The Cavs are 13-3 all-time against the Grizzlies at The Q, which includes a 7-1 mark over the last eight home contests. The Cavs are coming off a road win over the Washington Wizards on Friday night when they shot.519 (40-77) from the field and.879 (29-33) from the free throw line. It marked the 2 nd time this season the Cavs shot at least.500 from the field and.800 from the charity stripe in the same game (at Utah on Jan. 10). With 115 points in the win (including 67 in the 1 st half), Cleveland is now averaging points over the last three games. In Friday s win at Washington, the Cavs had a advantage in bench points. Cleveland s reserves have scored at least 50 points 10 times this season, including each of the last two games (59 points vs. Lakers on Wednesday). On the season, Cleveland has the 2 nd -highest scoring bench in the Eastern Conference at 37.1 points per game (6 th in NBA). Dion Waiters is leading the Cavs bench with an Eastern Conference-best 14.5 points per game as a reserve (3 rd in NBA). At Washington, Waiters had a team-high 24 points on (.611) shooting, four rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes off the bench. It was his 11 th 20-point game as a reserve this season, the third-highest total in the NBA, behind Nick Young (16) and Jamal Crawford (13). Waiters has scored 20 points or more in three of the last six contests. Friday s bench crew of Anthony Bennett (8 pts, 6 rebs), Matthew Dellavedova (7 pts, 3 rebs), Alonzo Gee (11 pts, 7 rebs), Dion Waiters (24 pts, 4 rebs) and Tyler Zeller (8 pts, 5 rebs) combined to shoot (.568) from the field for their 58 points in the victory against the Wizards. Among Eastern Conference teams, the Cavs rank 2 nd in offensive rebounds per game at 12.6 (4 th in NBA). Since the 2014 calendar year, the Cavs pulling down 14.0 offensive rebounds per game (2 nd -most in NBA in 2014) and scoring 16.0 second chance points (3 rd in NBA in 2014). In the win over the Wizards, Cleveland s 14 offensive boards led to 20 second chance points. In Friday s win at Washington, Kyrie Irving had a double-double at halftime for the first time in his career (12 points, 10 assists) and finished the night with 23 points, three rebounds and a career-high tying 12 assists in 33 minutes. Irving also shot a perfect (1.000) from the foul line, which was just one free throw shy of his career best performance (14-14 FT at Brooklyn on Nov. 13, 2012). Coming into tonight s contest, Kyrie Irving has topped 20 points in 10 of the last 12 games (since Jan. 15). He is also shooting.934 (57-61) from the free throw line over the last 12 contests. C.J. That is the 4th-lowest turnovers per game average in the NBA since Jan. 7. 4,000 POINTS & REBOUNDS CLUB: Against the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 3, Anderson Varejao tallied 10 points and five rebounds to become just the 4th player in Cavs history to surpass 4,000 points and 4,000 rebounds for his career. The 10 made three-point shots is a Cavaliers record in a single game (Previous record: 8, four times). Miles went a perfect 5-5 from the three-point line in the first quarter, which ties the team record for most made three-point shots in a quarter. Miles eight made shots from the three-point line in the first half is also a Cavs record for most three-pointers in a single half (Previous record: 6, four times). His 29.0 points per game average was the highest among all Eastern Conference guards that week and second-highest among all East players. He posted the highest field goal percentage among all players in the conference who had at least a 21.0 points per game avera ge (minimum three games). He was also one of two players in the East to record multiple 30-point games and the only one to record at least 30 points and 10 assists in a sing le game. Irving won the award for the second time of his career (Jan , 2013). JUST LIKE WORLD B. FREE: In the Dec. 10 win over the Knicks, Kyrie Irving posted his third double-double of the season with a game-high 37 points on (.609) shooting, including 4-7 (.571) from three-point range, to go a long with a game-high 11 assists, one steal and one turnover in 36 minutes. He became the first Cavs player since World B. Free on March 29, 1986 (43 points, 11 assists, 0 turnovers) to tally at least 37 points and 11 assists, while hav ing one or fewer turnovers in a single game. Before Irving, the last NBA player to accomplish tha t feat was Kobe Bryant on December 29, 2009 (44 points, 11 assists, one turnover versus Golden State). DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: In an win over the L.A. Clippers on Dec. 7, Cleveland held Los Angeles to (.322) shooting from the field, a seasonlow by a Cavaliers opponent. The last time Cleveland held an opponent to.322 shooting or less was November 18, 2003 which was also against the L.A. Clippers (.319). Cleveland a lso held them to 7-35 (.200) shooting from the three-point line and outrebounded the Clippers The 60 rebounds were a season-high for the Cavs and the first time hitting that mark since February 25, 2011 versus New York (62 rebounds). RARE NUMBERS: In a win over Denver on Dec. 4, Tristan Thompson, who had 13 rebounds in the first half to tie for the 3 rd most in The Q s history for most rebounds in a single half, finished the night with 17 points, a ca reer-high 21 rebounds and a season-high three blocks. The only other player in Cavalier s history with a game in which he equaled or exceeded Thompson's totals in each of those categories (since the NBA began tracking blocked shots in ) is Cliff Robinson, who had three such games for Cleveland (two in and one the following season). BLOCK PARTY: Cleveland blocked a season-high 13 shots in a win against Denver on Dec. 4, the team s most since March 16, 2004 (13 blocks vs. CHI). The Cavs have also had consecutive 10-plus blocks performances this season (10 blocks versus Philadelphia on Nov. 9 and 11 blocks at Chicago on Nov. 11) for the first time since swatting 10 or more shots in consecutive games on Dec. 5-6, 2008 (10 blocks vs. IND, 10 blocks at CHA, respectively).
