1 Ohio Rainbow November 2015 Groovy Gazette Volume 1, Issue 1 Peace, Love and Grand Worthy Advisings. What s groovin, flower children? It has been a very exciting year serving as your Groovy Grand Worthy Advisor so far. I have visited several districts and assemblies for some out-ofsight events thus far, including Marie L. Hamilton for their Rock-A-Teeterthon and several of the northwest Districts for the Great Lakes Shrine Parade, just to name a couple. I cannot wait to visit more Districts very soon! The first big event of the year was the Grand Officer Picnic at Fairborn. The Grand Officers and their companions had loads of fun eating delicious food, making tie-dye socks and hippie crafts, and playing games. I am confident that I have the most fun Grand Officers out there! (Sorry, PGWAs.) I just delivered my final speech (well, at least for a few months) at Grand Lodge in Columbus on October, 23 rd. Speaking out about Rainbow and the values and goals that we are emphasizing during our Peace, Love, and Rainbow term to several Masonic bodies was a great experience! I received an abundance of support from the bodies concerning Relay For Life and our membership program. I even got lots of positive feedback from former hippies themselves! On October 24 th, Ohio Rainbow made history by initiating the largest group of candidates at a Statewide Initiation: 11 girls! It was a very special day for not only the Grand Officers, but for our new initiates. The Grand Floor Officers did an amazing job, and I was so impressed to see every seat in the auditorium at the Ohio Masonic Home filled! I also got to announce my first three Honor Court girls: Carolyn S. from Fairborn, Lauren W. from Beth Scott Memorial, and Rya K. from Marysville. I would like to make a very special announcement that I would like for everyone to put on their calendars! On Friday, June 10 th, 2016 beginning at 6 p.m. will be Ohio Rainbow s Statewide Relay For Life event at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio. Ohio Rainbow will have a team at the event to show our support for the cause, and I am encouraging EVERY District to come! Of course, you are also asked to participate in your local Relay For Life events as well. Get creative, and help to find a cure! I would also like to remind everyone that our Statewide Dance and Basket Auction to raise money for Relay For Life will be on May 14 th, 2016 at the Dayton Masonic Temple. Please send me your basket auction ideas for approval soon! We do NOT want several of the same baskets. Please, please, please get creative and come up with a basket that no one has seen before! The next round of Groovy Gazette articles should be sent to me by Sunday, January 31 st. We are asking that the following Districts/ Assemblies send in articles: 9, 11, 12, 16, 20, and 21. I can t wait to hear about what you all have been up to! I look forward to seeing you all in my travels! Until then, keep spreading the word of peace and love. In Rainbow Peace and Love, Kaitlynn Turner Groovy Grand Worthy Advisor Mom Morris Good Vibes Hello Ohio Rainbow Family, It has been a busy time for traveling and all the Grand Bodies appreciated the monetary gift for their service projects. They appreciated your Grand Worthy Advisor and her speeches. Each one was different and she memorized all of them. We had some laughs and I didn t spill anything on myself or anyone else this year. I was so proud of all our Grand Officers who came to the Statewide Initiation and fulfilled their obligations. We had such a large class of initiates and Grand Faith and Grand Drill Leader did impressive floor work. Thank you to all the attendees for supporting our girls. Our protems did great and thank you for being such troopers. Girls, please remember to always thank your Grand Deputy, Mother Advisors, and Advisory Boards for all the work they do for you and Rainbow. We have a lot coming up and they will be there for you. I don t know what I would do without them and we all need to show our appreciation. Please abide by our dress code and code of conduct. Always remember you are representing Rainbow at all times. God gave us a beautiful fall and hopefully, He will be gentle with the winter. Always look for the Rainbow and His promise to us. May God hold you in the palm of His hands and surround you with His love. May God bless.. In Rainbow Love and Service, Mom Morris

And as always feel free to visit us on the 1 st & 3 rd Saturday of the month at 10am now at the West Farmington Masonic Temple. Submitted by: Roxanne York - Mother Advisor Emerald Assembly #44 is Groovin to the beat! Emerald Assembly #44 has been busy the last since Grand Assembly. Two day after we got back from Grand Assembly the girls had a booth at the county fair with West Farmington to give out information about Rainbow and had a bake sale at the Gustavus Car show where they got to look at the cars and enjoy the heat of the day. Later that week the girls went the DeMolay Conclave in Kent for a night of dance and fun. In to August the girls went and fed the fish at Limesville Spillway where they also went swimming.. In September they sold pepperoni rolls to the Mason's who attended the outdoor raising at Cortland Lodge. A few of the girls learned to make candy which was sold by Opal Chapter of Eastern Star for Betty's closet,a local home that takes in,children in foster care. Our Grand Officer started to get ready for our Grand Reception in Oct. At Grand Reception. the girls had a lot of fun and enjoyed the ride to Painesville. Our last meeting of the month was a costume party where everyone dressed up. We also had an overnight at the lodge where the girls played games and watched movies. We are now getting ready for a initiation on November 14 we are all look forward to a new member of our assembly.

Hello Ohio Rainbow from Painesville Assembly #14. A fun and exciting time was had by all at this year s Grand Assembly at Kenyon College. We are extremely proud of our Grand Officers: Grand Patriotism Rhiannon J., Grand Service Peyton C, and Grand Representative to Florida and Alabama Erin B. We are looking forward to traveling the state and visiting all you beautiful ladies. Painesville has gotten off to a running start since Grand Assembly. So far we have had a garage sale, served dinners for our Masonic Bodies, worked the pizza both at the Great Geauga County Fair with the Painesville DeMolay boys, and had a spaghetti fund raiser. Also had Rainbow apple picking day at Patterson Fruit Farm and used the apples for apple fun at the following meeting. Our assembly was honored to host the Grand Reception for Districts 5, 7, 11, 25 and 31. It was a great time planning the event, making and putting up all the decorations. Thanks to all that helped. It was a beautiful day and a great turn out. Thank you to all that came and made the day special. The first ritual competition was held and a big thanks to the Ritual Committee for running it. What a fun time watching the Grand Officers play pin the wheels on the bus with their beautiful daisy halos. Not sure how many times Casey twirled them around, a few were pretty dizzy. We have seen some pretty funny photos taken in the VW Bus photo booth. Not sure who told the crazy host deputies they were allowed to wear maxi dresses, big sunglasses and picture hats but it was great. Painesville had a big surprise that we announced at the reception. Our own Erin B. has been chosen one of the Supreme Rockin Rainbows. She spent a year working hard and fund raising over $11,000 to help the city of Painesville purchase and train a new K9 officer. She even gets to name the new K9 officer. The name will be Gold, partially for the Gold at the end of the Rainbow. Congratulations Erin. We are all looking forward to the Holidays. We do a couple of community activities related to the holidays. Can t wait to see everyone at Fairborn s Grand Reception in November. Thank you, Painesville Rainbow

6 Page 6 Life Revolves around Service As far as Relay for Life goes, the sales of the t-shirts, bracelets, and pretzels have been off the charts and our sponsoring bodies have been extremely generous with their donations! The assemblies have been selling dozens and dozens of daisies, and some have been asking for hundreds at a time. Many assemblies are coming up with their own Relay For Life fundraisers and are setting up teams at their local Relays. The response has been so positive since cancer impacts everyone in one way or another. The Ohio Rainbow team will be participating at the Relay For Life event at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio on June 10th, There will be more details to come.
