TOMORROW Chargers Rock the Hits (Charger Pride) Friday, October 5 No School The Homecoming dance is this Saturday from 7-10PM at Hamilton. Tickets are on sale for $15 each TODAY and TOMORROW during all lunch periods and after school in Room 28. Tickets may be purchased at the door by current Hamilton students for $20 each. Purchasing tickets at the door requires having a student ID and must be completed no later than 8PM. Only students who attend Hamilton will be able to purchase tickets at the door on Saturday evening. No guest tickets will be sold. Alpine Ski Team Are you interested in joining a competitive Ski Team? Hamilton Co-ops with Menomonee Falls and offers Varsity & JV Boys & Girls Teams. 2 Guidance Announcements Attention Juniors and Seniors: Early College Credit and Start College Now applications are available in the Guidance Office and on the Guidance Website. Forms are due back to the Guidance Office no later than Monday, October 1 - no exceptions. PSAT Wednesday, October 10 Attention: Sophomores and Juniors, the PSAT test will be given on Wednesday, 10/10 from 7:20 10:30AM. at Hamilton High School. This voluntary test provides an opportunity for college-bound students to experience and practice taking a shortened version of the SAT Reasoning Test. The PSAT is the only route of entry into the National Merit Scholarship Competition (NMSC) for juniors and may be required for some other scholarships. Interested juniors must register in the high school Guidance office beginning the second week of September. Sophomores can now register for the test. The $16.00 test fee is payable at the time of registration. Stop in Guidance to register and for more information. Searching for Scholarships: When the Guidance Office receives scholarship information, it is added to the HHS Scholarship List. This list can be found on the HHS website by clicking on Guidance Resources and looking at the Find It Fast section on the bottom left side. There are also scholarship opportunities outside of what is available on the Hamilton Scholarship List. But, be careful! There are also scholarship scams out there. The Federal Trade Commission warms against organizations that guarantee scholarships and require a fee. Wendy s is offering their annual high school Heisman scholarship. This scholarship is for senior scholar-athletes with high character. Eligibility begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. Applicants must perform in one of 47 school-sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations. Additional information is available at Deadline is 10/17/18. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievementbased scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. The foundation awards 150 scholarships for $20,000. Interested seniors can apply at Deadline is 10/31/18. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation is again offering the Herb Kohl Excellence Scholarships for Seniors are encouraged to apply to be nominated for one of 100- $10,000 scholarships for Wisconsin students going on to a two or four year school. If you consider yourself a volunteer, pay attention! The Prudential Spirit of Community Award Program is available to all high school students. Students must be nominated by their principal based on involvement in community service and volunteerism. HHS will nominate one student to go on to the next level of competition. The state level first place award is $1,000 or more, a beautifully engraved medallion, and a fabulous trip with a parent to Washington, D.C. next spring. The online application can be found at Deadline is 11/6/18. The Elks National Foundation is offering the 2019 Most Valuable Student Scholarship contest again. The Elks foundation provides many scholarships each year to deserving students. Applicant must be a US Citizen and will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. For additional information, please visit their website at Deadline is 11/15/18. Applications are now being accepted online for the AXA Achievement Scholarship. They are giving away 300 scholarships for $2,500. One student from each state is awarded a $10,000 scholarship and advanced to the national level for a chance to win an additional $15,000. AXA is looking for students with ambition and drive shown by their outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities. Army ROTC provides an opportunity for full tuition scholarships to participating. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and grades, not financial need. The Air Force ROTC offers scholarships that cover your tuition and most lab fees. Also, you ll receive an annual textbook allowance and up to a $500 spending cash monthly stipend. You must plan to pursue an education major/minor and intend to teach in Wisconsin. Each year one of the four scholarships shall be designated the Kathy Mann Memorial Scholarship. The Wisconsin Professional Police Association is offering scholarships to Wisconsin students enrolling in a college or vocational/technical school in a course of study leading to a two or four year degree in police science, criminal justice, or a law enforcement related field. Instructions and application are available at Deadline is 2/1/19. The Simon Youth Foundation (SYF), in partnership with Johnson Creek Premium Outlets, 2019 Scholarship awards are available. The one time award is up to $1,500 for one high school senior who lives within 50 miles of Johnson Creek Premium Outlets and who plans to attend an accredited university, two or four year college, technical or vocational school. In addition, an Award of Excellence, which is a $2,500 renewable scholarship award, will be given to the top candidate from among the scholarship winners. The American Legion is offering the Schneider-Emanuel Scholarship for Wisconsin high school seniors meeting the eligibility requirements. The applicant must be a direct descendant of a U.S. veteran who served during a period of war and is a member of the American Legion. Rugby Congrats to the Hamilton Girls' Rugby team who remain undefeated with a 44-0 win over Kettle Moraine. They have now won the first three games of the regular season by a combined score of With the win, the team has qualified for the state championship semi-finals. The team won Friday's game on the back of a three-try performance by Lauren Leonardi who scored the first hat trick of her career. Elise Rades (Ra-DISS) scored twice and Alex Werra (WEAR-ah), Michelle Wehrman (WEAR-man), and Morgan Price scored solo tries. Congrats girls, and good luck against DSHA on Saturday! Elise Rades tied the game with a try in the second half and Morgan Price scored the go-ahead try as regulation expired. On Saturday, the team opened their regular season with a win against the Madison/Fox Valley Co-Op by a score of Hamilton had tries from Angel Junkert, Lauren Leonardi, Morgan Price, Rosie Eesley, and a pair of tries from Elise Rades, Hannah Pfersch, and Tierra Laurishke. PSAT Wednesday, October 10 Attention: Sophomores and Juniors, the PSAT test will be given on Wednesday, 10/10 from 7:20 10:30AM. at Hamilton High School. This voluntary test provides an opportunity for college-bound students to experience and practice taking a shortened version of the SAT Reasoning Test. The PSAT is the only route of entry into the National Merit Scholarship Competition (NMSC) for juniors and may be required for some other scholarships. Interested juniors must register in the high school Guidance office beginning the second week of September. Sophomores can register for the test beginning Monday, September 24.
