It is the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Cavs will wrap up their trip in the Lone Star state with a visit in Dallas on Monday. In January, the Cavs pulled down 13.9 offensive rebounds per game (3 rd -most in NBA) and scored 15.3 second chance points (5 th in NBA). On the season, Cleveland ranks 5 th in offensive rebounds per game (12.5) and 15 th in second chance points (13.2). Since dishing out a season-high 29 assists on Jan. 7 against Philadelphia, the Cavs are averaging 22.3 assists and just 12.5 turnovers over the last 12 games. That is the 6 th -lowest turnovers per game average in the NBA since Jan. 7. Kyrie Irving is averaging 6.3 assists and only 1.5 turnovers over that 12-game stretch, including a total of 32 assists and five turnovers in the last five contests (6.4 assists-to-turnover ratio). Dion Waiters has scored at least 20 points in consecutive games after pouring in 21 points at New York on Thursday and 21 points versus New Orleans on Tuesday. He is shooting.607 (17-28) from the field over the last two games, including.625 (5-8) from the three-point line in 30.5 minutes per game off the bench. This season, Waiters is averaging an Eastern Conference-best 14.8 points as a reserve. In 15 January games, C.J. Miles shot.465 (33-71) from the three-point line, which was the 6 th -best percentage from long distance in the East during the month. His 33 triples made were also the 6 th -highest among all East players in January. Miles went on to average 12.6 points and 1.1 steals in 23.2 minutes per game during the month. Luol Deng registered his 7th double-double of the season (2nd as a Cavalier) with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in 32 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday. He also nailed his 398 th three-pointer at New York and is just two shy of 400 for his career. Coming into tonight s contest, Kyrie Irving has topped 20 points in seven of the last eight games (since Jan. 15), averaging 22.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.1 steals and only 1.6 turnovers in 36.1 minutes. He is also shooting.917 (33-36) from the foul line over that stretch. Irving has played against Houston twice in his career with averages of 25.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals in 35.0 minutes. Tristan Thompson s 22 double-doubles are the 2 nd -most in East in the Eastern Conference this season. He has posted a double-double in nine of the last 13 contests (since Jan. 5). Thompson also averaged a double-double in the two contests against the Rockets in with averages of 11.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in 31.0 minutes per game. With 3,990 points and 3,999 rebounds, Anderson Varejao is closing in on 4,000 points (10 points away) and 4,000 rebounds (one rebound away) for his career. He can join Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Brad Daugherty and John Williams as the only players in Cavs history with at least 4,000 points and 4,000 rebounds. Varejao is also one game away from having sole possession of 9 th place in franchise history in games played after tying Craig Ehlo with his 513 th career game with the Cavs on Sunday against the Suns. Anderson Varejao has pulled down double-digit rebounds in 14 of his last 17 contests (since Dec. 26) and has dished out at least three assists in a career-high nine straight games. His 29.0 points per game average was the highest among all Eastern Conference guards that week and second-highest among all East players. He posted the highest field goal percentage among all players in the conference who had at least a 21.0 points per game average (minimum three games). He was also one of two players in the East to record multiple 30-point games and the only one to record at least 30 points and 10 assists in a sing le game.
