The men s club championship was a huge success as the participation hit a record with 70 players and the kudos regarding the event itself were outstanding. The Board of Directors approved a proposal to engage with the Chambers Group whom conducted the Member Focus Groups to help us with updating our Master Facilities Plan. The results of this exercise includes recommendations by Chambers for amenity enhancements, service improvements, and conceptual facilities design solutions with professional conceptual cost estimates that may be implemented as one project or over a number of phases. We ll keep the membership updated on the progress of this initiative. Your continued support of the Club by hosting a private event is much appreciated. Your Club has unparalleled services and facilities for hosting a special event. We are here to help you plan your party, whether it is a Board Meeting, a Birthday Celebration, a Golf Outing or a Client Appreciation Party. 11 Golf Course Maintenance Mike Epps Golf Course Superintendent Happy Labor Day! The Mr. & Mrs. Club Championship, Ladies Sr. Club Championship and The Classic makes September a great month for golf. We have finished the last scheduled greens aeration of the season and are in good shape as we start towards fall. The putting surface is healing in nicely after our deep tine aeration. We will continue our regular vertical mowing and topdressing to remove grain, improve smoothness and ball roll speed. As fall approaches we will target our fertility program to promote good root growth, and energy storage to prepare the grass for winter. The recent aeration allowed us to apply gypsum and then deep water the greens, which flushed the salts below the root zone. We follow this up with a custom fertilizer application that has key nutrients that drive roots down. A strong root system is ultimately what helps us transition next spring. If you are having guest come play the course over Labor Day weekend or any time soon, please let them know about our golf course culture and etiquette. Over fill your divots, fix your ball mark and please use a pull push rack method if you have to play out of a sand bunker. Remember, it s your golf course so please help us keep it nice for your enjoyment. Thank you for your time. Mike Epps Golf Course Superintendent Employee Spotlight Landon Bauman Meet Landon! He was born and raised in Fort Worth. He has been working at Mira Vista f0r 4 ½ years and it was actually his very first job! He attends the University of Texas in Arlington and brings high quality service for all our Golf Members outside! In his spare time he loves to fish and go hunting. Tell us some Random Facts about you: My vison is terrible. I love cold weather and I have two dogs, a yellow lab named Belle and a Belgian Malinois named Scott. Favorite Menu Item? Chocolate Milkshake Outside Services What aspect of your role do you like best? My Coworkers and all the members. Being outside is relaxing. I really enjoy picking up the balls on the range as I find it peaceful to be able to drive around and listen to music.
