1 N rth Star November 2015 Issue Hang on Sloopy State Director s Report Calendar Upcoming Chapter Trainings Thanksgiving Food Baskets Hang on Sloopy!! -Greg Thirtyacre, III, Internal Vice President The season is almost over and we have left our mark on every single home game! I want to start by thanking everyone that has come out to tailgate with us, not only have you made it a great time but you have helped raise funds that go directly back to the community in the process. We are making quiet an impact with CampusParc at the games, they actually have their employees and supervisors asking to work our lot because word is out that we know how to have a good time! If you have not made it out to a game yet you only have one more chance, the Minnesota game is November 7 th and we will be out tailgating for it ALL DAY! That s right, on top of getting a ticket into the horseshoe we also provide Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and drinks I mean can you get a better deal anywhere else? The upcoming game is an 8:00 kickoff so there will be two shifts, although first shift is already taken. Second shift runs from 12:00 to kickoff (or until the lot fills, we were done by 5:30 for the Penn State game) and means that you do not have to be there at 4:00 am! For more information and it sign up please go to JayceeParking.com, there you will find meeting locations, dress code, schedules, and contact information for any further questions you may have. I look forward to seeing you there! Meetings are held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each the Jaycee Village (address on back)

4 Chapter Trainings - Greg Thirtyacre, III, Internal Vice President Here we are in the last quarter and what a great year it has been! We now have multiple people in the chapter qualified to teach JCI Impact and JCI Achieve classes and we are gearing up for what is hands down going to be my favorite training of the year a sushi making class! More information will be coming out soon so keep your ear to the ground if you are interested. We are also looking to have another CCW class in the fourth quarter for any interested parties. Follow us on Facebook and keep an eye on NorthColumbusJaycees.org for more information on upcoming events; we hope to see you soon! Thanksgiving Food Basket Event - Desirée Evans, External Vice President Each year the North Columbus Jaycees sponsor local families in need for the Thanksgiving Holiday, providing them with all the fixin s of a traditional Thanksgiving Meal. This year we would like to sponsor 25 families but we can t make that happen without you! We need several people the weekend prior to Thanksgiving to help assemble the baskets and on Tuesday, November 24 be available to help distribute the baskets. There are a couple changes for this year. The major change is that we are requesting that the families pick up the baskets if at all possible. Also, we need all of you to try and locate families to sponsor. We are partnering with Everest Institute in Gahanna, a non-profit technical college for this event. They have generously offered up space to build the baskets as well as serve as a pick up location for the baskets on Tuesday. Please contact me to volunteer for this event! Desiree.evans82@gmail.com

5 A Frighteningly Good Time -Amanda Higby, Secretary There are a few rules to keep in mind when entering The Haunted Corn Maze: stay on the path so that you do not get lost forever, no drinking or smoking in the maze, no flashlights allowed because it will scare the ghouls away. It is very important to follow these rules while following the path of the corn maze; if you ever want to find your way out. The previous excerpt was what I told every soul that entered the corn maze, as the gate keeper. On Friday, October 9th, the North Columbus Jaycees had the pleasure of volunteering for The Haunted Corn Maze located at 8657 Axelhandle Road, Milford Center Ohio. If you haven t had a chance to visit this corn maze I highly recommend it. I had the pleasure of volunteering with my daughter Jade, who had an awesome time as the gorilla s keeper. Jade spent her evening enticing haunted maze enthusiasts to come play with the caged monkey; caged, so they thought... Want to know what happens next? Perhaps a trip to Milford Center Ohio is in order for your next Halloween calendar. If you are not a fan of a delightful scare, there are other attractions at Little Darby Creek. There is a large corn maze, without the scare, that is great to get lost in. There is also a bounce area and small petting farm where you can feed goats and pet some bunnies.
