2 Page 2 AOH DIVISION 61 JOSEPH PATRICK SCHICKLING President s Letter As the Summer comes to an end we have a lot of things going on this Fall. First on October 8 th is 115 th Anniversary Banquet at Brookside Manor. We only hold this event every 5 years, it s a time to relax, enjoy each other s company and celebrate our accomplishments over the last five years. So if you ve been a member for years or just joined within the last year it s a great time and a great time to get to know your brothers better. On October 16 th is our annual crab derby, we race live crabs and serve all the crabs you can eat, this is our major club fundraisers so don t miss it. And finally on Sunday November 7 th is our annual golf outing, so if you re a pro or just a hacker like the rest of us it s a great time, and a great way to start out. Hopefully, we will see each other at the next meeting on September 10 th, remember September s meeting is the second Friday due to the Labor Day holiday, as always; I may be reached at or jgill@septa.org with any questions or concerns. Yours in our motto, Jack The 8th Annual AOH 61 Golf Outing has been rescheduled for November 7th at John F. Byrne Golf Club. Check-in will commence at 7 AM with the shotgun start beginning at 8 AM. The cost per person is $85. Entry fee entitles each person to green fees, cart, dinner, and prizes. Division 61 s Notre Dame Football is back for another year our cheering on the Irish for a National Championship! For $125 each member is entitled to Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Bud Lite, Yuengling & Bud; plus food and a shirt. 3 Page 3 Quiz-What?...Quiz-O!!! Quiz-o for August will be Friday, September 24th beginning at 8:00 PM. Come out with friends, wife, girlfriend whom ever and impress them with your knowledge of near useless information. This month s theme: Anyone interested in joining AOH Shuffleboard, please contact: Chris O Connor at streck3@yahoo.com or Vinnie Costello at Vincent_r_costello@yahoo.com We have room in the league for teams or individual players. Minimum amount of players on a team is three and the maximum is 6 with one alternate. Teams must be Co-ed. The league runs from September 14th until December. Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday nights (some Wednesdays when meetings are at the club). VOLUME 5 ISSUE 1 Division th Anniversary Dinner On Friday October 8th, 7:00-11:30 PM Division 61 will celebrate our 115th anniversary with a Dinner at The Brookside Manor. The cost is $60 per person including open bar, hors d'oeuvres and dinner. We only do this every 5 years, so don t miss this great event. Major Degrees of the Order On October 31st 10:00 am a Major Degree of the Order Ceremony will be held at AOH Division 22, 5th & Willow Sts. The Ceremony is open to all AOH members in good standing, Degreed members may also attend as observers. More information will be forthcoming. DUES 2010 dues are now due! They have now been increased to $55. Dues may be paid at meetings, dropped off to the club in an envelope with your name and the amount or mailed to AOH Division Rhawn Street, Philadelphia, PA

4 Page 4 AOH DIVISION 61 JOSEPH PATRICK SCHICKLING Crab Night! Mark your calendars! Our 14th annual crab night is set for Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Saint Dominic s Maria Hall! The proceeds from our Crab Derby help offset the cost of repairs at our club and even more importantly helps keep the beer cold! This is the only fundraiser we do to benefit our home and we are working hard to make this our best night ever. For the benefit of our new members or for those of you who have not attended one of our crab nights before we feature all-you-can-eat crabs, beer, wine and soda as well as Hot Roast Beef, homemade salads and a sweet table. In addition, we present five live crab races that you can bet on (like Night at the Races) as well as other games of chance for your entertainment. In order to make this might a success, we need your help ad participation. Obviously, we would like to have you come out and bring some friends. This cost of a ticket is $30 in advance and $40 at the door. As an incentive, everyone who purchases their tickets in advance will be eligible for a $100 cash door prize. Another way you can participate is by helping to sell races. Similar to our Night at the Races, you can buy one of our racing crabs for $5 and name it whatever your please (within reason we are a Catholic organization). Holly Halfway to St. Patrick s Day Fundraiser on Sunday September 19th from 12-5PM at the High Street Grill Parking Lot in Mt. Holly, NJ (64 High Street Mt. Holly, NJ). The cost is only $10 and it helps to support the parade. Any help is greatly appreciated. There will be music on held by Celtic Connection, O'Farrelly's Whiskey, Paul Kennedy, John O'Callahan and other special guests. Plus there will be many great beers for sale and the announcement of the Grand Marshal. You can call for tickets. Please come out and support the parade.
