3 From the General Manager T he summer season is finally here and we look forward to having enjoyable summer activities for your family and guests here at the Brickyard. Once again, our Summer Academy will be led by our Youth Director, Rebecca Ellard. There will be plenty of educational activities, swimming, golf and cooking lessons, and overall summer fun. We have over forty families for our pool membership this year and for the very first time since the club was redesigned, we have exceeded our membership goal of three hundred members! Please look for Anastasia s article in this month s newsletter for information on our membership programs. We depend on our members to be ambassadors of the club, and we thank you for your referrals of friends, family, and business associates. We continue to add talented individuals to our food and beverage staff in order to improve food quality and consistent service. We have changed our menu for the pool and grille to provide a variety of scrumptious items. Also, during the summer months we will not offer the 2 for 20 dinners. The regular menu and the chef s specials will be available at the grille and pool throughout the summer. I would personally like to thank the members for their attendance at the Mother s Day Brunch; we had over 150 members and guests in attendance and a good time was had by all! I look forward to seeing you again at our Father s Day Brunch, so show the favorite men in your life how much you appreciate them! On behalf of the golf department, I would like to remind you of our policies for guests and golf play. Guest passes cannot be rolled over or moved from future months to the present month and members must play with their guests in order to use the special discounted rate of $79.97 per guest (after exhausting the 3 passes per month). However, should you wish to allow a guest to play without you being present, the fee is $ plus tax. Prior members who have resigned within the last 24 months will also be required to pay the $ fee. I would also like to remind you that the driving range is available for members and guests prior to playing a round of golf and permission from management is needed for guests to use the range otherwise. One last reminder please be mindful of our putting greens and help us to keep them in good shape by not chipping from the grassy areas to the greens. Please refer to Jim s article in this newsletter. We look forward to seeing you at the Brickyard this summer. As always, our staff is eager to serve you and my door is always open should you have concerns or need assistance. Please feel free to stop in at any time. See you at the club! Luis Pardal General Manager (478) Ext. 222 generalmanager@brickyardgolf.com 2
4 Membership News W e have received an overwhelming response to the new membership programs we have advertised over the past few months. I have been very grateful to receive so many referrals from our current members, and I want to thank each one of you who recommended a friend, family member, or acquaintance for membership. You and the friends you bring in are the foundation of the club. That said, membership may slow down, but never stops, and we have an exciting new program available. Check out the next page for more information! If you have sponsored a member recently but did not sign their application, please stop by my office to do so when you have a chance. I look forward to seeing you around the club this summer, and I hope all of our new members will take full advantage of all of our services and summer programs! Have a wonderful summer! 7 Golf News A Note from your Course Superintendent I hope everyone has been enjoying the course lately. The temperatures have risen and the Bermuda grass is starting to fill in. Things are looking good for the rest of the summer playing months. We have our first aerification of the year for the greens planned for June 1st and 2nd. The course will be closed on the second to allow us to finish the aerifying process and to ensure that the greens are in the best playing condition possible before you get back on them. We will be pulling cores on this aerification and if all goes as planned, we will just need to do some solid tines the rest of the summer. We have been raking the bunkers a little differently lately. We have tried to leave the sloped parts of the bunkers alone to ensure that the ball will not get lost in the sand and will roll down to the bottom of the bunker. Hopefully it is giving you a better lie to hit from. Hope to see you all on the course, Hope to see you on the course! Briane Faletto, GCS Class A Superintedent We Need Your Help!! Please repair ball marks on green. Rake bunkers after your shot. Use 90 degree rule (it helps fairways). Please register yourself and guests before going out to play golf. Please check with Jim Hickman or Carl McNeill before playing a five-some. Thanks and happy golfing!
