Last week s win against Sydney United 58 has kept us well in the race for finals and we re hoping the boys back up with another excellent performance this week to get a crucial three points heading into the last game of the season. As this is our last home game of the regular season, we would like to give a big thanks to our sponsors and corporate partners who have provided immense support during our season and have made this year possible for us. We would also like to thank our loyal members of the Sydney Olympic family who come to each and every game to support the club. A huge congratulations goes out to our First Grade Women, who claimed the Premiership last Sunday with a convincing 5-0 victory over Gladesville Ravens. We are extremely proud of them and their success this year, and very We are very happy with the progress we have made this season, regardless of the results. We set out with a plan to develop our youth and help players progress to be the best players they can be, and we have made great strides in achieving this. We are constantly working to elevate the club and to introduce new and exciting ways to foster a culture of professionalism and development at Sydney Olympic and this is something you will continue to see in years to come. I would like to take this opportunity to pass the club s condolences to the family of Les Murray who tragically passed away on Monday. Les, an Olympic Hall of Fame legend, was a pillar of the Australian Football community and a loyal and valued member of the Sydney Olympic family. He will be sorely missed. We will be observing a one minute silence before our match today in Les honour and we hope you will continue to remember the great contributions he has made to Football, as we are sure his legacy will live on for years to come. 5 NPLNSW.COM.AU MATCH FIRST GRADE Sydney Olympic FC will hope to avoid a late season hiccup when the take on Waratah Cup Champions Hakoah Sydney City East on Sunday. Hakoah has proven they are not easy beats and will give Olympic one hell of a contest. Fifth placed Sydney Olympic need a win to stay in the top five but Hakoah will be doing everything in their powers to upset the party. Olympic claimed their first win in weeks last round and will hope to make it back to back victories on Sunday. Hakoah were lucky to avoid a shock defeat against bottom side Parramatta FC in Round 20 with a narrow 1-0 win. With a FFA Cup Round of 16 clash on the horizon, coach Gavin Rae will want to push his Hakoah side over the final two league matches. 6 FIRST GRADE #PS4NPLNSW Sydney United 58 FC 1 - Sydney Olympic FC 2 at Sydney United Sports Centre Yu Kuboki s late winner has blown the race for the top five wide open after Sydney Olympic edged Sydney United in an intense PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s affair at Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon. The Japanese attacker notched his 11th strike of the campaign with ten minutes remaining to seal a landmark victory for Gorka Etxeberria s side and propel Olympic into fifth position on the ladder. Olympic had earlier broke the deadlock through a neat Christopher Gligor header but were pegged back two minutes later when Chris Payne tucked away a Matt Sim cross at the far post. Kuboki stepped off the bench at half time to spearhead an excellent second half performance from the visitors and eventually swept home the winner in style after a brilliant assist from Olympic defender Mitchell Stamatellis. The victory gifts Spanish custodian Etxeberria his first win as Olympic boss and snaps a run of three consecutive defeats for the unfancied visitors, who needed all three points on the day to keep their season alive. Hakoah Sydney City East 1 - Parramatta FC 0 at Hensley Athletic Field Hakoah Sydney City East edged out a spirited Parramatta FC side 1-0 at Hensley Athletic Field on Saturday, with a controversial free kick midway through the second half settling the match. After dominating the opening period of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men s clash without a breakthrough, Dean Bereveskos put the hosts into a deserved lead in the 74th minute with a free kick which was initially flagged for offside by the linesman, handing Parramatta FC their 14th straight defeat. It was a disappointing result for Parramatta who felt they had done enough to end their run of losses but Hakoah s incredible fighting spirit did enough to wrap up the points. 6

8 FEATURE STORY VALE #PS4NPLNSW Football NSW is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Australian iconic legend, Mr Football, Les Murray today. Les was one of Australian Football s finest ambassadors and advocates and his countless hours and relentless efforts promoting football across Australia, from grassroots to the elite, will stand both unequalled and forever admired. Les love for football and his long legacy of contribution towards it will be long live in the memory of everyone not only at Football NSW, but the entire football community across Australia. Football NSW Chairman Anter Isaac paid tribute to the man that put this sport on the map in Australia. To many people, Les was football. I, like so many football fans, grew up watching Les on SBS promote football, and especially Australian football, daily. And along with his good friend, Johnny Warren, continued to protect Australian football, its clubs, players and coaches, when others simply could not or would not. For his courage and unquestioned loyalty to football, we will be indebted, and Les has left us all an incredible benchmark to carry on his work and commitment in the years to come. Football NSW would like to pass on its deepest condolences to the Murray family. LES MURRAY May he rest in heavenly peace. 8
