1 RULES Read 4 books and for each book, list the title and author, rate the book, and give a brief review (like/dislike and why). Once this log has been completed return to the Reference Desk to be entered into the drawing for a chance to win a prize! All participating teens will win free books! One lucky, random entry will win a free Kindle Fire, and the teen who reads the most books will win a gift certificate to a local restaurant of their choice! Read any book you want, but be warned: 3 Graphic Novels = 1 book! Complete as many logs as you can before Saturday, August 13th. Winners will be notified Monday, August 16th. Only DeKalb residents are eligible for the Kindle Fire and gift card.

2 Do you need service hours to graduate or for Scouts? The library needs volunteers! If you volunteer at the library Mondays during Summer Reading: Upon request you will receive a letter for your school notifying them of service hours completed. If you do a good job, then Steve and/or Darcy will be able to write you a recommendation for a job and/or a college application. Every 3 hours of volunteering completed earns an extra entry into the Kindle Fire drawing. Any time spent volunteering during Library Legionnaires hours will earn you an invitation to the Library Legionnaires Thank You Party. You can work in groups with your friends! You help out the library you know and love! Stop at the Reference Desk before and after your volunteering to sign in and out to get credit! 3 Paper, pencils, laptops, inspiration, guidance, and all the resources of the library will be available in this weekly writing exercise. Create a world to use as a setting for your next RPG or story. Work on developing characters, plot, and story. The goal is to have the rough draft of a story completed by the end of the summer. Bring in a story to work on or start something new. Don t know where to start? Don t worry, we ll help! It s about making your voices heard and your choices matter. Free PIZZA will be provided. And delicious refreshments.
