Firsts Stumble Against Prospect Report submitted by the Hakoah Feds Committee. With a depleted squad, this week was always going to be a struggle for the Feds First Grade, as they came up against 3 rd placed Prospect United. However, it seemed that the new look side would not be troubled, as they came together quickly to open the scoring within the first minutes of the game. A quick passing move found Rani Rimmer, who finished calmly to put Hakoah 1-0 up. Following this, Hakoah remained in control, with Rimmer hitting the cross bar in the 12 th minute. Jamie Watt also had a couple of chances, but was unable to beat the keeper. In control and cruising, Hakoah were stunned in the 25 th minute, when a mix-up at the back gifted Prospect an equaliser. This seemed to take the wind out of Hakoah, who fell into an unusual slow tempo game that suited Prospect. Coming out of the sheds, Hakoah remained the dominant side, but were unable to find a winner. Chances were created, but these were not converted in a rare display of wastefulness. The match ended 1-1, which were the first points dropped by Hakoah all season. The Feds First Grade still sit 1 st on the ladder.

The Reserve Grade stormed to a 4-1 victory over Prospect. In a dominant performance, the side went 1-0 up in the 1 st minute after Nathan Schwartz broke through to score.

In a tough first half, Hakoah held their own to go into the sheds 2-2. Saul Oberstein and Gidon Zimmerman had found the net in an action packed first period. Unfortunately the boys were unable to match the intensity and work rate of St. George, falling to a 2-4 defeat. Under 14 The Under 14s fell to a 1-2 loss to St. George in a tight match. The Under 15s were victims of a game of two halves, as they put on a showcase of attacking football in the first period, only to fall away in the second. Coming out of the half-time sheds 0-0, with Hakoah the better side, the boys were outrun by the league leaders, who went up a gear in the second half. The match ended 0-4, with the side desperate to make amends this week against Stanmore in their catch up match.

Meanwhile, the Golden Glove is starting to look like First Grade s Terry Dal Broi s, as he still comfortably leads the ladder. Here are the rules for both awards: The player who scores the most goals across ALL seven Hakoah Feds teams is the winner. The goalkeeper who concedes the least amount of goals in the season, across ALL seven Hakoah Feds teams, based on the number of games played, is the winner. The Feds Committee reserves the right to adjust the criteria once they receive all the feedback from the coaches. The winners will receive $500 worth of sports equipment thanks to Victor Sports. If there is a tie, the award will be split. This includes if there are two goalkeepers in one team, who will then share the prize. Here are the current tables for both awards. 8 7 U18 Harry Rosen Awards of the Week Player of the Week: In a controversial match, Under 18 Sam Wrublewski put in a brilliant performance, netting a hat-trick to ensure his side stormed home to a 4-1 victory over St. George. Wrublewski was on song twice from the penalty spot, while also adding another from open play. Following this performance, Wrublewski backed up for the depleted Reserve Grade squad, coming off the bench and winning a penalty for the side. For two dominant performances back to back, Wrublewski is this week s Player of the Week. Under 18 Sam Wrublewski in action last season. Blunder of the Week: In an unusually quiet week for us in the Blunder department, there was one clear stand out for this week s award. After receiving a pass just in the opposition half, Reserve Grader Zac Rabin sublimely hit a through ball, with one touch, that sent young gun Jacob Esposito down the right flank.

Esposito beat his man, before crossing to an unmarked Rabin, who had made a 40 metre sprint after supplying the delicate through ball. With the goalkeeper stranded, Rabin had an open-goal beckoning.

For starting such a brilliant move, followed by such a shocking effort in front of goal, Rabin is this week s Blunder winner. Reserve Grade s Zac Rabin is the winner of this week s Blunder Award. The Upcoming Week This week the Feds Opens are up against Bathurst 75 on 7 th July 2012 at Alec Lamberton Field, Oberton Rd, Kelso.
