due to work commitments, but he leaves interim coach and technical director Warren Grieve with a fantastic squad to work with. 13 MANLY UNITED FC THE COACH Warren Grieve is a late call-up to the coaching job, even on an interim basis, but do not be fooled, he is a coach with great pedigree. A former Technical Director for ACT Capital Football and one of Football Federation Australia's go-to coaches for delivering advanced coaching courses, Grieve knows his stuff. Manly plan to make a more permanent appointment once the season is underway, but Grieve will be the man in charge until such an appointment occurs, while also serving as Manly's Technical Director. OBJECTIVES After an almost meteoric rise last season, Manly United will be keen to build on the platform provided by Paul Dee. The loss of Richie Cardozo will hurt Manly, but Dylan Macallister and former Blacktown City star Sasa Macura bring plenty of quality to a squad who will be desperate to make a real tilt at the Championship this season. PLAYER TO WATCH One almost feels that Sasa Macura never got the credit he deserved at Blacktown City, such was the amount of talent available at Lily's Football Centre. At Manly, Macura joins a similarly talented squad, but he will be expected to lead from the middle of the park and prove his qualities as one of the league's best players. RISING STAR Twenty-four-year-old Matthew Fletcher might no longer be the promising teenager who worked his way through the youth ranks at Premier League outfit Hull City, but with his return to the state leagues complete with his signing at Manly, Fletcher will be looking to prove that he deserves a return to the A-League. Fletcher made seven appearances for the Central Coast Mariners this season before his release, and he remains with just seven senior league appearances to his name, but he will be looking to make his mark at Manly. COACHES COMMENTS " It was an incredibly successful year last year. Coming into the club as a new Technical Director, it was great to see whole club doing well and there is a clear direction from top to bottom. The goal for first grade is to emulate last year in terms of being up there and fighting for a spot in the finals. Despite the late coaching change, the boys have been tremendous, Paul has done some fantastic work in recruiting and being able to retain the nucleus of the squad, add that to the quality we already have." 14 PARRAMATTA FC Finals football has eluded Parramatta FC for some time now, but coach Franco Consentino will be determined to make it happen in The former National Soccer League heavyweights narrowly survived a relegation scrap in 2015 before showing solid signs of improvement in 2016 and now the Eagles will be hoping to build on that once again. 15 PARRAMATTA FC THE COACH Following his appointment in 2014, Parramatta FC coach Franco Consentino has had to learn the hard way that there are no easy games in the PS4 National Premier Leagues New South Wales Men s elite division. Finals football has alluded him thus far, but Consentino s team have always had the potential to surprise. Now, as one of the league s longest-serving coaches, Consentino will want to turn Paramatta s surprise potential into consistent results. OBJECTIVES It has been a case of baby steps for Parramatta FC over the last couple of seasons, but don t let last season s tenth place finish fool you. Following the narrow escape from relegation in 2015, a tenth place finish was a solid sign of improvement and despite the final position, Consentino and Co. were just four points off playing finals football. In 2017, finally bridging that gap and taking a spot in the finals has to be the objective. PLAYER TO WATCH Marco Sama, the youngest of the trio of Sama brother playing at the club this season, remains one of the club s most exciting talents. Last season, he proved his perchance for the spectacular with his Round 20 strike, that was deservedly voted Goal of the Week and was a strong contender for Goal of the Season, and he will hope to deliver similar moments of magic next season. RISING STAR Marcus Donatiello will be looking to take the next step in his career following his move to Parramatta FC from Marconi. The youngster played five senior games last season as he impressed during his 20 under-20 appearances and he will be looking to build on that under coach Consentino in COACHES COMMENTS I think the whole project has come along nicely since I took over four years ago, the whole club has been pulling in the same direction. The first year we got promoted, the second year we survived and then last year we improved again. We weren t that far off the finals pace last year, and we ve bought in some real quality this year, so hopefully we can break into that top half of the table. 16 ROCKDALE CITY SUNS FC In 2017, with the additions of former Socceroo and Western Sydney Wanderers goalkeeper Ante Covic, and the likes of Harris Gaitatzis and Brayden Sorge, this might finally be that year. 17 ROCKDALE CITY SUNS FC THE COACH Now in his second full season with the Suns since taking over from Branko Culina midway through 2015, Reid says he never had any intention of hanging up the boots ahead of the new season. " I feel I can still contribute on the playing side of things and when I feel I'm not, I'll stop playing. My assistant coach Matt [Ribarovski] and I spoke about it and he told me he'll definitely tell me when that time comes. OBJECTIVES There is no denying a sense of slight frustration in Reid's voice when he speaks about the club's A strong opening half to the season was undone by a terrible run of form midway through the season and in a competition with teams as strong as Blacktown City FC and Sydney United 58 FC such a drop is unacceptable for a team dreaming of a minor premiership and beyond. Reid has made no secret that silverware remains the goal this season. PLAYER TO WATCH It is not often that goalkeepers are looked upon to inspire a new level from a team but that is exactly what Rockdale will be hoping the acquisition of Ante Covic can achieve just that. Reid says his mere presence has already inspired Suns' other senior shot-stopper David Bradasevic to take his game to a new level as he looks to retain his number one spot. If that can sweep the entire firstteam, it could bring about the consistency Reid so desperately seeks. RISING STAR James Temelkovski arrives at Rockdale City Suns after a strong season with Sydney United 58 FC in the under-20 competition last season. The striker scored six goals in 21 games as an under-age 20s player last season and impressed Reid at the Maso Cup. He faces a tough time to get into the first team, but could be one to look out for if he does. COACHES COMMENTS "We have recruited really well; I think we have a stronger team than last season. We were disappointed with fourth last year and this season we are aiming to finish top and the players' mentality is the same as well." 18 SUTHERLAND SHARKS FC Sutherland Sharks FC have been a solid outfit in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW over recent years, but there is a sense of impatience around Seymour Shaw heading into The Sharks are hungry for post-season football in 2017 and with coach Carlos Villazon set for his second season in charge, the club is hoping for an improvement on 2016's seventh-placed finish. 19 SUTHERLAND SHARKS FC THE COACH Carlos Villazon is entering his second season at the Sharks, with the coach being credited for being a new energy and style to the Sharks in The transition has not been without hiccups, but the Sharks shown signs of improvement under Villazon. Defence will remain his major concern after the Sharks conceded 40 goals in 22 games last season however will rely on the experience of their big defender Nick Littler who had a sterling year. OBJECTIVES If the Sharks can add goals to their possession-based football and add some defensive steel to their game, then there is no reason to think that Villazon's men cannot go deep into the finals this season. That will surely be the objective for a team representing one of the biggest footballing areas of the country and hungry for recognition in any upcoming Hyundai A-League expansion talks. Having pinched Nathan Elasi back to the Shire as well as the exciting Kevin Lopes from Hakoah Sydney City East, the thirst for goals may roll through with these two key men. PLAYER TO WATCH Tomohiro Kajiyama established himself as a firm fan favourite at Seymour Shaw in his debut season with the Sharks and after a year acclimatizing to his new surrounds, he will be aiming to take the competition by storm this season. RISING STAR Chris McStay managed to make 20 first-team appearances last season and the young midfielder is highly-rated within the Sharks setup as he hopes to build on a strong 2016 and drive the Sharks drive up the table from midfield in COACHES COMMENTS " I think Carlos' vision is great and this season he wants to improve the transition moments in the game. We are trying to play a proactive and entertaining type of football that is possession-based. We've had a bit pre-season and the players are ready, we want to have a big season." 20 SYDNEY FC The Hyundai A-League side s best young stars are the new team on the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s block and they arrive with a big target on their back. While player development is the primary focus for coach Robbie Stanton s youth side, the fact they carry the Sydney FC name will have the other 11 PS4 NPL NSW teams desperate to put them in their place. 21 SYDNEY FC THE COACH Not many coaches know the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s competition like Sydney FC coach Robbie Stanton. The Sky Blues boss will lean on more than six years of experience coaching in the state league top flight which included an extremely successful stint as Sutherland Sharks coach. Stanton knows how to win at this level and will help his young squad match up with the competition s best. OBJECTIVES While the priorities might be a little different for Sydney FC than the rest of the PS4 NPL NSW Men s league, it doesn't mean Stanton s side won t be playing to win. Youth development and preparing players for a potential jump to the Hyundai A-League team is of primary importance for Stanton and as a result expect plenty of players to get game time throughout the season. Take for instance the recent inclusion into Graham Arnold s high flying Sky Blues senior squad who only recently announced the signing of young gun striker Charles Lokolingoy. Despite this, Sydney FC dominated the PS4 NPL NSW Men s 2 competition last season and were narrow losers in this year s National Youth League grand final. Zuvela is the fulcrum from which Sydney FC operate and his influence has played a big role in his side s success. National representative honours with the Australia Under-19 team has seen Zuvela, a former Sydney United 58 junior, take his game to another level and his growth will only continue in the PS4 NPL NSW Men s competition. RISING STAR Will Mutch - Sydney FC s most experienced player at PS4 NPL NSW Men s level despite being only 19 years-old. Mutch broke through at Blacktown Spartans in 2015 and, after a gallant performance in a struggling Spartans side last season, has moved on to the Sky Blues to further his career. Originally a wing-back with electrifying pace, Mutch has since been converted to a striker. A dangerous player when in-form and will help his team mates adapt to playing in the PS4 NPL NSW Mens competition. COACHES COMMENTS This year will be another step in quality for the players and will put them up against tougher competition than they ve faced in recent years. The PS4 NPL NSW Mens 2 was a good starting point but this time we need to be better in all areas. I m confident we have what it takes to be competitive. - Robbie Stanton The team has the taste for victory and they will be out to extend their winning form. 22 SYDNEY OLYMPIC FC Regular PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men's contenders Sydney Olympic FC finished in unfamiliar territory in 2016 with a sixth-place finish. That was enough to guarantee finals, but Olympic is not a club content with top-half finishes. Olympic is a club that wants to win. New coach Jamie Monroy Zamith has arrived with the mandate of bringing success back to Olympic, a club steeped in history and Championships, and with a host of new recruits joining him, the Portuguese coach is hoping to make his debut season in Australia a memorable one. 23 SYDNEY OLYPMIC FC THE COACH Whether it is his foreign allure or the fact that he has worked in academy set-ups for the likes of European Giants AC Milan and Barcelona, there is little doubting that Jamie Monroy inspires the most intrigue of all the coaches ahead of the upcoming season. Monroy arrives with high expectations in unfamiliar surrounds and he will hope that his vast coaching experience translates to success with the senior set-up at Olympic. OBJECTIVES Monroy has made no secrets about his objectives for Sydney Olympic this season. He wants his team to win, but do not mistake his lofty ambitions for complacency. Monroy knows his team is in for a tough battle to win the league, but he hopes to create an environment and a tactical style that will allow his team to flourish. PLAYER TO WATCH Fresh out of the Hyundai A-League setup, Max Burgess will be looking to stamp his authority on the Sydney Olympic midfield this season. Monroy has been impressed with the midfielder in pre-season and the former Sydney FC player will be hopeful of turning that into consistent form once the real business starts. Max will be joined by his brother Darcy as well. He also returns to the competition after spending some time with the Rockdale City Suns before moving to the Sky Blues Youth set-up. RISING STAR Radovan Pavicevic arrives at Sydney Olympic hungry to prove himself after his short stint in the Hyundai A-League with the Newcastle Jets. The striker scored just once in 17 Hyundai A-League games during the season in the top flight, but at just 21, Pavicevic will feel he still has plenty to offer. Having seen what returning to goalscoring form in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men's competition has done for the likes of Blake Powell before him, Pavicevic will be hoping he can fire Olympic to the ultimate success this season. COACHES COMMENTS "I think it is normal for any new coach to come in and be quite ambitions. I have already said the ultimate goal is win the league, but I know that this will not be easy. I say this to make sure we are motivated to go as far as we can. Pre-season has gone very well and I think the guys who have come in have added some real quality to the squad. I am happy with the progress we are making." 24 SYDNEY UNITED 58 FC It was a year for the record books at Sydney United 58 in A PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Premiership title, a PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Australia title and victory in the Waratah Cup were all won by the boys from Edensor Park in a season of incredible football. However, the side s grand final defeat to Blacktown City will cut deep as United enter the 2017 season. With a new coach and fresh from a week of preparing for the upcoming season with global football big spenders Shanghai Shenhua in China, Sydney United 58 will be determined to take their game to an all new level led by new skipper Nick Stavroulakis. 25 SYDNEY UNITED 58 FC THE COACH After an eight year apprenticeship coaching through the grades at Sydney United 58, Davor Bajsic has been the man to replace Mark Rudan after the veteran coach stepped down to take up a role as assistant coach with the Young Socceroos. Bajsic s time working his way up the ranks at the club, as well as a 15- year career as a player predominately in Croatia s top league. Bajsic has pledged to follow a similar blueprint to the one which found Rudan so much success in his time at United, but believes his unique approach can help the team improve this season. Rudan has left a big mark at Sydney United 58 and the pressure will be on Bajsic to do the same. OBJECTIVES Defeat in last season s grand final still hurts for Sydney United 58 s players. On the cusp of a record four titles in a season, Rudan s side fell short at the final hurdle. The pain of last season is something Bajsic will try to build on with Sydney United 58 s passionate fans always demanding success. A trophy less season won t tolerated at the club and Bajsic will have his players hungrier than ever to win. PLAYER TO WATCH Panny Nikas - Arguably the most talented player in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s competition, Nikas is a dream to watch and on his day can win a match single handedly. Capable of splitting defences with a perfectly placed pass or skilled dribble, Sydney United 58 s mercurial attacker will once again play a vital role in his team s success. RISING STAR Thomas Manos - One of the unheralded heroes of Sydney United 58 s incredible 2016 season. The young shot stopper was a revelation between the sticks and played a big part in his side s league best defensive record. After a season training with Sydney FC and playing in the National Youth League, Manos returns to Sydney United Sports Centre better than ever and ready to take his game to another level with the hope of bagging a full time Hyundai A-League contract as well. COACHES COMMENTS We have been working hard from day one. The players are committed and motivated to play the best possible football. After our match against Shanghai Shenhua I know Sydney United 58 has a team which will challenge for the title. - Davor Bajsic. 26 WOLLONGONG WOLVES FC The A-League has been on the agenda for much of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW off-season for the Wollongong Wolves, as the former National Soccer League heavyweights jostles for position in the latest round of expansion. But don't let that fool you. 27 WOLLONGONG WOLVES FC THE COACH Entering his third full season as senior coach, Jacob Timpano, a former Wolves player himself, is establishing himself as one of the country's best young coaching talents. In his first season, Timpano led the Wolves to an unlikely finals campaign and while 2016 proved a much tougher season for him and his players, the 31-year-old is raring to go in Who knows, the A-League might just beckon for him next. OBJECTIVES After a strong recruitment drive headlined by the signing of former Blacktown City FC star Patrick Antelmi - in the off-season and some better luck on the injury front over pre-season, finals should really be the minimum objective for Timpano and Co. From there, anything can happen in finals. A potential championship dark horse perhaps? PLAYER TO WATCH Patrick Antelmi was arguably the crown jewel in a Blacktown City side that has dominated the league in recent seasons. He left the club with two Championships and a Premiership to show for his goalscoring play-making efforts and he will be looking to headline the Wolves charge to the title this season. RISING STAR COACHES COMMENTS There is a lot of talent in our squad, we've bought some good players in. I think Patrick [Antelmi] probably headlines that, but I think his addition shows how well the club is travelling and I'm definitely hoping for a strong season this time around. The A-League talk around the club is exciting, but we've got a job to do in the NPL first, and that's what we're focused on." INS Patrick Antelmi (Blacktown City) Steve Hayes (Sutherland Sharks) Michael Robinson (Bonnyrigg White Eagles) Hayden Morton (Blacktown Spartans) Ben Tosi (Blacktown Spartans) Hristijan Tanoski (Rockdale City Suns) Luke Kairies (Mounties Wanderers) Yuzo Tashiro (Cerezo Osaka) OUTS Zac McKenzie (Bonnyrigg White Eagles) Kota Kawase (Asia) Ricky Zucco (Illawara PL) Ben Zucco (Illawarra PL) Daniel Collision (Vic NPL) Danny Lazarevski (Illawarra PL) Fresh out of the National Youth League system with the Western Sydney Wanderers, Josh McDonald will feel he has plenty to prove with the Wollongong Wolves this season. The youngster comes highly rated but starved of senior opportunities and he will be looking to make a big impact on the competition with the Wolves as he seeks a return to the A-League MEDIA GUIDE PLAYSTATION 4 NPL NSW MEN S
