4 FACILITY INFORMATION XL Center 1 Civic Center Street Hartford, CT This downtown Hartford arena is home to the Huskies men s and women s basketball programs as well as men s ice hockey. The arena seats 15,000+ for basketball and approximately 8,089 for hockey. The XL Center opened its doors in 1975 and was newly renovated for the seasons. The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the state of Connecticut for years to come. 4

5 GAME DAY INFORMATION BENCH LOCATION Team benches consist of 19 chairs each. In accordance with AAC policy, a total of 27 persons are allowed in each bench area five (5) on the court and 22 on chairs. The bench area and seats behind the bench area are restricted to staff, student-athletes, student managers and officially recognized personnel of the school. CREDENTIALS Upon arrival, UConn Event Management will provide visiting team staff with necessary credentials. Visiting team personnel will need to wear a credential for access to the restricted areas (courtside, locker room, and any media rooms). Credentials must be checked at access points and must remain visible at all times and all passes are non-transferable. Anyone caught abusing or misusing working credentials, will be asked to leave the arena and may be reported to the American Athletic Conference. All credential requests or questions should be directed to Danielle Upham at or danielle.upham@uconn.edu. GAME BALL The official game ball used during competition is the Nike Elite Championship edition. LOCKER ROOM FACILITIES Locker rooms are located in the XL Center. The locker room will be equipped with a whiteboard, markers, ice, towels, soap, complementary programs, and water. A member of the UCONN operations staff will escort the team to the locker room upon arrival and will remain with the team during competition. 5

6 PARKING Visiting Team Parking A University of Connecticut host will meet the team at the outbound entrance of the shipping and receiving entrance at the XL Center where you will unload and be escorted to your locker room upon arrival. The bus will need to back down the outbound ramp to park at the XL Center. Fan Parking Fan parking is available in various lots and garages surrounding the XL Center and throughout downtown Hartford. Please see Appendix B for parking. SECURITY A Hartford Police Officer will escort your coaching staff throughout your stay. The team locker area is a secure hallway and the general public will not be allowed access. The locker room will be locked during competition. 6

12 APPENDIX A Directions to XL Center From North or South on Interstate 91: Take Trumbull Street Exit 32B. Go straight through 6 lights, you will be on Trumbull Street. The XL Center will be on the right. Take a right onto Asylum Street. Take another right onto Ann Street. The load-in ramp is a quick right into the building. Take the second entrance on the right (outbound ramp) to access the XL Center parking garage. Buses must back down the ramp. Heading West on Interstate 84: Take Main Street Exit 50. When you get to the bottom of the exit, continue straight while bearing to the right. At the second light, the XL Center will be on your right. Take a right onto Asylum Street. Take another right onto Ann Street. The load-in ramp is a quick right into the building. Take the second entrance on the right (outbound ramp) to access the XL Center parking garage. Buses must back down the ramp. Heading East on Interstate 84: Take and High Street Exit 49. At the end of the exit, take a right at the first light onto High Street, and then a left at the first light onto Church Street. Take a right onto Trumbull Street, and another right onto Asylum Street. Take a right onto Ann Street, and the load-in ramp is a quick right into the building.
