1 Race for Education UPDATE! Dear Parents/Guardians, Our Race for Education will take place on Tuesday, October 23 rd! A fun time is planned for ALL our students. All students will participate in this event. This is a walking event; therefore, students will not be counting laps. They will be walking in the new parking lot. We will be LIVE on Fox 29 Good Day Philadelphia with Bob Kelly during his Kelly s Classroom segment. Please set you DVR to record the day! We will be live around 9:35 am to 9:45 am this is an approximate time, so I would suggest recording from 9 am to 10 am just to be safe. Here are the details for the day: All students will be walking together this year. The younger grades will be walking with their buddies similar to the Halloween Parade. This is so that all of our students will have the opportunity to possibly be on TV at some point during the walk. Students will begin walking at 9:30 am and remain walking until about 10:00 am and 10:15 am. We will have also have a DJ during our event as well. For the safety of all our children, if you plan to come watch the walk, we ask that you stay in the designated viewing area. Those viewing the walk WILL NOT be able to walk with the students and need to remain in the designated areas. We ask anyone coming for the day, to please DO NOT park on Carroll Ave. but to please park in the main parking lot. The new parking lot will be closed to cars. If you are volunteering to help this day, we ask for you to please enter through the main doors of the school, sign in with the main office and receive your volunteer sticker. All volunteers will be taken outside and given your placement for during the race. Please arrive by 9:15 am. We are also asking those volunteering to stay after the race to help separate popsicles for the students if you are available. ATTIRE FOR THE DAY: Students may wear gym or spirit wear for the day. Please also dress appropriately for the weather predicted for the morning. Also, please have the students wear appropriate sneakers to walk. ALL STUDENTS will receive a popsicle at some point during the day, generously donated by Dr. Frank Batastini. All students will also receive a bottle of water, generously donated by Fastenal and our parent Mr. Ryan Mulligan. We will also have pom-poms for our spectators generously donated by our parent Mrs. Allison. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE GENEROUSLY GIVEN A GIFT TO OUR RACE FOR EDUCATION. SO FAR WE HAVE RAISED OVER $15,000! OUR GOAL IS $40,000. DONATIONS FOR RACE FOR EDUCATION ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jackie Kern in the Advancement Office at advancementoffice@smarys.org.
2 October 16, 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians, The faculty will soon be preparing for Parent/Teacher Conferences. For your convenience, we will be holding conferences the evening of Wednesday, November 14 th from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm, Thursday, November 15th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Friday, November 16 th from 8:30 until 11:30 am. Report cards will be available on-line in RenWeb on Wednesday, November 14 th. As you are aware, our upper grade classes are departmentalized and your child may have more than one teacher. Quite often many of our parents also want to meet with more than the homeroom teacher. In order to allow our parents to meet with each teacher, we will not schedule set appointment times for any grade level, Kindergarten-8 th. Each teacher will be in their classroom and will be happy to meet with any of our parents. All conferences will be limited to 5-10 minutes. If additional time is required, the teacher will set aside a future date and time for you. We are hoping that this way of handling conferences will provide you with the opportunity to see each of your child s teachers if necessary. For our planning, please complete the form below indicating whether you plan to come on the evening of November 14th, the day on November 15th or the morning of November 16th. Please return this form as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you and hope that this will give you the opportunity to discuss your child s progress with each of his/her teachers. Please note there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, November 15 th and Friday, November 16 th. Sincerely, Mrs. Mancuso. Student Name Parent Signature We plan on attending the conferences scheduled for: Wednesday, November 14th (6:00 pm 8:30 pm) Thursday, November 15th (10:00 am 12:00 pm) Thursday, November 15 th (1:00 pm 4:00 pm) Friday, November 16th (8:30 am 11:30 am)
