13 Under 8B s COACH: Ben Bruzgulis MANAGER: Candice Bruzgulis Current Position: 6 th Lost to Yarrawarrah Tigers Match Reports (continued) The kids were keen to be back at the Chookpen this week. We always lift for our home games, and today was no different. Reagan started our attack on fire and was launching himself at the tigers defence. This also gave the other boys plenty of confidence and the game was on. Levi was ready to go at dummy-half and Blake, Archie, Jack and Jackson all ran the ball strong and made good metres. Tackling was a standout as well with Jayden, Harry and Harley all giving it a red-hot go. We kept with the tigers all game, but were just pipped at the end to a runaway try to put it out our reach. We did shoot ourselves a little in the game by running out 4 times over the sideline, but all the boys were attacking and were a chance of making a good break through the line. What can you do, the little champions tried their guts out. Another chance for us again this week, up at the Chookpen so let s train hard and hopefully finish off the season with a victory. Good work kiddos and go the chooks. 15 Under 11B s COACH: Drew Blackman MANAGER: Phil Blackman Current Position 8 th Lost to Taren Point Titans Tries to Liam & Cooper G Goals JB Match Reports (continued) I said the week before was our best performance of the year, well this one topped that. Again the score didn t indicate the way we played. Great defensive efforts from Luke, Connor, Liam, Tycen and Jordy, seen us start to realise we can match these teams. Cooper G was back to his old self in defence tackling everything that moved. Our moving up also improved with Harry leading from the front. JB again was tough in attack taking to the bigger Pointers. Gus and Riley also showed great working backing up our bigger boppers. We have started to do the small things right like getting up in the face of the opposition and cutting their thinking time down. Thanks to Bailey, Gus and Connor for playing up and helping us out This Weeks Game Menai Roosters versus Cronulla Caringbah Saturday 8 th 12:20 Cronulla High School Proud Sponsors of the Under 11 s
16 Under 12C s COACH: Brett Love MANAGER: Rod Fuller Current Position: 4 th Won 16-6 over Gymea Gorillas Match Reports (continued) Well boys, what a game, no doubt your best game of the year so far. Your performance as a team was tough, gritty and determined, a real joy to watch. All of you stepped up and showed real commitment that will serve you well in future games. It was a tough game, solid defence from both sides, neither prepared to give an inch and it took until the 17th minute before WILL broke the deadlock, bursting through their defence to score our first try. COREY potted it over the dot to bag the extra 2 and we went into the break 6 0. After the break, we kept up the pressure on them and took everything they tried to throw at us. RYAN broke through in the 35th minute to score our second try and grabbed the extra 2 to take us out to a 12 point lead. Gymea came back with 2 minutes to go to score in the corner and covert to make the final score A tough game and a well-deserved win. Brett and I, Steve and Jan, as well as all the parents are very proud of how well you all played. Each and every player contributed to the win..some of the highlights were:- BIG WILL, BIG RUNS, BIG METRES and BIG DEFENCE. BAILEY, good strong runs & offloads mate, keep those legs pumpin! KEV and CHRISTIAN, great defence keep it up. BLAYNE, RILEY and COREY, fantastic tackling guys and great attacking runs. BRODIE, great aggressive defence and that tackle where you took on their winger and took him into touch saving a try is probably the best tackle I have ever seen you do, top job mate. NATHAN, fast accurate passing, remember your passing starts every play, good work, keep it up. MITCHELL and TYCEN, Brett s pests! our markers, kept getting in their faces, annoying them, tackling everything that moves its great to watch boys, well done. JB, never say die attitude, great tackling and attacking runs, fantastic efforts mate, keep bringin it. COOPER and RYAN, while the forwards might be the engine room of the team, you guys steer where they and the team go, great plays, good calls in attack and great reading of the defence. Only 1 game to go in the regular season, so keep up this level of effort and who knows how far you guys can go this year!! 17 Under 15B s COACH: Bryan Ratcliffe COACH: Darren Ratcliffe MANAGER: Jodie Hendley Current Position 3 rd Won over Gymea Gorillas Match Reports (continued) Congratulations to the team for a very gutsy and determined win against a team who is above us on the ladder. We have been setting the benchmark in this comp for our defensive attitude and the other teams have had to lift their aggression to try and match us. This is exactly what Gymea did on the weekend and we saw a great game where defensive hits from one side were matched by the other. Our starts have been letting us down and we worked on that during the week and made it our focus on the weekend. The boys did not leak any points in the opening 15 mins & then took the lead at 6-0 thanks to a great try to Ryan. Gymea responded to tie it up and instead of dropping their heads, the boys responded with a great try to Alex (I was told later that this was his first try in 4 years - sensational ) to take the lead and hold on to it for the rest of the game. Every time Gymea got close we responded, held our nerve and ended up being the dominant team. We have now beaten Gymea on the last two occasions which is great heading into the semis in 2 weeks time. Man of the match went to Zac Cepuran in his second game at half. Zac was composed under pressure, ran the ball well making several incisive runs when we needed it and defended well in the middle. Ryan picked up 2 points again this week and continues to improve as the right end of the season. Ben was smashed on quite a few occasions but each time he bounced back with hits and runs of his own to earn 1 point. A special mention to Nathan at 5/8 who is also starting to open up the opposition with some great runs. We have DLS this weekend at home who are undefeated. We have previously drawn with them and shared the points in the second half on a couple of occasions, so we know we can compete with them. The boys need to start well and not give this team a head start as we have done in the last 2 games against them.
