On The Air: Geoff Brault and Mike Ferraro will call all the action from Baton Rouge on WKIP 1450 AM and on GoRedFoxes.com beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be televised on ESPN2 with Eric Collins and Carolyn Peck on the telecast. Series Record: This is the first ever meeting between the Red Foxes and Blue Demons. Marist is 2-15 all-time against the Big East. Last Time Out: Marist defeated Iona to win the Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championship on March 9. Rachele Fitz led the Red Foxes with 20 points, five rebounds, and a career-high four blocks. Erica Allenspach added 18 points and six rebounds. Sarah Smrdel capped her MVP run in the tournament with a season-high 14 points and seven rebounds. Tournament History: Marist is 2-3 alltime in the NCAA Tournament. In 2007, Marist reached the Sweet Sixteen after defeating Ohio State and Middle Tennessee State. The Red Foxes also made the field in 2004 and Head Coach Brian Giorgis Brian Giorgis is in his sixth season as head coach of the Marist women's basketball team and has taken the program to unprecedented heights in his first five campaigns. He has led the Red Foxes to a record, five regular season MAAC Championships and four MAAC Tournament Championships. In the season, Giorgis was named The Rock MAAC Coach of the Year marking the fourth time in six years he won at least a share of the award. He led Marist to a program-record 31 wins this season.

The Red Foxes are 6-0 on neutral floors this season, including wins over NCAA Tournament teams Utah and Nebraska. MAAC Perfection: This season, Marist became the first team in MAAC history to finish the conference regular season with a perfect 18-0 record. The Red Foxes are the first team since Saint Peter s to go undefeated in the MAAC since the season, when the Peahens went Prior to this season, only three teams had gone unbeaten in MAAC history. She has scored at least 20 points in 16 games this season. Fitz is 26th in the country in scoring with 18.6 points a game, and 14th in free throw percentage shooting 86.8%. She also leads Marist in field goal percentage (.553) and rebounding (7.5/game). Fitz was named to the MAAC All-Tournament team after averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. Record Setter: So far this season, Rachele Fitz has scored 615 points, setting a new Marist record for points in a season previously held by Ursula Winter, who scored 545 points in the season. Defense Wins Championships: Marist has held eight opponents to under 30% shooting from the field this season. In the quarterfinals, the Red Foxes held Canisius to 28.3% from the field. On Nov. 18, Marist held Dartmouth to 22.4% shooting from the field in a win. The Red Foxes are 11th in the country in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 35.3% shooting from the field. Living On Assists: The Red Foxes also have done a great job this season distributing the basketball, leading the MAAC in assists with a game. This season, Marist has assisted on 63.8% of their baskets. The Red Foxes are currently 14th in the country in turnovers per game with 13.7, and eighth in assistturnover ratio at Marist had 18 assists to only nine turnovers in the MAAC Championship game against Iona, and had 20 or more assists in six games this season. During this stretch, Flores has averaged 13.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. She is also shooting 45.7% from the field and 78.7% from the free throw line over the last eight games. Crash The Boards: Marist has outrebounded their opponent in 12 of their last 15 games. The Red Foxes rebounding margin in those 12 games is +7.1 with Rachele Fitz leading Marist with 8.6 rebounds per game. Marist has also hit the offensive glass, pulling down 150 offensive rebounds and scoring 169 second chance points. Instant Impact: Freshman Erica Allenspach became the second-straight Marist player to be named MAAC Rookie of the Year, following in the footsteps of teammate Rachele Fitz. In her first season with the Red Foxes, Allenspach is shooting 50% from beyond the arc and averaging 7.1 points per game. Since being inserted into the starting lineup on December 22, she has averaged 8.4 points per game, shot 54.5% from the three-point line, and 53.8% from the field. Lucky Number Seven(ty): This season Marist has scored over 70 points in 22 games this season, winning all of them. Johnson scored in double-figures six times this season, including a career-high 15 points against Bucknell on Dec. 1. MVP: Senior Sarah Smrdel was named MAAC Tournament MVP after averaging 10.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. She shot 73.3% from the field in the tournament, including a 66.7% mark from beyond the arc and 85.7% at the free throw line. Smrdel scored a season-high 14 points and pulled down a season-high seven rebounds in Marist s MAAC Championship win over Iona. She scored a then career-high 24 points in Marist s first-round upset of Ohio State in the 2007 NCAA Tournament. Working For The Weekend: Marist is 16-1 this season in games played on Saturday or Sunday. Scouting DePaul: The Blue Demons enter the NCAA Tournament as an at-large from the Big East Conference. DePaul is on the year and went 8-8 in the Big East. This is their 13th appearance in the field of 64, all coming under head coach Doug Bruno.
