Entries that are incorrect or incomplete will not be processed and entry fee will be forfeited. Foals under the age of 12 months will be entered with a birth notification attached if not registered by the closing date of entries. No import horses pending for over 6 months will be accepted. All Accounts at the Arab Horse Society must be up to date before entering. Entries cannot be accepted if there is outstanding fees for the member or stud All Entries will be cross checked on the Logix system. Incorrect entries will not be accepted 8. NUMBERS & CATALOGUES Numbers & Catalogues will be available at the Afri-Dome from 27 March Catalogues R each. The size of the number must be on an A5 and may not to be trimmed. It is also recommended that safety pins be used - at least three - top and bottom affixed to the back at shoulder height of the handler/rider. A fee of R20.00 is payable per number. 9. STABLING The organisers will attempt to accommodate all exhibitors requests The use of additional stables not allocated will be fined R1000 per stable. NO bedding will be sold for the purpose of decoration of the stables. STABLE REQUISITION FORMS TO BE CORRECTLY COMPLETED. 10. CHAMPIONSHIP ES Participation is compulsory for the relevant qualifiers. 11. EARLIEST ARRIVAL Monday 27 March 2018, unless special arrangement have been made with the owners of the Afridome. Earlier arrival will be R45 per stable per day payable directly to Afridome 12. AFRI-DOME & CARAVAN PARK May be booked through Carol Ann PASSPORTS Owners of horses from horse sickness free areas must remember their passports. 14. GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ENTRIES Entries are restricted to members and registered breeders of a Arab Horse Society, who are in good standing with the Society. All entries are subject to the current Show Rules and Regulations of the Society. All horses entered in the show must be birth notified and/or registered with the AHS of South Africa. The ages of all horses and riders (where applicable) are to be calculated from the date of birth up to the closing date of entries 1 February
3 The Organiser has the right to combine, divide or cancel classes should it be necessary. Please note the minimum entry of 5 horses per class will be strictly adhered to, except for the Mare and Stallion classes 12 years and older and children s classes. Entry Fees are not refundable for any reason other than cancellation of a class. Each member entering for Shows must complete and sign his/her own entry form. Payments / deposits by the member for his/her entry fees must be made under the correct reference as per entry. Entries can be sent to the Show Organiser via with proof of payment attached and need not necessarily be sent from a specific address. The signed entries of the individual members can be sent to the Show Organiser in a group / bundle, but the individual entries must be listed in chronological order. Proof of payment for these entries can therefore be sent together in a group / bundle, but must be accompanied by a list of the members that must indicate which amount was paid / deposited by each of them individually. Temporary Memberships can be R Overseas handlers must obtain a temporary Show Licence at a fee of R per handler. Champions must be available for photo sessions as ordered by the Society. 15. GENERAL INFORMATION This prize list must be read in conjunction with the Rules and Regulations of the Society. 1. Any horse breaking loose in the arena or collecting ring will be fined R Exhibitors are urgently requested to ensure themselves of the starting times of the respective classes, as only two minutes will be allowed between the end of one class, and the commencement of the following class, before the gate will be officially closed. No late comers will be allowed to enter the arena. 3. Exhibitors must enter the arena in program order. 4. Exhibitors must enter the arena via the marshalling arena. 5. All scratching must immediately be brought to the attention of the marshalling steward, before the start time of the applicable class. Non compliance will be fined R Amendment to Entries 6.1. Amendment to entries during the show will cost R each and must be done IN WRITING before 18:00 the day before the particular class will take place. NO Exceptions! EXHIBITORS may be changed for free, BUT failure to notify the office of such changes, will lead to a R FINE Extra Class Entries/ Switching of Horses (horse already have a show number): The cost thereof will be R100 plus the normal entry fee Late Entries & New Class entries (with horses not previously entered or entries initially not submitted correctly, and need to get a show nr): The cost thereof will be R200 + show nr R20 plus the normal entry fee, and must be submitted in writing before 18:00 the day before the event. 7. Failing to cancel a horse who qualify for a championship during the National Championships and then not showing the horse in that particular class will lead to a R FINE. 8. All complaints must be IN WRITING and submitted at the show office, not later than one hour after 3
4 the incident, together with R 1000, 00 deposit. 9. In view of the fact that time is restricted due to the many classes and that specific halter and riding classes may be run simultaneously, exhibitors are requested to make provision in advance for sufficient handlers and/or riders to show their horses. 10. Exhibitors should acquaint themselves with the rules applicable to the relevant classes. A rulebook is obtainable from the Arab Horse Society Horses exhibited in a class for horses under 2 years of age may not be shod. 12. Tests for the use of drugs, ginger or any other typical forbidden substances may at any time be required by the show organiser. 11. No person other than official Stewards will be allowed to enter the arena during judging or to communicate with the Officiating Judges (or official Veterinarian during examinations). 12. Only the handler or rider will be allowed in the arena whilst judging is taking place. 13. Representatives of an exhibitor may change horses during a class only with the permission of the steward and providing that there is no disruption of the class. 14. All horses shall remain on the Showground s at the expense and risk of the owner/handler. 15. Officials on hand will be monitoring the violation of any rule as per current Show Rules and Regulations. 16. FORMAL, SHOWING, DRESSAGE AND EQUITATION ES 1. A junior horse is a horse under 7 years of age. 2. A senior horse is a horse 7 years and older. 3. In novice ridden classes novice means a horse that has not won a first prize, or a championship or reserve championship in any ridden class or combined class, as at the closing date of entries at an accredited Arabian horse show where 5 or more horses participated in the class at such a show. The horse may be any age. The number of horses participating in a class is the number of horses at the beginning of the class, immediately after closure of the gate. The horse will lose Novice status after the first National Championship preceding the above accomplishment. 4. Age of Riders. Children: Children are persons who have not reached their 14th birthday by the closing date of entries. Juniors: Juniors are persons who are 14 years of age but who have not reached their 18th birthday by closing date of entries. 5. No cross entries of horses are permitted between Child, Junior and Adult classes. 6. No cross entries of horses are permitted between novice and open classes. 7. Horses qualifying for and entered in a novice class, may also be ridden in either an Adult, or a Junior, or a Children s class. 8. Horses qualifying for and entered in an open class, may also be ridden in either an Adult, or a Junior, or a Children s class. 9. Formal Classes 1. All twisted wire snaffles are prohibited 2. Attire for English and Country Pleasure classes - Informal saddle seat attire is required; no hunt attire. Suggested are conservative colours such as black, blue, grey, beige or brown jacket with matching jodhpurs. Day coat with jodhpurs also permitted. Boots and derby or soft hat required. Contrasting hats, vests and/or ties are acceptable. 3. Attire for Hunter Pleasure classes - Informal attire of suitable material for hunting is required. It consists of conservatively coloured coat of any tweed or Melton (conservative wash jackets in season), breeches (or jodhpurs) and boots. A conservative hunting cap or derby is mandatory. 4
5 Formal attire is not permitted. 4. Attire for Show Hack classes - It consists of conservatively coloured coat, breeches (or jodhpurs) and boots. A conservative hunting cap or derby is required. Formal attire consisting of white breeches, top hat and tails may be worn. It is usual to wear such attire after 6:00 pm, or in Championship classes. 5. No cross entries between permitted between Country Pleasure and English Pleasure Horse & Driving Classes. 6. Amateur rider: Rider/Driver/Handler in the Arabian Division that has won a National Championship, Reserve National Championship or Top 5 in any class is no longer eligible to compete in an amateur class, excluded child and junior riders. Liberty: Stallion, Mare and Gelding classes combine: Judges will be looking for freedom of movement, expression and personality. The gait that will be judged most is the trot. Each entrant will have 3 minutes for their performance. Music is the responsibility of the handler the cd is to be clearly labelled with the horse s name and class number..the principal entry may have a maximum of two additional persons to assist with shakers or rattles during the three minute period. These helpers may position themselves anywhere in the arena and move around at will.. Any horse that cannot be caught within one minute of the music stopping will be eliminated. 17. The necessary Batch numbers must be filled in on the entry forms. 20. The gates at the entrance to the stabling areas will be locked from 6 AM to 6PM during show days. 21. No Parking in the shoot and other non-parking areas allowed. 5
