1 November, 2008 A Taste of Texas Texas hospitality reigned at the Guadalupe River RV Resort November One hundred and three coaches rolled into Kerrville, Texas to enjoy the ambience of the Hill Country. Rally Masters Jerry and Marilyn Jenkins and Kay and Tressa Williams showed what a Texas welcome really is! On the evening prior to the rally, the early arrivers gathered in the Guadalupe Pavilion to enjoy Texas wines along with light hors d oeuvres. Texas Hill Vineyards was on hand to conduct a wine tasting for their award winning wines. Wednesday s schedule was full with the first timers meeting where Kay Martin introduced six first time couples, and Jan Erickson offered information about the Wan-na-go s website. The meeting was followed by a seminar conducted on the Michelin Discount Program. Mike Jekel gave an informative session regarding the Wan-na-go s Discount Program with Michelin. Tressa Williams conducted a very popular beading class in the morning. Several people chose to do skeet or trap shooting at the Hill Country Shooting Sports Center. This is the location that the Olympic trials were held so our group experienced sports shooting at its best. Others opted to tour the world famous YO Ranch. Participants traveled to the ranch to view the exotic animals on the ranch, including a baby giraffe! The happy hour included wine tasting by The Grape Juice Shop, a popular wine shop in Ingram, and a trunk show by the world famous silversmith Clint Orms. Mr. Orms not only brought beautiful pieces, but he demonstrated the creation of pieces on site! The highlight of the day was the group Part of the Problem. Their rendition of a song about the Wan-na-go s to the tune of Home on the Range proved to be a huge hit. This interactive group thrilled the group with a yodeling contest. The contestants, Walter Gund, Connie Monk, and Joann Pack, were declared equally skilled! Thursday found the golfers testing their skills at the Hidden Springs Golf Course. Evidently, this course was a bit different than the typical course! Despite the difficulty of the course, the duffers had a great time. A new venue was added for Kerrville, fly fishing. Eleven brave souls entered the Guadalupe River and received instructions on how to catch the big one! While not everyone landed the catch of the day, everyone enjoyed the experience. A group visited the James Avery store, and three lucky winners walked away with motor home charms, courtesy of James Avery. Don Shapansky of Garnet Industries conducted a seminar on tank level systems to a group of fifty interested Wan-na-go s. Thursday night brought bingo, and the prizes valued at $100 dollars (mostly cash!) kept everyone till the end! On Friday, a bus tour of the LBJ ranch and Fredericksburg was an enjoyable trip for thirty-two of our members while others decided to visit the Museum of Western Art.. Those who are cooking experts visited

2 Old Stone Market where they were treated to samples of imported spices. To say the least, Friday night s entertainment was interesting. Evidently, the entertainment had enjoyed happy hour just a little too much! Saturday morning s general business meeting focused on the upcoming rallies and the elections of new officers. On Saturday night, Sgt. Behring of the Kerrville Sherriff s Department was present to receive over 100 stuffed animals that the Wan-na-go s donated for the officers to utilize for call where children are present. On hand also were Steve and Vicki Pickens from FMCA to present a certificate for the Wan-na-go s fifteenth anniversary. Jim and Lynne Thielke and Cletis and Pat Jones, charter members, accepted the award along with Kay Williams, President. The highlight of the evening was the performance by Harry and the Hightones. This retro band had the crowd literally dancing in the aisles! On Sunday morning, everyone visited over a continental breakfast before they left to go their separate ways. Great visiting until March when we will, hopefully, see each other again. Sheriff Kay Williams keeps everyone in line! FMCA presentation for 15 years! Jan Erickson experiences trick roping! The group had a chance to participate in several optional activities. Some chose to shoot trap or skeet at the Olympic qualifying facility in Kerrville. Eleven brave souls chose to fly fish in the Guadalupe River! (Apparently one of the Rally Masters got wet!) Those who wanted adventure traveled to the world famous YO Ranch and viewed exotic animals. James Avery Jewelry treated our ladies who toured to nice door prizes, and thirty-two people chose to travel by bus to the LBJ ranch and Fredericksburg Others opted to visit Old Stone Market and were treated to a gourmet delight in spices. Those who sew chose to create beautiful quilts with Debbie Taylor. The Museum of Western Art was another destination. One of the nicest things about the Hill Country is the variety of things to do! The attendees of the Kerrville rally donated over 100 stuffed toys to the Kerrville Sheriff s Department. Rally Masters Jerry Jenkins and Kay Williams presented the donation to Sgt. Behring. The toys will be used when officers are making calls to incidents that involve children. It s November! Do you know where your web site is? 5 MONACO WAN-NA-GO S GENERAL BUSINESS MEETIING November 15, 2008 Kerrville, Texas President Bob Calhoun called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. Lt. Col. Bridget Winken led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Officers made self-introductions. President Bob Calhoun, 1 st Vice President Kay Williams, Treasurer Jan Erickson, Alt. National Director Bettie Collins, and Secretary Marilyn Jenkins. President Bob Calhoun called for a reading of the previous minutes, and Janelle Burch moved that the minutes stand as submitted. The motion carried. Treasurer Jan Erickson reported current assets of $15, with advances for two rallies outstanding. She also stated that about half of the membership dues have been collected. We currently have a total of 336 members. 1 st Vice President Kay Williams stated that he thought that the Kerrville rally had gone very well. 2 nd Vice President Joe Namaksy reported via and gave the locations for the 2009 rallies. The first rally is scheduled for March in Lafayette/Henderson, Louisiana at the Cajun Palms Resort. The rally masters for this rally are Bob and Martha Calhoun, Ed and Margaret Sonnier, and Bob and Betty Richardson. The June rally will be held in Grove, Okalahoma at the Cedar Oaks RV Resort from June 3-7. The hosts for this rally are Larry and Pattye Meaders, Jim and Lynne Thielke and Roy and Sharon Love. The third rally will be in Hutchinson, Kansas at the State Fair Grounds on September 30-October 4. Russ and Judy Haley, Bob and Jan Erickson, and Jim and Nancy Harris will serve as rally masters. The final rally of the year will occur in Montgomery, Texas on November and will be held at the Lake Conroe KOA. The rally masters for this rally are Ron and Saundra Finke, Mike and Suzanne Reaves, and Larry and Vickie Van Drunen. Alt. National Director Bettie Collins reported that she had attended the FMCA SIX State Rally in Arkansas and FMCA is having financial difficulty. She encouraged everyone to attend the FMCA conventions. She also encouraged people to carry their MEDX cards with them. Rally Master s Report: Jerry Jenkins reported that 103 coaches attended the Kerrville Rally, and he had heard good comments about the facilities and the activities. First timers were introduced by Kay Martin, and she thanked those who had served as mentors. Old Business: Walter Gund reported that he and Jim Harris had attempted to obtain annual contributions from sponsors, and they were not getting the results that they had hoped for. Out of the seventeen letters that had been sent, only one business had agreed to make an annual contribution. Because of the economy, each rally master will need to seek his own contributions, and most likely the contributions will be down from those in the past. Janelle Burch has been working on revising the rally guide to match the current standing rules. She encouraged anyone who has suggestions to contact her.

6 New Business: Jan Erickson noted that the Wan-na-go s website had once again won honors in the FMCA Six State Rally competition. She encouraged members to visit the website. She also thanked Roger Rowe and Diane Rudolph for their hard work with the website. Janelle Burch offered the audit report that she and Don Wyatt performed. They recommended the following: any special disbursements should be signed by the President; sub accounts that are set up at Bank Of America should have checks ordered by the Treasurer, a log should be maintained, and the club should pay for the checks; buy the latest version of QuickBooksPro; have a preventive maintenance check up performed on the club computer; make rotating backups of QuickBooks files either on a CD or flash drive. Chuck Swift reported that he needed more volunteers for being a sheriff at Moultrie. Debbie Taylor asked that anyone interested in quilting at the Louisiana rally should contact her or Bonnie Miller prior to the rally. She reported that a total of ten quilt tops were completed at the Kerrville rally. Don Wyatt reported that the next Monaco International Rally would be in Moultrie, Georgia, March 9-13, and the one in July would be in Springfield, Ohio. The Monaco International rally for March of 2010 will be in Farmington, New Mexico. He also indicated that several Wan-na-go s were running for office in Moultrie, and he encouraged everyone to attend and vote. Each of the rally masters for the Wan-na-go s rallies in 2009 spoke and described the activities they were offering and encouraged everyone to attend. Bob Calhoun recognized the two charter members present, Jim & Lynne Thielke and Cletis & Pat Jones. Kay Williams thanked the group for electing him, and he appointed Jim Thielke, Kay Martin and June Little to serve on the nominating committee for the 2010 officers.. Officer elections: New officer elections were held, and the following people will serve for 2009: Kay Williams, President, Joe Namaksy, 1 st Vice President, Walter Gund, 2 nd Vice President, Jan Erickson, Treasurer, and Tressa Williams, Secretary, Bettie Collins, National Director, and Janelle Burch, Alternate National Director.
