August.August! Dog Day s of Summer one day, Indian Summer the next. August just couldn t make up it s mind but, oh yeah, I forget sometimes that we live in Oklahoma.

Since we didn t get to celebrate our July birthdays and anniversaries because of the weather we decided to celebrate them at the August gathering.

Here s the amazing part. Edna is a triple and Karen is a twin. How bout that! Chapter P and Chapter E both joined us this month. Beth Jensen even managed to walk away with the50/50 pot.

Bill Rhoades was out of town so Ed stepped up to the plate and delivered.

We had a really great August gathering. Since we didn t get to celebrate our July birthdays and anniversaries because of the weather we decided to celebrate them at the August gathering. I discovered that two of our birthday girls, Edna Foster and Karen Mason, have their birthday on the same day, July 17 th. At this point you re probably saying, So. Here s the amazing part. Edna is a triple and Karen is a twin. How bout that! Chapter P and Chapter E both joined us this month. Beth Jensen even managed to walk away with the50/50 pot. Hoped she shared with Larry. He s a good guy. I want to say thank you to Edgar Mason, Chapter M Motorist Awarness Coordinator, for presenting Rider Education to the group. Bill Rhoades was out of town so Ed stepped up to the plate and delivered. I want to express my graditude to all the members of Chapter M for all the time and effort they bring to the chapter. It truly is the members that bring life to a chapter. On August 13 a few of us hardy Goldwing riders got up before sunrise and made the trip to Chapter X for their monthly gathering. All I got to say is BRUNCH.have you ever considered brunch? Okay, we had a great time though. Thanks so much, Brett, for the photo bomb moment. From Stillwater we traveled to Claremore for Chapter P s Anniversary to say aloha. We had a great meal with amazing root beer September 2016 OK Chapter M P a g e 2

It was a long day and a long ride, but I didn t run out of gas, Brett, just saying. We managed to get in a Friday night dinner ride to Charlie s Chicken in Fort Gibson before the month was up. Eleven of us managed to ride or drive over for a wonderful buffet meal. Before the night was over I managed to talk them into becoming our newest chapter sponsor. Thank you Charlie s Chicken in Fort Gibson. WingDing 38 was held in Billings, Montana this year and Chapter M members, June Stuckey and Ed and Karen Mason, made the trip. Ed sent some spectacular pictures. I am so looking forward to hearing about their trip at our gathering on September 8 th. Last but never least don t forget to register for the Oklahoma District Rally on September 29, 30 and October 1 st. It is happening in Muskogee, OK this year, Chapter M. It is so close to home you can t miss coming out and having some fun. Remember we are the 2015 Chapter of the Year. Let s show everyone how much fun we have when we are all together! Hi Everyone, Well the weather is either getting better for riding or maybe it's just that I'm learning to appreciate it more.

Over time I have gotten stronger and my overall health has improved so on the weekend of 8-28-16 a few of Chapter M's members and a couple of members from chapter E out of Tulsa

4 Hi Everyone, Well the weather is either getting better for riding or maybe it's just that I'm learning to appreciate it more. You see, for almost 2 years I have been fighting with cancer and heart problems and most of the time was not sure of my balance. So riding, or not, really wasn't an option. Over time I have gotten stronger and my overall health has improved so on the weekend of a few of Chapter M's members and a couple of members from chapter E out of Tulsa all went for a Sunday ride. It was absolutely fantastic, and yes for the first time in a very long while I was able to go with my bike. Everything went great and I even got back in to doing some trick riding, but we won't talk about that right now,but I will say that being able to ride and having my friends with me was a great way to spend the day. We rode about 125 miles carefree and no rain. For me it was like a new lease on life. Appreciation is one of our strongest but most modest feelings and I over, the past 2 years, hadn t realized that a lot of the things I took for granted are things that not everyone has and being in the positions that I have been in has changed the way I look at life. I definitely see things different now. Friends, motorcycles and new places to ride are things we all need to work on, and I'm certainly going too try and do my part and in the process I will improve my appreciation for all situations, people and places. Tomorrow is the first day of everyone's life. Lets make it safe, fun and let your friends know that they are friends. Well enough for now. So keep it safe and friendly and your next sunrise I'm sure will be great. Until then, keep the shinny side up please. What a wonderful way to end our Couple of the Year tour. Karen, June Stuckey, and I traveled 2,800 miles through the West to go to WingDing38 in Billings, Montana.

Yellowstone, Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs,(twice), Beartooth Pass, Billings. We have only had two miles of rain, and that was just a shower.

Dodge City Kansas, Colorado Springs to walk with a wolf, Estes Park Colorado, Rocky Mountain State Park, Grand Tetons, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Craters of the Moon, Yellowstone, Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs,(twice), Beartooth Pass, Billings. We have only had two miles of rain, and that was just a shower. Lovely weather, great friends and beautiful scenery. Damn, I m glad we came. Memories are forever. 7 True Story I hate to keep nagging about ATGATT, but it is probably the one thing that can make a beautiful ride stay that way or turn into a disaster. WE were on our way to Billings, going over Beartooth Pass, when two people on a brand new,top of the line Harley either became distracted by the sheer beauty of the landscape, or wanted to pass us slow GoldWingers, got into the gravel on the road, from the snowstorm two days before, and did a lowside/highside flip off the bike. This is NOT the picture of the girl, but they were wearing shorts, sneakers, T shirts, and ball caps. We stopped and turned around to help them. There were no broken bones, but there was a lot of road rash and bleeding. Thankfully it turned out well enough that they could continue their trip, but DAMN, if they had their stuff on it would have been scratched bike, bruised ego, and scuffed gear. It all starts out simple enough, I m just going. it s hot, I m not going to get in trouble.. ooops! Blood and hurt. We don t heal as fast as we used too, and people depend on us.
